loaded ody EX with added sunroof. the sunroof added a thou i think to a 32k full price sticker. MSRP + sunroof. leather, power everything. kbb private party value 04 odyssey w/ 47k miles Condition Value Excellent $22,085 (no one has an excellent condition vehicle, espeically minivans which get beat on) Good $20,700 (Selected) I considered it good condition. Fair $18,835 their 18,500 trade offer was higher than trade value and lower than private party value. it likely was simply an auction value. all the dealers go to the computer and pull up auction value and give you that in case they get stuck unloading the car. You try to debate the trade value and they basically say, see ya and leave you to 'go fk yoself, homie'....In this case they will preserve 6.5% of that for sales tax.....about 1200 (not 15, sorry). so in the end the offer is 19,700 real cash. I'm pretty sure the 32k sticker was paid and then tax on top of that. So let's cancel out the tax and go only on price paid. Let's drop that 18,5 trade number down to 18 because that makes up for the 1000 that was paid extra for the moon roof. 18k/32k = 2.5 years and 56.25% value retained. that's 43.75 / 2.5 = depreciation per year = 17.5 x 3 = 52.5% value lost in 3 years, admittedly slightly higher mileage than normal. Even if we only go 50% value lost in 3 years, that's still 16 grand out the window. That's not cheap and even the biggest Honda bangers cannot justify saying the car holds its value at that point.

funny thing is, hyundai isn't vastly cheaper. just enough to be noticeable. like 5-10%.

I sure hope the Lancer is more mainstream than the Civic. The new Civic is a huge turnoff to anyone besides pimple face tuners. The Lancer if its nice enough could occupy some of the Civic's prior savvy Japanese car base (fans who like Accords but smaller) and grow a bit more sales. the basic Impreza never seems to be mainstream enough and and the Mazda 3 is far to hip now. The Corolla has gone into barf / geriatric territory. The Yaris won't reach the fan base to get those people. The new Sentra has a chance of being the star of the Asian compact class with most mainstreamers, but it could just as easily polarize like the Quest did.

I would love to see Toyota get DESTROYED. Not Honda, they do build some ok motorcycles, my lawn mower engine....other things. In not as pretentious of ways. They HAVE actually contributed to our culture and business community moreso over time than Toyota. Put it this way....does Toyota claim American to sell more cars, or to be a contributing member in US business like Honda? If Honda cars went, they'd still have all their power equipment and motorcycles. Toyota doesn't give a flying fk. They are just here to extract car sales. Hyundai: same thing. Hyundai DOES NOTHING to contribute to our national fabric. Even less than Toyota. WHAT DO Kia and Hyundai contribute?

Your leader in CANADA will be telling us what to do also because of the oil.....LOL...the USA can't win. I can't believe people don't see the war Asia is waging on us.

wow, does this survey measure QUALITY or does it measure BITCHING?

no, the RIDGELINE INDEED is worse.

it doesn't mattter if he's good or not. the dealers around here dictate what you get because sales are good. take it or leave it. They geenrally go by auction values, which IS a true indicator of real world market conditions. So in this case, if he doesn't take the offer, its not like he'll get a better one elsewhere. Anyone buying it private party goes to Edmunds and sees they can pay 3-4 grand less for it private party and they know if he sells it himself, he is losing 1500 in sales tax credits via trade so they can use that as leverage as well. A dealer can get 22-23 off the lot for it maybe, but PP, you'll be lucky to find a stiff to give him 20 which is still a 13 grand loss plus the 1500 loss in tax credit. bottom line 30 months, 45% loss in value. sorry, try again KTHXBI

OK, I gotcha. I defaulted to the original definition knowing the horndog you seem to be at times. Just looking for a good story. the 'horndog' routine is just a comedy schtick. Its a nice way to keep levity going in my everyday world full of boring mundane, happily wed midwestern values.

toyotas are big time geriatric cars these days. and its getting worse for them. Some Hondas are becoming old mobiles too....
-
yeah. there's much deeper stuff going on.

that LEATHERETTE interior is so classy, just like the hjigh priced German cars. We don't give GM enough credit these days for their interior improvements.
-
congratulations. looks like a fun trip!
-
did they give you a PRIUS to drive?
-
yeah, I love em all, but hey its RIP NATION USA! We all get ripped as much as we rip others ourselves.
-
typically GM has always made their soft rear seats low as well. GM needs to build a car with REAL ROOM like my 500.
-
ok, prove that we can do that. you can't just throw out a number like 50% and not back it up. and your prius gets 90 mpg when the wind is blowing 10 mph give me acreage, how many acres of farmland per year do we need to grow enough sugar or corn for the 50%. what is our backup plan in case their is a natural ag disaster, i.e. drought, lack of yield, storm damage yield production quantities based on yield taxpayer cost, for famring subsidies and ethanol production subsidies cost of new refineries including tax breaks and other start up subsidies increased food prices due to less 'food production' in lieu of using all that land for fuel in your scenario then I would propose we mandate that large better managed businesses be able to farm the crops required for ethanol prodcution instead of often poorly managed family farms. Then we could see efficiencies in labor and production because the business could be managed. You certainly don't need farm workers on the clock 40/52 so we can make the production workers part time and save benefits costs.

this really isn't 'butch' enough for a GMC.....the headlights have no Yukon/Envoy similarity...........honestly I could see this morphing into the chevy version as it looks quite Equinox. Don't get me wrong, its conservative enough and bland enough to battle the Pilot and stuff, but its not the superior GMC styling I was expecting that would outright say 'professional grade'. Why would you choose this over an Enclave if they are both in the same showroom? The Acadia really needs to have a rugged tough look, like the Yukon or Envoy. Honestly, this is too urban pu$$ified for a GMC badge.......We DON'T NEED NO RIDGELINES

this sort of thing happened recently at my work. Some dude was leaving for Iraq so a small group set up a going to lunch at Chipotle. There are like 4 Chipotles in different directions, but equidistant from work. I was asked, but didn't go...not because I didn't want to send the guy off, but because I knew it would be a clusterfuq. Soon, I hear its like 12 people. One of the three guys or whatever who was in on the original plan asked me if i was going and I said, "no, honestly I don't want to sit in a crappy loud dive like Chipotle where the illegals behind the counter don't understand me and have to deal with the mess of 12 people or whatever and I am really craving Chinese buffet today anyways...or Godfather's pizza buffet...." He said, ok...then like 5 minutes later he comes over and says 'the f-ckers asked me if I wanted to go with and I'M THE ONE WHO SET THIS UP!!!" to top it off, they had changed which SH-1-TPOTLE they were going to. HE got the shaft! Needless to say, we had a great lunch, the 2 of us, ripping coworkers and enjoying the ease of it all. My last job, I would lunch with coworkers a lot. Mostly the women I would get to be friends with in the office. Women are just simply more interesting at conversation. Where I am at now though, there are so many women and they are so clicky with each other they all pretty much go out as women only and the other guys are 'lunch pail' guys. 'Family guys' who always bring their own lunch, and do dull stuff like play cards and do crossword puzzles. They're great coworkers, but not the most outgoing bunch. So nowadays I surf C&G a lot over lunch!

ENCLAVE - YOUR NEXT RIDE!!!

that's a fair approach. but i like what casket said too. at least if you continue to date her just to see if you think she can be true, be sure to get plenty of the sex bit if your both amenable, especially if she's hot. If anything now, she might feel inclined to give 'repentance sex', which is phony and shallow for both of you, but sometimes sex is better than none. You might even find out if she's into submission stuff..........whoa, cart before the horse. Walk before you can run. JUST ALWAYS PRACTICE SAFE SEX, EVEN WITH YOURSELF....NO KNIVES, CORKSCREWS, ELECTRODES, etc........

I like your advice, make her cry, revenge, embarassment......good stuff. pictures, video, blackmail, all useful at this stage....(tongue in cheek)
