  1. Too bad. I like suburbs. I always have. I don't like in-town living....I have never tried to be way-cool and living in a loft apartment amidst high density construction with no place to park your car is not for me. I have always lived in suburbia...though not the outermost ring. That sector will be troubled by high gas prices. It really will hit certain So. Cal suburbs bordering on the desert quite hard, I'm sure. The other thing is that people feel suburbanites are banal. When I lived in Seattle, there were lots of interesting, well-educated professional types who liked living in places like Bellevue or Kirkland where the housing stock is newer, the decibel level is lower, there are more trees and more places to park your car...and yes, these people are interesting, well-traveled and not at all boring. I think that the in-town Seattle frumps who are a bit more liberal incorrectly brand them that way. Bella-fornia, baybay...on Seattle's Eastside...where all transplants belong. Let's see how this plays out. Major urban areas with sprawl and without adequate transit provisions (Houston, LA) will be hurting.
  2. Cool. Good luck. Exciting...glad it's you and not me. It will have the same birthday as my Dad...and Napoleon....and C&Gs Lakefire. Cheers.
  3. So funny. I think some of them are still living in hot springs based communes in Northern California while others are chasing the greenback, driving an SUV and living in suburbia (God forbid ... those sell-outs)

  6. ...the premium placed on alcohol still astounds me... ...I think I have had FEWER alcoholic drinks in my ENTIRE life than some of you have had in a wild college weekend (no, my religion does not forbid alcohol consumption, just a personal choice to stay in control and keep $ in my wallet)
  7. yeah, that I didn't get any...that would have been toward the end of college. Now, Frank, remember: raincoat....raincoat...raincoat....I wanna see you walk out with a B.S.M.E. from Kettering without any complications. Got it?
  8. I see. I wish I would have taken a picture of the sticker as I took other photos which I will eventually post. This car, at $21,900 +/-, was a 3.5 equipped base model with NO options at all.
  9. NOS - sounds like freshman year all over again *sighing - memories that have been shelved* BV - sounds like you popped more than the collar (sheez, and I was expecting a fashion statement)
  10. Well said. In fact, I have heard it said that about 80 to 90 of your self concept is locked in by the time you finish high school. That's not good.
  11. You're not kidding. We won't go down that road as many seem to get heated (pros and cons) over the 3800. I myself wish they had kept it. It was around through 2004 or 2005 in their SS version, the latter year with a S.C.. With a 3800 in a Monte Carlo coupe, I wouldn't have needed to run a thread asking what car I should get.

  13. Over the weekend, I was in the vicinity of Chico CA. I checked out a few car dealerships and there were some 2007s around. On this basic Impala, the sticker said it was a 3.5 VVT V6. The mileage (for gas) read: 20 city / 29 highway Last year's (2006) model sticker for this engine indicated: 21 city / 31 highway That is screwed. The bigger V6 in GP/LaX comes in at 20/30. I'm scratching my head on this one. What's the deal?

  15. Oh, brother....thanks, Bobo *wiping egg off my face*
  16. Wait, you guys are BOTH Ford owners? Interesting. I'll say this, for a Ford, it is a nice looking car. Better the wedgies (Fusion) than the bulbous (Charger, 300).
  17. stethoscope (WMJ, your Av is obnoxious reminds me of the saying "No Fat Chicks")
  18. Well, maybe I should have put this thing through the "reunion test." Another way I could have elaborated: Are the nice and down-to-earth people still nice and down-to-earth? Are the ass-holes still ass-holes? Are the bitches still bitches? Are "the beautiful people" still carrying on like "beautiful people" would? And on and on and on... I think that over 20 or so years, you will see LITTLE change. It's too bad...some of these bad personality types could benefit from some improvement. I think that's what I meant by tbe thread

  20. Too funny. Looks just like the garages in the home magazines at the supermarket. I love that signature. I would especially like it if it was a 76 Pontiac Grand Le Mans coupe just like the one that Wildmanjoe once dug up for me!
  21. I'm UNpretentious compared to most of you guys: - a Chevrolet Monte Carlo LT with a 3.5 V6 VVT as a daily driver - a Buick LaCrosse CX or Grand Prix base with a 3800 V6 for occasions when I have have to lug around people and need 2 extra doors - a Pontiac GTO (or what about a new F-bird as a twin to the new Camaro?) as a toy car (driven on rare occasions and babied the rest of the time) And it all fits within a 3-car garage.
  22. meth (sometime I will post this story)
  23. apple pie
  24. All right! Happy Birthday! You share a birthday with one of my favorite cousins in Italy with whom I just got off the phone. The difference is: I send her $$$. Enjoy yourself in beautiful O.C. (the place, not the person)
