From the sound of it, the car company that has produced so many of the vehicles I have daydreamed about is going to become a mass-producer of uninteresting, "economical" front-wheel drive vehicles. Not to say GM wasn't like that already, but they definitely made some gems too. I don't want "European"... I want North American. I want to be able to buy something that I will aspire to own, something that I'll be happy to drive, something that puts a grin ten miles wide on my face each time the engine fires up, and not cost me 60K. But from what I've been reading and hearing, that vehicle may not be a GM. Must be fun for PCS to grin about all these changes while he has a real car in his garage, and yet us kids will have to settle for small, whiny little econoboxes in the future.
  2. XP715 pretty much says what I'm thinking. You'd have to pay me to own a Jaguar, just because of those repair bills. A buddy in high-school had an XJ6 that he picked up for a song. He loved to brag about his plush, British car. However, it was always fun to point out what DIDN'T work, like the rear windows, and locks, and all the creaks, and strange noises. That Jag is gone, and now he drives another XJ6, which is already beginning to mess up. He always ridicules me for driving 'Domestic' but at least my 18 year old truck's power windows, and locks still work just fine.
  3. This is hilarious. Still, Chrysler has a good record of making fast little FWD demons, so it'll be interesting to see what they'll do. Hell, maybe Chery's quality will ragive Chrysler something to shoot for.
  4. What a joke. There probably is some insane nutjob who would, but his garage space could already be taken up by a Front-Wheel Drive Grand Prix with a detuned 5.3.
  5. I actually found myself making the exact same faces as McCain did.
  6. Dear Pontiac Ad Agency...
  7. The best way to learn about candidates is to look at many different news, and information sources, and not just those in your own country. Because Canadians are heavily impacted by American policy, our outlets spend a decent chunk of time talking about the current race for the White House. The BBC is an excellent source too, not only because their coverage is great, but they even provide profiles of the candidates; here's one for Mitt Romney, for example. However, learning about the choices takes time, and effort, and despite easy access to information by the internet, and mass-media, people, especially those of our age seem to take no time whatsoever to do any research, and would rather make comments on YouTube, or creating Facebook fan-pages for Sanjaya.
  8. I'd absolutely love to see the new FIAT 500 in the flesh.
  9. I'm not a big fan of Acrua, but jumping on these numbers is a waste of time, just like anything from Consumer Reports.
  10. It'll be good to see ChryCo get some small car help, and from a company that's more reputed than Chery.
  11. I love it! However, I'd love it even more if it had an economical, torquey diesel in it.

  13. Dozens of people spontaneously combust each year. It's just not really widely reported.

  16. For the past while, whenever I accelerate, a weird whine goes through my trucks' speakers. The more I accelerate, the louder it gets, and sometimes it can be heard during cruising speed. I'm not too smart on car-audio, so I was wondering if anyone has an idea as to what's causing it, and how I can go about fixing it. The truck is a 1990 GMC Sierra, and the sound system is all stock, save for an Audiovox CD changer that was installed back in the 90's, and hasn't been used in years. Thanks.
