  1. I have never really taken notice of this before with the CT6, but in side profile the back wheel and tire look very much smaller than the front. I realize that it is a matter of perspective, in that the front wheel/tire and the wheel well make up such a large percentage of the front quarter of the car.... but, it is stark in a straight on profile like this pic! This is not the first car this may have give this impression, but..... And make no mistake, I do like the overall styling of the CT6...
  2. Well, being firmly entrenched in the Ford 'camp' as I am (and haveing been since the mid-70's).... I can say that I am a "Yuuuuuge" fan of this GT right from the outset. I am especially gratified that it has performed as well as it has on the track and in the races it has entered. I am unhappy that production is not a bit more 'mass' than 1000 total over 3-4 years.... But since, I do not think that I would be able to qualify as a customer as it is..... either from a bank account or 'pedigree' basis, I can allow some forgiveness of Ford. It is just that if Ford would produce a few more and open up the customer base a bit, these new one's might actually be used and seen out on the roads. I just see these being garaged and never seen (at least the vast majority of them). That was not the case with the last GT.... as much.
  3. Good morning.... I am relatively new to this forum, but I have found it to my liking. Still getting used to the format, but I am old so it takes me longer.
  4. It can be unsafe if there is frame damage and/or repairs are not done well. But, it sometimes takes relatively little damage (that does not necessarily have to involve damage to the frame), there are many times you can buy and fix a car that has been totaled, do so very economically and have a safe car too.
  5. Oh my... a little 'dicey' down there?
  6. There is a Copart and IAA salvage lot very nearby me. Looking at the inventory for auction, I would agree wholeheartedly with this conclusion. Certainly there are a number of R-title cars in the inventory at any given time that appear to be fairly 'easy' and inexpensive (to the not so trained body guy's eye, that I am). The problem with buying one is that it is hard to determine the extent of damage and cost for me and buying an R-title has its own problems/costs for getting that vehicle ready for legal use on the road.
  7. As a follow up, I have found out that the loop in the seatbelt is for a small barreled sidearm.... for better comfort and it makes for quicker access than leaving it in your holster or in the center console!
  8. Surprised you got the 'last' Escape for rental. I know the new one has some styling changes on the exterior. I am not sure of any interior changes. It is and always has been a good choice in the segment since Ford introduced it. I haven't driven any of the newer generation Escape's, however I have driven many of the previous generation(s). They were always very reliable and good driving vehicles. I am of 'generous' proportions and never had a problem driving them even on long trips. I know on these newer Escape's they have gone from more deeply treaded standard tires to more of a street tire, which degrades winter traction, in my opinion. My ex had this Escape and traded it in on a new Chevy Trax. She wanted to lower her payments and possibly get better gas mileage. From my understanding, she does like the Chevy but misses her Escape still. And, I have no idea what the loop on the seatbelt is for, either....
  9. LOL, in my opinion BMW is just beginning to recover from the Bangle years...
  10. I would need to do some 'work' on the Lincoln, but it is the easy choice here. There is so much to be done to the engine (and a lot of parts availability to do it with). Maybe a modern air suspension and some better front seats...? But other than that, the Town Car is spot on and as (or more) reliable as anything else of that era. If the choice were between that TC and a mid-80's 7 Series? I would easily choose the 7 Series then.... Much simpler and very classy vehicle were those 7 Series', and they drove so well! And I really like threads like these, so kudos olds.... On another forum, I used to put up a 'poll' to choose between the same model of car, but different generations. However, this was an especially good one as I too have always liked that movie... and had thought something similar as I have watched it each time.
  11. It is all about one's comfort level in the snow and ice. No doubt. Regardless of what vehicle one has in winter, it is the person behind the wheel that determines if they get to where they desire to go.... And you AND your wife want a manual for the next car's trans? You picked well, mi amigo!
  12. I can certainly appreciate your opinion regarding the behavior of 'whom we do not speak the name(s) of' (I guess they are the "Valdemort's" of the internet forum world).... It used to make me more upset to see threads get 'derailed' etc. Heck, I used to find myself getting lured 'into the fray', from time to time myself.... ya' know, before I became the completely mature dude I am today! I suppose if I were an administrator or moderator etc. of a forum, I would be a little more annoyed then I am as a mere poster.... I suppose I will just hope that this place does not completely devolve into the quagmire that it could..... I, for one though, enjoy extremely spirited debate regardless of most language used as long as it relates to the topic of the thread at hand. Those threads are highly entertaining, at times.
  13. After reading through some very insightful posts on here.... Scout, olds - you boys are, as usual, spot on with your commentary! (And the video of the trailer above is possibly the best feat of engineering I have ever witnessed! )..... I can say that it bothers me little what trolling etc goes on in these threads. I do not mean to belittle this forum (or any other, for that matter) when I say that this is just an internet forum.... I do not come here to look for the cure for cancer etc. In point of fact, the more the 'trolls' are allowed to... well, troll... the more foolish they will appear and without 'making a big deal out of it', they tend to moderate themselves. Even the most ardent and/or even the most unintelligent of them, figure out that once they do not get the attention they seek, and then they see how moronic there words are... they don't wish to repeat the same tactic over and over. Just my thought(s)....
  14. Really not surprising considering the conditions under which Venezuela has been in the last couple of decades. In fact, the biggest surprise is that it took this long for it to happen.... I played college basketball with a guy from Venezuela. This was back in the 80's and although his country was not "First World" then, I doubt many would have been so eager to vote in Hugo Chavez in the late 90's knowing just how much it would slip in the ensuing years. "All the oil in the world" under their feet and Socialism/Communism still has its expected result.
  15. I know I am late to the party here, but being a resident Ford/Lincoln fan here now... I can say that I can see the new Navigator being extremely successful if Lincoln can market it well. It checks most, if not all, the marks off.... Styling (although subjective) is certainly remarkable, tech is all there and interior is as good as any in its price range. Well done here.
  16. A very tragic Ridge Lining accident, I would imagine...
  17. That would certainly depend on how 'involved' in the process you want to be.... I know The 'Burg works as a buyer (used vehicles, in NJ) for the company he works for. He may very well be the best resource you could ask.
  18. The "Bonger" permabanned?????? Say it ain't so!
  19. Hahaha... ya' know, Casa.... same ol' same ol' Good to have a place to come to after the CF funeral... even though it had been quiet over there for a while. The fact that you are here means that maybe it's worth the time to be on here! And I am reminded of the scene in "Field of Dreams" from your quote.... Wings would be the "Ty Cobb" that never gets invited to play ball again!! LOL
  20. Since I am just beginning to learn the format here, I am going to piggy back (or somewhat hijack, if you will) on GHP's intro thread and intro myself. By the way, hey GHPete.... you ol' So&So! Yes, this is lengnert. I am new to C & G, as well. I come from the once fertile lands of MT and CF along with many others on this thread, I see. The 'Burg gave me the info on this place, so thanks to you good sir. It will take me a while to settle in, but it looks fairly cozy on the outset!
