Nice. I see a lot of Q7 in the rear as well, and just about every company will have to copy that rear bubble window before the decade is over. That front is shaping up to be mighty unappealing and Tribeca-like. The wheel arches are just this side of cartoony, everything else is pretty basic-not original but not poorly done either

don't forget they're also a legendary company that has served as a boon to our economy and served as a symbol of US manufacturing. it's the loving parent syndrome, or loving child, either way you like it, GM has a lot to criticize about it, too many poor decisions, our objective is do we have enough time to document it all...

New York will be huge this year.

with product being the number one issue facing GM for years now, i'd say it's safe to say his hands had nothing to do with the current mess GM finds itself in. If they'd figured out how to make relevant product, at all levels and not just Caddy and with the trucks, that strikes a chord design-wise and gets people motivated to drive thier cars, then they wouldn't be in this mess. It took Wagoner, Lutz, and a shake-up to get them to the product investment level they needed to be at. Look at the cohesiveness of the Enclave for a picture of what a quality Buick should be, and who produced it?

this is good. GM is way too large for its own good. More direct communication and simpler buidling steps are required to get the right product launches out. Those that are being targeted have the qualifications to find work elsewhere. I am so glad GM has recognized the potential of global programs done the right way.

I think it's awesome. Now where's my peace pipe and the group of individuals who I can share my life stories with?

three weeks ago i would have said hardly see any ever. but now...i've been seeing a lot more. still not a hit here, but starting to gather momentum? probably not, though I do wish it was, i really like the shape of the g6

and that's what it comes down to. percieved value. all the glossy, black, plasticy looking pieces in those pictures toyoguy posted, the seat recliner pieces, the numerous corners cut, the cheap fabric, the lack of cloth on the doors. The Camry is about the total experience.Whether the Malibu owners here like it or not, this Camry will command MSRP pricing for long after its debut. There is pent up demand for a car that is designed to cater to the senses. How does the Impala achieve this? With fake wood? Or is it the 1990 Lumina inspired dash? Or is it the hard upper dash panels? How does it cater to the sensual experience? Impala and Malibu are relevant to this discussion. Let's keep it interesting and relevant folks. Fly, I think you haven't noticed the buttons come on both sides of the steering wheel, the one pictured was just a base model. If it comes down to if it were aesthetically pleasing or not to you, maybe you'd make the extra jump and cough up $1000 for the extra features and buttons. That's in the hypothetical case where you buy this Camry. [just thought I should comment since you've already made your case twice on this]

since i'm in on this argument already, here's some pictures of gauges from the different cars that were mentioned. I tried very hard to find the 06 model, but I'm pretty sure the gauges are the same anyways. I won't answer for toyoguy, but, from my perspective, the Camry has well designed gauges, that are conservative and straightforward, and could be subjectively considered bland by some, but they are at least elegant, professional, executive business looking. the impala's gauges look like they belong on a '90's Explorer. Yes, their design is subjective and you could be attracted to that toy Matchbox look, but why would you be? This is when it becomes objective, the Camry's are clearly in a different class. When the others are compared to Camry, well you are starting to bring in vehicles that are clearly geared toward different markets. The Impala with its inoffensive exterior and comfortable passanger seating is a natural competitor to Camry and is clearly molded in the same vein as it. Mazda 6 may have more exciting gauges to look at, but it is clearly intended to be that way. That doesn't take away from the quality look of the Camry's gauges. The GM gauges are the least detailed. They are the flatest in terms of presentation, font that falls flat, colors that have been used for years, complete lack of detailing, just pins needles and a few dull characters.

good choice. great drive and good utility. haven't seen the new ss yet, but i've heard it looks real good in the flesh.

happy birthday

exterior looks a lot like the Envoy. not sure what to think of it, especially the rear under the heavy padding. It looks to have nice curves, kind of like the Enclave. Again, I really admired the concept's exterior lines and presence; hope they can fit as much of it as possible. should be nice

thanks for your candidness. I am really impressed with GM's upcoming interiors so far, and I like what I'm seeing so far. from what we can see here, initially i was disappointed. i won't make a judgement call either way until final product is shown. I was wishing for more of the concept car's lines.

Good move. GM reads C&G, clearly. All those discussions of transaction price and fleet sales. GM's response gives excuse to complement positive overall sales trends. I like the tenacity of thier report.

beautiful post, and a resounding to everyone else. this man speaks the truth. the plastics in the impala are clearly still rental grade, though they have come a great distance. the camry still looks like the gentleman's family car
-
the pictured camry has lighting that makes it look flat and unappealing. the impala on the other hand has nice lighting for effect and shine. makes it look a whole lot more accommodating when trick lighting gives cool shadow and shine effects. no worries, the camry still has much better quality and design presence.

I always respect your posts, and you always show good reason. But come on, I could do this with half the interiors in the world! This is sounding like the desperate calls so many others here make when Toy/Lexus gets a recall. I don't care either way, it shouldn't happen on Toyotas and it shouldn't happen at GM. Given the history of both, and the quality standards at both in the past, which do you think this kind of thing would more likely happen? You're not going to convert any Toyota believers. And this is a simple anomaly, I can pretty much guarantee this wouldn't happen easily at a dealer, and if it did, too bad, i still wouldn't care, given i would have to be fuming at GM for the kind of behavior it has shown.

this is true, the camry's look professional. the impala's look like they were designed by children.

to add more fuel to this fire here's what the piece of crap base model G6 looks like from the performance division....exciting design, my ass yes, the camry's base wheels are unexciting, but toyota is not claiming these cars are anything but reliable, quality, sophisticated transportation machines. malibu cannot claim these except for reliable. quality and sophistication are not its virtues, sorry malibu owners. lest we forget this gross machine......the '05 model had nice base wheels and ugly base wheels, i think these are the ugly ones. the newer '06 has nice base wheels i believe, but this thing still made it to the road, yay GM! buick makes somewhat of an effort, but this sedan's overall design is still a blight to Buick, and the wheels well don't do anything to negate the old person's image.
-
brilliant, you are so right. unique problem to lexus, there's a reason they have incredible loyalty, toyota has legendary status, and they win awards, it's called the truth
-
literally, everything they can give, I'll be happy with impala sedan pontiac g8/gto, and smaller g6 buick velite/riviera/sedan rwd crossovers baby wagon

Jordan's about 6'4, but I have no idea how he fit. And I don't believe this story. Jordan used to drive Corvettes around all the time. In fact, wherever he would go Chevy would give him a Corvette to drive. Maybe he didn't personally own one though? I do know for a fact he used to drive Vettes around everywhere.

SRX is scheduled for a new interior/grille change to reflect the Escalade's grille for the upcoming '07 MY. Every Cadillac car is moving in the direction of the Escalade, so that grille should be the one used on every car, including the STS. This DTS-inspired grille looks to just be a mockup. STS should come along with the CTS for the '08 MY. CTS should debut at NAIAS next year, probably along with refreshed STS? Don't know when to expect either at dealers. Agreed with those above that feel STS needs substantial changes, inside and to the rear especially. Though I'd prefer they do a complete redesign and make the STS the exotic sedan it was always meant to be. STS is priced higher than the CTS, but what does it truly offer, aside from the availability of a bigger engine [for a substantial price increase]? What would truly make you buy it over an M35/45, A6, 5-series, aside from blind loyalty. STS needs an injection of true style.
