I'm a customer service supervisor/book keeper in a local grocery store... customers are often that dumb. The Congressman is 100% correct, people will view these new labels as warning labels and stay away from them. How dumb are consumers: They often buy brand name products when the store brand product is right next to it on the shelf, made by the same company on the same line EX: Wonder Bread and IGA Bread... both delivered by the Wonder bread truck. I've told customers this and they still "feel better" about the name brand. While many consumers are very informed, many are not.

I understand building a Chevrolet model for the general public. I understand building a Cadillac model for the luxury crowd. I don't understand what the GMC model brings to the table. Once again GM takes cover behind a badge job. Open question to GM: General Motors, What is "professional grade" about a Chevrolet Equinox with a fugly grille?

I still don't get it. Maybe its me.

Maybe its me but I dont get it, the car is in such bad shape that it is beyond repair, there are plenty of 58 Plymouths so this isn't the last one. Whats the big deal, they dug it up, the case leaked, the car is a loss, move on.

I seem to remember PCS telling us about 6 months ago that things were about to get interesting. Looking back at the last 6 months leading up to today, I think we can say you called it Sir.

I wonder what the hundreds of thousands of millions of BLS buyers will do without access to Cadillac's standard of the world! This might cost GM the 15 customers a year who pay full sticker price for one of these.

I hope your wrong, another model destined for the cooperate fleet/rental business is not something GM or Buick need. Plastic hubcaps on a Buick is as pathetic as the 4 cylinder Firebirds of the 80's.

Sounds like things at Chrysler might be just as f'ed up as at GM. This whole thing reminds me of the various statements given about the future of Pontiac over the last few months.

I may have just found the Aurora replacement that I'll need in 2-3 years.

Its better to cut the price then to sell the car at the same price by adding thousand in incentives. A neighbor of mine recently went to check out a new Impala (to replace is Grand Prix) but was shocked to see the base models near $24,000. For such an old design, that is a lot of money for the base model. Knock a few grand off or add more standard equipment like what Chrysler did in the late 80's with the Omni and Aries.

Good news guys and gals, Ford said it can make it through March without more Federal money...oh wait, they never needed any. Someday, many years from now, people will look back at headlines like this and tell the story of how America's most powerful company threw it all away.

I second that. Almost every issue GM has (high cost, uncompetitive products, poor resale values, angry customers, bad image, and piss poor marketing) are their own doing. This is it, why is it that Ford is building their best products in years, and I have more faith in Chrysler then I do in GM? We are watching the slow death of an American giant.

In the most recent Tornoado Owners As. newsletter there was an interview with the Toronado/Aurora designer who said the Aurora's inspiration was the Toro and in fact said the rear lamps are inspired by the 1966 Toronado. As soon as I find it I can post the exact quote.

If I were in the market for a new car I would first go to Chrysler, then to Ford.

I learned this week that my neighbors on both sides like my car a lot more then I do.

I work with a girl who's parents own a 2000 Catera, and its a total nightmare. Right now the electrical system is a screwed up.

2001 Olds Aurora 3.5 Back in October I brought the car to a GM dealer that we had used for some time. After a $1544.00 repair for the transmission (input turbine sensor and shift solenoids) I was told that my highway vibration was caused by bad wheel bearings and that I needed a brake job ($543 for the front, $546 for the back) along with tons of other work (ball joints, shocks/struts, etc). Based on a neighbor's recommendation, I went to a different dealership (Maritime Motors, Fairfield Ct) to find out my highway shake was out of balance tires ($19.99+tax) and my brakes could be done for less then 1/2 the cost of the previous dealership. I asked about the car and was told "its fine". I also got same day service and a very polite staff. They have earned a new customer in me.

This will move GM 1 step closer to getting rid of Saab, which is a good thing. Saab is a waste of GM's time, energy, and money. All the work that has gone into Saab since GM 1st got involved could have been used to help a stronger brand like Chevrolet or Buick keep/expand their customer base. I say better late then never.
