  1. Rachael Green on Friends mysteriously developed a third sister in one of the later episodes. first Jill, then Amy.
  2. c'mon people, the only reason the Yaris exists in North America is because the Echo is like Canada's favorite car. If the Echo wasn't so DAMN popular in Tim Hortonville, it would even be here for sale in the US. Well, that, and the need for toyota to press its corporate testicles against the windshields of the Kia Rios and Hyundai accents of the world. Aveos too now, apparently. Take Echos away from those Canucks and they would probably revolt...... sad thing, the Yaris, Fit and Versa are nothing more than publicity machines (like the Prius), made to lead the charge of the Japanese brigade, saving the universe and ridding the world of oil consumption. Or at least that's what all the press releases will imply. all while making megaprofits off new gas sucking Tundras, Armadas, Land Cruisers, Ridgelines and Pilots. Toyota and Nissan and Honda don't care if they sell any of these super small compacts. its just a need for them to prove they are superior to the koreans and to bichslap the US makers in the PR wars........07 Yaris vs. 07 Suburban, which one is more responsible to our world today? is what they will say. And the press will be all over it like stink on sh1t.
  3. i hope everyone realizes that you can get a CTSv for real world transactions prices that are extremely comaprable to the list prices quoted here.......
  4. ...........
  5. folks are chuggin brewskis in India and asia gearing up for those engineers at GMDAT to start working their asses off now................ if i were an engineer i'd be learnin whatever language it is they speak over there if i wanted to stay in the biz and get a check....... razor, you could be right...tictoctictoc this is outsourcing, people!!!!!!!!!!! they gotta do it keep costs down......apparently
  6. HOLY F*CK. now THAT'S BLUNT TRUTH. I think he's hit it 100% on the head here. "People (in general) really DON'T care if Detroit fails" I think that those words from OC are the root of the whole thing. I think people are sympathetic to support American companies, but they feel that the car companies in America are far too centralized in Michigan and between that and the general hatred our society harbors towards the spoils that union labor affords in comparison to their own compensations.....2+2=I don't give a flying **** if your little local industry goes down. Now, what folks DON'T know and SHOULD know is that many of the automakers factories are outside of Detroit. GM and Ford could build leading edge products that are totally reliable and the public will still blow them off, because they find GM and Ford as business operations to lack being in step with the real world. Having the unions involved damages the perception tenfold. I wish union folks really knew how much contempt the general US public harbors towards unions these days. They are not the only cause of the auto industry slide, but the union factor generates most of the negative public opinion towards the industry. Sadly, this has all got to hit rock bottom for the solutions to arise and get better. What really bothers me about all of this is how much we are allowing the Asians to infiltrate our economic structure. Blame your politicans and liberals for that. I do think there are lots of selfish folks out there who should at least CONSIDER the economic impact of satisfying their urge to buy a toyota.
  7. "Reasonably pleasant to drive and relatively roomy, but unimpressive fuel economy for the small size and poorly equipped unless you spend extra." "Yaris seems to fall short of Toyota's promise of a premium vehicle at a bargain price." "$12,000 to start is a fair guess, and for that price you won't get a radio, possibly not a tachometer, definitely not anti-lock brakes."

    07 Yaris

    here
  9. i think its clumsy, but remember, the designers are still trying everything to figure out the magic formula for proportioning vehicles like this. it will take time. much better to allow them to figure out how to make a successful functional vehicle design language than suffer through the old paradigm of low riding uncomfortable useless hardly functional vehicles.
  10. fusion meets camry meets CTS dull boring deriviative unoriginal.... in other words.....generic asian design or 'toyota' there's still enough flighty real estate agents out there that buy lexus camrys so lexus will sell all they can build........
  11. yeah, the equinox' interior is horrible. it could use a version of the tahoe theme.
  12. i bet GM is redesigning the suspension and stuff already in the ass end to gain some trunk space back.
  13. yeah that piano wood really helps the motorget some torque instead of haing to blow 7500 rpm to get any power.
  14. cheap plastic and bad interiors clueless management in many ways many unrefined and uncompetitive engines (mostly the v6's although it is starting to improve) w bodies and other old platforms bean counters stifle everything old dealers and practices crippling labor and benefit arrangements product cycles far too long still have some bad styling and interior packaging issues a general public that mostly can't think for themsleves Neils, jobs, Leinerts, etc.
  15. unless you have a car seat and long legged toddler.....LOL
  16. HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sonnett?
  17. Impala SS v8 for me, wish it were sportier. The EX v6 6 sp Honda is nice, but i would rather have an SE-R altima GXP GP or some other car over that.
  18. i test drove one. it needs a 6 speed auto and needs to be more sporty in the handling and looks department. its a cruiser with an engine package and small backseat....other than that its a pretty nice car. If i just wanted the engine, I would go GXP.
  19. oh geez. we are supposed to design our cars to FIT people. That's what DESIGN is about. Deal with the fact that folks want more room. Its not a carmakers job to push a social agenda to get McDonald's to stop supersizing their fries. The real crime is wasting tons of the earths resources to build cars that people cannot feel comfortable in. Crossfire? What's wrong with some shoulder room and hip room? How would you like it if someone built you a house that didn't accomodate the size for things to make you feel comfortable? This is an entire separate issue than our nation's national fitness. Its about designing to fit, not to piss off. Its the customer's choice as to what fits them. If people got taller, shouldn't we increase head room and leg room? This European self deprivation mentality on this sort of stuff drives me nuts. Everyone was wondering why I put 3'-0" doors in my new house. Then, they walk around and check it out and see how nice it is to loosen up and provide room if you need it. Its great for moving furniture and really feels nice moving through spaces. By the way, a narrow car like a Lancer Ralliart has great seating for the wider set. The seat hugs nice and is comfy (but the doors are thin..LOL). We've suffered through enough generations of contortionist cars, dictated by a styling paradigm that is out of date (low rooflines).
  20. i was born in 68. Every version of Chevy pickup/truck I've grown up with still looks very tasteful and fresh to me. Chevy always does a nice restrained job with their trucks. I think Ford needs to watch out and the Dodge trucks look completely silly now these days.
  21. whatever. i'm so tired of all this shock journalism. the press needs to get a life.
  22. i like the element but its interior cheapness, horrible mpg, lack of power, and user unfriendly seat belt setups bug me. i love the bed/seats but they ought to make the seats pull out entirely or fold into the floor. I would ease up on the boxiness of the front windshield. the rear needs to stay boxy to accomodate cargo. i think the element is much more useful than a PT Cruiser but they need to fix the seat belt issue in the rear and pretty up the interior some. the vehicle needs to lose 200 pounds, gain a real motor too.
  23. good job. once folks see these things en masse out in the streets, the whole PR effect of this car will start to trickle in. The image boost for Pontiac and GM will be huge, but its full effect will take many months and likely 2-3 years.
  24. that's an optimistic view. NOT Americans are strong and creative enough and are willing to weed through all the crap to create the style of life they want or are used to. There will be bumps in the road, but we as a country are not willing to lead depressionist style lives ever again. And we shouldn't have to.
  25. imagine if that new DI turbo solstice GXP motor was put in the Lotus cars instead of that crappy Toyo/Yama motor. I cannot believe Yamaha lowered itself to work with Toyota on a project.
