  1. Cleared everything off the hood & trunk of my '64, rolled the car cover back and wiped it down. There's still a bumper & a fender on the roof, but it was sure nice to see the old girl again. Getting really hot to have a blow-out purge in my shop and get the vehicles in there cleared & worked on.
  2. You are talking about 2 very different metrics here. - - - - - I personally would like to see Tesla succeed. • I like the Model S, I think in general it's excellent (tho it's overdue for a re-skin). • The Model X is a 5/10 tho- some choices made there that were not the best and quality & production has been mediocre at best to date. • Model 3 right now is a complete unknown; design, features, price, production capacity. Impossible to hang future success on just yet. • The company's balance sheet is not fiscally well. All the above certainly may change, just a 'State of the Union' as it is to date. In the standings, that's ~ W : 1, tie : 1, coming to bat...
  3. Actually, Henry lost his first TWO companies. And yes, he was definately 'questioned' but he also had his backers. Side bar : It took Ford 13 years to hit 500,000 units. Tesla is now in its 13th year. 7 years after hitting 500,000 units, Ford reached 2 million. This in an era where people were not predisposed to buying cars, and when there were hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of competing companies, rather than a few dozen.
  4. ^ An '81. V8-6-4 (unless it's a diesel). - - - - - I like the exterior of the GNX, and the performance is awesome… but I canNOT get past the interior. '80s vehicles…. probably why I've never owned one.
  5. What/where is that word from??
  6. There are certain parameters WRT customer expectation that Tesla is going to have to meet, traditional or not.
  7. Ummmm…….
  8. ^ Scroll up for the actual pic of the maybach 2.0 interior. Guess daimler thought tacky throw pillows would distract viewers from sloppy fit & finish. - - - - - Genesis V6 only has 348 HP. CT6 is @ 404.
  9. That pic was digitally cleaned up. Here's the untouched original : Game still very much on.
  10. ^ I don't find any truth to that sound byte, IE; 'copying BMW'. Anymore than BMW copied Cadillac by making their cars luxurious & amenity-laden.
  11. Yep, that's pretty much the way it goes.
  12. I see what U did there… and I don't like it.
  13. The last Jaguar that felt 'pure' to me was the unloved S :
  14. My thought :
  15. Google is broken and 'journalists' are lazy. There are at least a dozen cars, many with 4 wheels & a steering wheel (instead of 3 / a tiller) that PREDATE the Benz tricycle. "Invent" means you are the FIRST. Benz WASN'T.
  16. The Jag XJ I would agree has some 'off' proportions. It has a LOT of front overhang that I find inelegant, and the greenhouse appears distended to the rear too far. Once you move away from those cues, it's rather generic. I mean it's still a solid B grade, but…. eh. This looks FAR more expensive IMO :
  17. BMW : Tired, regurgitated styling. Mass production mainstream brand. Never produces it's concept cars. Bo-Ring.
  18. This has 1088 HP and 2800 TRQ and ZERO cylinders and is smoother & more refined than a V-12.
  19. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting-brake IMO, the term only remains because it 'sounds cool'.
  20. General Motors created the first dedicated automotive test facility with MPG in 1924, all the divisions pounded their vehicles there constantly. Today it encompasses every terrain imaginable and is over 4000 acres.
  21. Surprised you are unaware that mercedes regularly tests upcoming models on Nurburging. Perhaps you aren't much of a fan after all.
  22. Ahh, I get what you're saying now. You are correct; of course Q1 does not necessarily indicate 2016's total sales, but that's why I said 'on pace for'... ...because I'm not aware there's much of a 'growth rate' going on. Model S is down slightly, and Model X may have just gotten to stated production goals, when it was supposed to be that out of the gate in Sept. The established pattern @ Tesla, and likewise; my point- is that the timetables & totals are always behind stated goals. I was boggled when Musk moved that goal up BY TWO YEARS recently. I'll go out on a limb here and say there's NO WAY Tesla reaches even 375,000 units (75% of the stated 500K) by the end of 2018.
  23. It's straightforward; the 'math' is based on the just-released Q1 number from Tesla. They may indeed hit 80-90K this year, we'll see. 90K is obviously almost doubled from '15. The growth rate is very incremental. With 2016 25% in the books, they are actually down on Model S sales. Double sales again in '17 and Tesla could see 175K. But doubling it again in '18 is 'only' 350K, or a far cry from "500K". It's really a towering claim ("500K by 2018").
  24. Piece of cake- aftermarket tuners have built Escalades (LAST generation) going 0-60 in 3.3. 'Big E' starts @ 5550 lbs, even the straight-up 6.2L engine is 8.6 lbs/HP. 750 HP is 7.4 lbs/HP, or less than a 4700 lb V-12 SUV @ BMW.
