Glad I don't work in the auto service industry...
regfootball replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
yeah, in my 7 mo. in the biz i am astounded at how crappy some keep their rides.......... -
Where I am at, I noticed a bit of a bubble starting a few weeks ago. I think things have topped out some. The mfr's have been getting a little desperate to move new stuff too. Trades even, we've had to back off slightly so as not to overpay. As mentioned, credit and money flow is the real issue. A lot of folks can only afford payments on used. Everyone is hanging on to their cars. And no one has confidence to take loans even if they can get one.

what sort of mpg are u seeing mr. ocn?

10 Speed Automatics Coming To Hyundai, Kia Vehicles
regfootball replied to William Maley's topic in Hyundai
really the CVT is the better idea, but it needs lots more development and refinement and programming. and yes, cvt's need work in handling hp. this is likely just penis waving by korea........ if i were a carmaker i would be trying to figure out which tranny works most seamlessly with the likes of BAS -
sure, lets get one running.!

Rumorpile: C7 Getting A Seven Speed Manual?
regfootball replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
because the feds want unrealistic cafe, is why you get and have to pay for a 7 speed tranny -
the white sonic sedan pics on that other GM site is basically the sonic sedan i saw the other day.
-
did also see a new Accent the other day when i was Veloster hunting and the Sonic is far more stylish in comparison.
-
I inspected 2 sonics on a couple different lots today. an inferno orange hatch and a white sedan. the hatch is definitely a looker. with apologies to some.......the sonic hatch makes the melted fiesta look like a bit of a turd ............(JMO) the sedan in appliance white with small wheels did not look quite as cool....but next to the cobalt it was parked by it looked really good and fresh and new. i took some pics i will see if i can get a couple posted. the trunk lid for some reason was open on the sedan so i looked inside. the trunk finishing is definitely close to third world status. hyundai finishes their trunks like a luxury piece in comparison. at least we know where GM spent the money on the car. Through the glass though, the interior looks awesome for what it is, the design is awesome and interesting. The detailing is cool. I love the efficient packaging. You can tell its cheap plastic but they went out of their way to put textures and finishes on it that play well in the overall design. There is no confusing the cruze and sonic, the cruze is far more mature and substantial and the sonic does indeed look the part of a less expensive subcompact. but of all the subcompact crapboxes out there its probably the most desirable based on looks. I wonder if the LTZ turbo Sonic will outdo that SX4 sportback I have been eyeballing.......... I have a feeling though the Kia Soul with its upgrades will be tough competition since its about the same price across the board. The Sonic actually is so blocky in shape it almost looks like a lowered SUV passing by....

vertically oriented radio and all?
-
the aerodynamics are apparent from the front view.....even with a tall roof, the car actually looks narrow and jellybean and not blunt to the wind. From the front view the car has some funny proportions. rest of the car is highly sculptured and dynamic for the .28 cd......the same .cd as the first w bodies in 88...........
-
someone visited our shop today with a very special camaro. 24" fronts and 26" rears.........
-
AN ORANGE SONIC JUST DROVE BY!!!!!!!! Also, saw an Equus the other day.....like it, I think it looks better in person than pics. Did not check out the interior though.
-
Honda has lost its way........ but its a complex deal. to stay big like they grew to, they have to make big fat cars they never used to. And they haven't evolved the small cheap stuff in the ways they used to lead. Their styling reeks and Hyundai / Kia is taking over their old position. GM Ford and others have eroded Hondas top stuff. Honda needs a game changer.
-
the dashtop plastics looked really good in the photos. some of the detailing looked pretty good too.
-
Edmunds, what did you expect? Aside from the mailslot interior panel gaps, what did you think of that interior?
-
Edmunds 2013 Malibu Eco review there is some fantastic interior pics on this review.. LOOKS A LOT BETTER THAN I EXPECTED inside...... wow, could this car bust the doors open?

HIGHS cute. utility. inexpensive to run. LOWS huge turning circle junky construction, fall apart, gotta fix em a lot bad mpg, correction $h!ty mpg cute. SUMMARY they've had their day.......

just a mild aside. a customer today that came in and bought a Kizashi, was at a Heeyoondye dealer in the service dept after doing a sonata test and another customer at that place mentioned to go try a kizashi. my point is that it was apparently apparent to the customer that the quality of the hyundai once you experience it is something that gives you second thoughts.......... Slam the rear door on a Optima. It is the worst sound in the industry this side of Lada. slam the door on a regal and its immediately evident why the regal weights a lot more......
