  1. yea, saw one on base the other day, made me do a double turn, and slow down to watch it pass... that cocco brown as they call it? very ellegant, but to me, it looks almost like the enclave got the same styling the original hyundai tiberons got... but was just done more elegantly... not saying it looked bad, but i definatly did a double take, looked really nice
  2. well most phones if they can take pictures, can also send them... via picture messages aka mms... also any phone that can send pictures, can also send them to email accounts... not just phones... so how about you give that a try before you go buy something
  3. it would be a sad site if someone didnt like that olive beige color... and you'd be supprise how much those interior colors get skuffed up prior to them even leaving the dealership lots... gets dirty very easily... haha sorry to compelely ruin your point
  4. well looked around... and it could be said that when people are paying attention to their fuel ecconomy, they drive more conservatively, thus they get better results... so many fuel results may be short lived until the person resumes their normal driving habbits and stop paying attention to their fuel ecconomy apparently mythbusters said its a myth... seeing as it is a chemical designed to remove paints and what not, i'm sure it would work great as a injector & carbon cleaner, as one gentleman suggested it cleaned his oxigen sensors... and that alone could weild double point gains in fuel ecconomy... as for why they dont add it into the fuel, perhaps it doesnt work, perhaps it evaporates more fuel then they care to give up, also transportation of large amounts of fuel is dangerous expecially if its evaporating... for example our diesel tankers hold 2500 gallons but due to expansion and other pricipals of fuel we are only capable of transporting a maximum of 2300 gallons... so think about it as you would... remember gasoline evaporates at room temperature as it is... it doesnt need the aid of acetone, until put under pressure... and as another website suggested, this realy only aids vehicles that have a lot of blowby... if it was really good, they'd use it in major racing events... if it improves performance...
  5. ask away man... i know most of our advertisement was focused on pricing and the avaliblity... but very often we'd get consumers on national advertisement come in, that was too soon... people would poor in to the dealerships wanting to see the GMT900 2 months before it was on the lot, because advertisement had already started... and when the vehicle already got there... the traffic on the show room wasnt as it was the months prior... and depending on the advertisement it would trigger a certain response... if GM could get some nice angles, and get some front page shots across most magazines, newspapers, and written publications... things could prove to provide renewed respect for the detroit sedan... but for the most part... 99% of advertisement for vehicles is wasted unless its consistant... and its well thought out, and catchy... for example... remember the employee discount commercials... how much money did GM spend in advertisements with that promotion... in just that month alone? i bet more then they are planning to spend on the malibu... of 100 million... if gm spends how much per year, 2.9 billion? and your only going to use 100 million for the launch of a car that is suppost to raise the bar for the entire car manufacture...? but for example... if gm says, hey 50% of all advertisement for a year is spent on new launches... and 50% of it on reinforcement advertisement that allows owners to keep the car in mind, but they already learned about the car they wanted a few months ago... but i'm not an advertising buff, or even anyone with any experiance in that subject... its just a guess... that you want to point out the freshest product...
  6. no you are missing something... its not really a new engine... but a new way of ignition/combustion... see the current diesel combustion is very dirty... makes a lot of chemicals... doesnt burn it completely... by using a different method of combustion... gm is saying it doesnt require as many emission blockages... thus allowing it to run more smoothly without stupid emission add ons... also since its a cleaner burning, that means more % of it to give power so meaning, more power & more efficency, along with less polutants one example that i can show you... is that if you throw a match in a pool of gasoline... the bi product is carbon dioxide and water... but because of the way it ignites in an engine it doesnt burn 100% and instead of having Carbon monoxide and other polutants... so something could be learned to alter this process for gasoline or diesel... one could effectively reduce the amount of polutant filters like catalaic converters, erg valves, etc...
  7. what happened to the nissan altima... didnt it see upwards of 2-3 times previous years sales? now of course if gm got that kinda result on its actual retail sales... then it might be another 10k units or so... but seriously... this one has got to sell more then the previous year, unless the old was is renamed classic for fleets...
  8. wonder how much this morgage catastraphy will expose toyota... and if they have over production and vehicles sitting on boats and lots and everywhere... how quickly it will reap their capital... my mom told me in 2003 when many creative financing programs came out... she said 5 years and the banks would have a massive problem... we'll see how much it unfolds
  9. it sure would be a shock to the world for gm to actually have a car that sored up in sales... wonder how much a winning chevy is capable of selling... and if gm is capable of filling a big seller... honnestly GM hasnt had a single vehicle sell over 300k in a long time without considering the truck platforms... hrmmm... wonder how much business those magazines can bring... just by saying something like better then camry, or best chevy ever... how many old gm fans will drop their pants and go get one? and if a new wave of customers is to come with such a hit, how long will it take for gm to revitalize all their vehicles with the same enthusiasm?
  10. perhaps i dont remember exactly... but GM still hasnt lost the annual sales as the world leader... "General Motors Corp. said Wednesday it sold 9.09 million cars and trucks worldwide in 2006, a nearly one per cent decline from 2005, as sales in the U.S. faltered. The world's largest automaker sold 9.17 million vehicles in 2005. Its biggest rival, Toyota Motor Corp. of Japan, has said that it expects final totals to show it sold 9.04 million vehicles in 2006 " or as in this own article... it says "In 2006, Toyota sold 8.8 million vehicles, slightly falling short of General Motors Corp's 9.1 million, according to the Nikkei." so someone tell me, what kind of journalist will site two sources that suggest different things... if toyota sold 8.8 million or 9.04.. its still less then 9.09 million i dont care if toyota wants to include some other companies sales... those arent vehicle sales... what if gm tracked all the humvees sold to the government? cause its estimated to be near 200k this year or next...
  11. TOKYO (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp aims to sell around 10.4 million vehicles worldwide in 2009, up 18 percent from last year as it grabs market share in North America and taps growing demand in China and other emerging economies, business daily Nikkei reported on Wednesday. Clearing the 10 million milestone would be an auto industry first and likely cement Toyota's position as the world's biggest car maker. Toyota surpassed General Motors Corp to take the top spot in 2006, according to Automotive News. "It is incrementally good news," said CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets auto analyst Christopher Richter, who estimates Toyota's sales for 2009 at 10.2 million units. "They continue to win share in the U.S. market and that's more than made up for what the direction of the market has taken of late," he added. U.S. auto sales dropped in July as weakness in the housing market sapped demand, raising concern about the further impact of credit squeeze on U.S. consumption. The Nikkei newspaper said the new target includes sales by subsidiaries Hino Motors Ltd and Daihatsu Motor Co Ltd and the plan will be announced on August 31 when the company is expected to hold a briefing on business plan. In 2006, Toyota sold 8.8 million vehicles, slightly falling short of General Motors Corp's 9.1 million, according to the Nikkei. Toyota declined to comment on the news report. Toyota is cranking up market share in mature regions such as North America and Europe with fuel-efficient cares such as the Prius hybrid and RAV4 crossover as well as entry into the full-sized pickup truck segment with the Tundra. Detroit-based weekly Automotive News said in June that Toyota outsold GM by about 128,000 units last year based on a technicality that excludes sales of vehicles at minority-held subsidiaries. GM, meanwhile, has claimed the top spot for 76 years, including 2006. Richter of CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets said Toyota will likely gain a sizable lead against GM going forward. "Now the gap between them is very small and Toyota is slightly number one. But the image I have when I look at it is that the gap between these companies will get bigger as time passes," he said. The Nikkei report failed to lift Toyota shares, which ended down 0.5 percent at 6,500 yen. The benchmark Nikkei average finished the day virtually flat.
  12. i bet they never mention fuel ecconmy either... according to epa the 5.7 gets 14-18 mpg, polluting 11.8 tons of greenhouse emisions a year where as the vehicle they chose got a 16-20 mpg, 10.8 tons of greenhouse emissions... sure if they wanted to beat up gm... they could have picked the 6.0 13-18mpg 12.2 tons of greenhouse emissions... interesting the toyota 5.7 gets better fuel ecconomy & emissions then the 4.7 the annual fuel costs of all the tundras are on average 200$ more a year then the Chevys...
  13. the problem is... two cars are very hard to do comparasons with... almost all vehicles are bigger or smaller, different classification, designed for different age groups, designed for different household incomes... but this is just plain bad journalism... its understandable to state that you went the cheapest you could go, one offered a manual the other didnt, one offered optional a/c... or if you go the most expensive... one offered 10 cd change, the other only 6... one has a sun roof, the other a moon roof or a panaramic sunroof... but when u compare vehicles you must do so equally and fairly... if a vehicle offers something the other doesnt... sure compare that, but when they both offer something, then only supply it on one vehicle... how is that reasonable? if you are going to tout off road capabilitys... the gm vehicle better be equipted with the locker... if your going to compare options sure... the tundra has a power retractable rear window... gm doesnt offer that... if your going to compare engines, dont match up a cobalt and a z06... its just not fair comparson, not only is it not fair, its not reasonable... i could understand if consumer reports said... this is the most we could get for say 35$ for each manufacture... but this wasnt the case... sure you can compare toasters side by side... this toaster can do 6 slices instead of just 4... or hey this toaster can also be used as a toaster oven, and it still fits in the same amount of space as a regular toaster... or this laundry machine's tumble was noisy compared to another brand but it got the was done in half the time... this is what consumer reports... reports most, appliances, no wonder they go for the appliance automotive manufacture? ive seen anything from condom reliablity, sound systems, interior and exterior paints, computer manufactures, and cars... so how a company goes from condoms to cars and finds so many trusted readers... you've got me... but i surmise that because people like my dad, has had good luck with the refrigerators, dishwashers, and laundry machines... they must be spot on with their vehicle choices as well... ohh my favorite thing about consumer reports is, it feeds off itself... the way they predict their reliablity is through their client base, those who read their magazines get an annual survey regaurding their products... and they never publish the number of surveys accounted for each model... i would never subscribe to this bais magazine, that means of the 4 GM vehicles i have owned, my lack of problems was never registered on their scoreboard...
  14. well this of course cant be true... the toyota is newer then the silverado, and the silverado is using a tested powertrain unlike the recalled toyota this is about as equal as the chevy vrs ford video i put on youtube... when the silverado came out... it was 1500 (biggest motor) vrs F150 biggest motor... well there was almost a 70 hp difference, the tug of war wasnt fair at all... not to mention gm's locking differencial would have been the saving grace on any motor vrs the competition
  15. you wont notice a problem on a one time usage... i think problems will expose them on a normal vehicle after 6 months + of exposure to the ethyl alcohol
  16. if we all listened to consumer reports, we'd probably all have a prius in our drive way, a wirlpool refrigerator, a mr coffee coffee pot, and trojan condoms, ps3's (instead of xbox360), and probably little stuffed toys that are never sewed together with a sharp needle... but this isnt a world about putting something in the middle of the room with some engeneers and disecting it...
  17. well if u think about it... i think its similar to my dads retirement worries... in a year or two he will retire... and he has two retirement funds that will come in at that point... both around 80k a year, which isnt bad... but as the dollar inflates the average of about 3-5 % per year, my dad went with the middle of 4% after 14 years thats 56% of inflation, and i didnt even compound it... its probably several points above that... so as inflation takes its path, although operating income or capital is the same... my dad has aproximatly half as much income or as he puts it, buying power... and if Toyota has a bank account with $x.... and the cost of car xyz climbs and toyota continues for the year to have the same price in the united states... will cut their profits short, or eat into bank account with $x
  18. let me explain the differences between a flex fuel and a regualr vortec motor... ethenal has alchol in it... and the alchol will disolve, eat up, erode the regular plumbing including fuel lines injectors seals on fuel pumps... so if your using ethonal on a regular vehicle it will chew up all this rubber type things, and these small particles have a chance of clogging your injectors... but... Flex Fuel vehicles have thought about this prior to their design... thus, they use rubber seals and rubber hoses that arent going to be eroded by the alchol in ethonal... thus its safe for your injectors.... almost all gas stations have 10% ethonal in their fuel as it is... but the reason they might have said this is because of the lack of fuel ecconomy while using the ethonal, they may not understand that ethonal is not burning at its ideal compression when used in a petrolium engine... ... its your choice... but its not bad for your vehicle... perhaps e-85 doesnt have the detergants that regualr fuel has who knows...
  19. umm... let me think about this... i dont know the origin of the astra, but it looks very similar to the aveo... but i know its being imported from europe... so i'm wondering if this is a GMDAT design manufactured in europe... if this is true... GM should be making a killing of they can sell this thing for 15,9... thats the price of a loaded aveo...
  20. my wonder if toyota industries is struggling financially... is toyota motors shifting any burdons onto its partially owned toyota industries to show profits and to gain marketshare without aquiring negative media... ?
  21. Ever heard of Toyota Industries? No, not thatToyota (NYSE: TM). Toyota Industries is the original Toyota, founded in 1926; it spun off the far more familiar automotive division in 1937. Though it trades on the Pink Sheets, Toyota Industries' relatively low valuation and lucrative partial interest in its more famous offspring could make it a Foolish opportunity. What began as a company to make looms for textiles now manufactures forklifts, cars, and auto parts. The Rav4 and Yaris are both manufactured by Toyota Industries, but bear the Toyota Motors logo. Confused yet? It gets better: Toyota Motors owns 23.5% of Toyota Industries, and Toyota Industries owns 5.55% of Toyota Motors. (Japanese companies love cross-holdings.) As one of the largest holders of Toyota Industries, mutual fund maven Marty Whitman of Third Avenue Value has made a killing. Whitman likes to buy stocks of companies trading below breakup value. That means that if you took the company, sold off its assets, and paid off its debt, you'd have more per share than what you invested. Whitman's been steadily adding to his position for years, which may have helped his fund average more than 16% a year since its inception in 1990. Whitman isn't just seeking to buy undervalued companies -- he also wants to see growth from their underlying assets. In Toyota Industries' case, those assets are its big stock holding in Toyota Motors. The car division's stock is up about 150% in the last 10 years. It's on track to be the world's largest auto manufacturer in a few years, while its biggest competitor, General Motors (NYSE: GM), has junk-rated bonds. With Toyota Industries, a member of the Fortune Global 500, down roughly 15% from its high for the year, now might be a good time to investigate its shares. The popularity of Toyota Motors' cars worldwide won't wane any time soon, and Toyota Industries might be a good -- and inexpensive -- way to benefit from that trend. http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/ticker/ar...9&Symbol=GM
  22. sure, not sure if 25% tax is correct, and again what is the taxed based on... but.. those vehicles that u mentioned are the worst sellers, theyve been selling for years but so units, because of their price difference to their competetors... land cruiser? 60k? but anyway... consider another 20% tax or so... but all this is telling japan, lets play fair... and you dont have to worry about this tax... so all it does it take the profits away from the outside corpetations... to make it a fair playing feild for the american companies... hopefully this law will pass because obsessive profits are only hurting us and not really benifiting them...
  23. well like they learned with the LT1 and LS1, alluminum helps cool things down expecially if ur going to put compression up to 12:1 alluminum means lighter weight, faster coolings radiator... but most likely has to do with heat from compression ratio... just like the reverse cooling system was designed to allow the LT1 to have high compression with a good cooling system... dont think it was the greatest cooling system but it worked...
  24. did u read the part about the compression ratio going from 9.9 to 12.0?
  25. chirs cagle - anywhere but here then brooks and dunn - proud of the house we built
