I agree that manual transmissions are needed. Like Cspec noted, the 2.4 will be standard. Give us a manual in this engine and at least the 3.6 as well. Don't shortchange america, GM, and make the Aura the kind of spectacular, image-building entrant Saturn and GM need. This may take time, but when a completely removed individual comments this car is cool and looks like an MB, it's a good thing.

Detroit News: 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP Coupe Review

I chose that picture because it's most similar view to the two of the Civic I showed; I wanted it to show what most readily is apparent to the driver as he gets inside. The things directly in front of him. I'd say for the target of the Civic, young girls and guys, in the city, who will generally be a lot more expressive than you guys obviously are, for this market it is perfect, it has inspiration, an incredible finish and polish, and all in all very fashionable. For years, you will see cars emulating the look in a bid to set themselves apart. -

either that or people would think they have poor taste....come on you know where i am coming from...though I'm sure this will offend many here. GM interior are less than refined and high class....that's the whole point. -

this beautiful, incredibly polished and well finished, professional interior is the top of the line civic a more humble civic regular g6 [before new steering wheel design and "improvements"] the nicely photographed, perfectly lighted rendition of the top of the line G6 at pontiac.com the real g6 interior folks, i would like to recommend this car, but if someone tells me after driving it and an accord it just screams cheap, and they would worry people would think they are poor or something, i, sadly, would have to agree with them. this car does scream cheap! you decide which you like best. -
This is the great core of your argument. [aside from your own fact checking with the programs] I can see him taking this kind of a position with the media, no problem. To accomplish the ends of guaranteeing some exciting RWD products for the media and enthusiasts to create the buzz and for the public to enjoy. I guess we'll all find out soon enough regardless, but good input to this whole sorted affair.

thanks guys! happy birthday to the fellow march 3rd birthdays... it's been a good one so far

think Laneve reads C&G? all the talk about inflated sales due to fleets here, and now he's making it clear the retail side showed improvements...
-
I try hard to hold a state of neutrality so as to keep from disappointing myself. I am for RWD naturally, so anything about it excites me. I will await anxiously for further concrete developments, including mid-year when the decision on Camaro is supposed to be made. In the meantime, your updates are very much appreciated here, and others here too.

beautiful. look at the pedals on the floor. so finished and elegant and designed thoroughly, truly an executive's car. what's gonna happen if they cheapen the alluminum and get rid of the wood?
-
It's the wheelhousing that is too large for the max wheel size they use too. that rear is mostly what I'm talking about. the front end, I'm not sold on it. It's starting to look bland.

I beleive Ion is gone after this model year....not sure though. It will be replaced by Astra, and sooner than we think, just my speculation, if Aura is as huge of a success as it has the potential to be [200k sales, imo, serious dent in Accord, Altima, Camry, around 30k from each], GM will be reacting quickly to continue the Saturn Gravy Train.
-
I love the SRX too, but I think that has more to do with my bias towards Cadillac than anything. The look on the outside is just not right. The interior is awful, obviously
-
I think the rear of the coupe is fairly bland without the wing...

republicans buying domestics has more to do with the majority of domestics sales being in Red States. GM does tons better in the Midwest then anywhere else, smae with DCX and Ford. If you were to pull the import stats it's probably more closer to an even split than the domestics---since republicans and dems both buy imports [sorry, i'm not trying to be a jerk]

One thing about this article, is until I see program codes and the insiders are talking about it like it's going to come....I won't be certain of anything. It is good that Lutz wants the GTO again, BUT, Lutz probably wants a lot of everything, AND, GM has fluctuated too many times on thier plans to put a lot of faith in anything concrete right now. Too many changes of plans and disappointments to get my hopes up right now. But at least the Camaro is [mostly] definite!

this would be great, with a profile more like the CLS, gosh I love that car, has to be one of the most stylish cars on the road. that would kill in chevy's lineup.

Interior needs a complete overhaul. We're not talking about competing with the current Accord, which is almost to it's fifth year of its lifecycle, but the next Accord which will have an even nicer interior. Read my comment above about the importance of interior design, and overall style and substance of cars in the context of today's world.None of that negates the fact that the GTP, being the performance upscale model, needs more work on the performance itself, like Chazman alluded to. Make GTP corner flatter, more progressive handler, more nimble, etc. -

accord and camry have a luxurious feel that escapes the G6, as quiet and nice as it is on the inside, it doesn't meet them....thus the headline. -

unfortunately when you put those people in a Civic and then a G6, back to back, which is car reviewers do every week, they will see the differences immediately. I will get tomatoed and slammed for this, but the G6, as good as it is, still has an unfinished and cheaper feel than cars like the Civic. The civic looks professional, with oragami styling elements which are subjective, but it looks smart and designed by a professional, and the quality is there to back it up. There is a finished look and feel to the panels that escapes the G6. Then there is the lousy and cheap center stack and center console of the G6, which really spoil that interior. Here's the reason why an interior is so important. A lot of cars these days are incredibly high quality, and can run circles around cars from ten years ago. It becomes a game of image. The image conscious buyer [read: everybody] will buy what car gives the best image that matches thier personality the best and tells people what they want it to say. Whether its success, classy, athletic, fun, wealth, taste......people buy there cars for these emotional reasons. Only for used car buyers, and the buyers of really cheap cars, do these reasons get pushed aside for more practical reasons. But when you can get an incredibly high quality car, like the Civic, that says all the right things, feels the right ways, is practical but can be stylish too [subjective], but most importantly translates that the driver is smart....they chose a car that is smartly designed, in every way, and it satisfies every need they have. The Civic has crafted that image, through great product, through great marketing, through high demand for it. Ultimately it comes down to the basic goodness of the car, and Honda has had a lot of years at the top in this respect......Honda and others to differening levels.....so thier image is well crafted. G6 will need time and much more focus.... -
that sounds like an incredible engine. This would be a great image car for Saab, though GM would need to be careful what exotice features to include and where to price it. I see around 60k as a good range for Saab?
