The new CPU is Intel's latest and greatest, the 'Core i7'. It's an advanced architecture, but you pay for it in motherboard costs, and the use of triple-channel DDR3 RAM. The expensive option will outperform the cheaper one because it's capable of carrying out more processes. The cheaper one is also a 'dead-end' in some people's minds because it uses DDR2 RAM which is being replaced by DDR3. Core i7 processors are supposed to really shine if they're used in multi-GPU solutions, which may be part of your workstation. While I can't really help too much, you can gain a bit of an idea with some benchmarks: http://www.techspot.com/review/124-intel-c...i7-920-940-965/ The processors shown are consumer models, but I don't think the Xeon's have too much difference. For example, the expensive CPU you've shown will be more or less equal to the '940' and the cheaper one will be similar to the '9650.'

I'm getting really sick of the college student neckbeard. It's always 'worn' by dudes that look exactly like that guy.
  6. It might be old news to some, but for a lot of people, this is new, and the situation's scarier than anything or anyone like al-Qaeda could dream up. This article sums up the situation pretty well, and I know quite a few people that I've sent it to who think I'm now a genius for 'saying' this stuff years ago... ... when all I did was just forward Oldsmoboi's stuff.
  7. Given GM's recent history of saying one thing, then doing another the day afterwards, I won't believe this until it rolls off the assembly line. Still, it's good news nonetheless.
  8. GM Nightmare Job = CEO.
  9. I can't say. I've been fortunate enough to have never smelled Vegemite.
  10. Well MPG's are on everyone's minds, and I'd assume that advertising may appeal to women more than dudes.
  11. Leave the hairspray alone, dude, some of us rock that stuff.
  12. You wouldn't happen to be looking to adopt, would you?
  13. This deserves repeating.
  14. Mauled by bear, because in old age you gotta worry about kids on your lawn and diaper brands. Plus it's funnier for other people a few years later.
  15. For a drug that makes you go ape-$h!, he must've hid it pretty well. I always envisioned the guy would be at the wheel of his car going 'NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE' or something. Like this guy at 0:14: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARJjyI9-Z0Q

It's great to know the US military is recruiting such quality people into it's forces.
  18. Sure the city should have placed cones before-hand, but I do hope the judge does remind her that she is indeed a total moron. I'd hate to know if she texts at the wheel.

  20. And that's why dashes that are built with integrated navigation in mind suck ass. What a great way to remind people that they're supposedly cheap.

Wow what a dicktree. You're lucky you haven't gotten too angry on him. If I were in the same position, I'd have probably had him filing for a disability discharge before he headed to Texas. Good luck, and at least you still have that Cutlass, which I'm still very, very jealous of.
  22. Well, dash clutter is one of the drawbacks, but then again, it depends on how much value you place on the unit, and the look of a 'clean' dash. For me, and likely plenty of others, the 'clean dash' isn't worth the huge price premium. Besides, a lot of commuting is pretty local, or is in familiar surroundings, so it's not as if the GPS needs to be mounted all the time. As for being stolen, that's more common sense than anything. If you leave anything valuable and visible in a vehicle these days, you're asking for it. GPS units are great. I got my Dad a Garmin Zumo for his Beemer before he went cross-country, and he'll never travel without it again, either on the bike or motorhome.
  23. But there's the kicker - cars that have dashes built for Navigation can look horrible when the person doesn't equip it, or you get a useless screen that reminds you that you were supposedly too 'cheap' to plunk down $1200 for a device that gives you $300 worth in features.
