lol i hate customers that want to deal with apples and oranges... here in so cal... uplanders are like... 22-30k i think... corollas are like 14-23?k so maybe but the value isnt going to be there a top of the line corolla vrs a bottom uplander... ohh well

apparently Chevy has done this before... I was talking with my dad... Chevy was building the Cavalier also selling the prism... and some chevy dealers were putting the Corolla on the showroom... now to me this sounds horribly stupid seeing that the corolla and prism were almost identical... but i guess they were trying to sell the cavalier better by showing off the corolla... i dont know that it worked very well...

but remember all those types of mods... can be assumed as aftermarket testing... the only time you will get spy pictures is when something sounds extremely crazy driving around a professional track testing... or body modifications are made... rims, exhaust, induction, etc. are alll things that can be tested without anyone noticing unless the turbo is really loud like some poeple were saying the blue devil (sc?) was...

agreed... i always heard the statement... the best way to sell a silverado is to put it next to a f150... i guess this philosophy is against the car leader... hopefully this will be strong enough... i know what you mean about sales persons... i wish gm would make its GM certified program more extensive and require that the employees be certified prior to sales of gm vehicles... or something to improve the job secruity of these sales people... so they wont want to leave...

thats what im hoping on so we can have a much more competative truck... also id say for GM to do what ford does and make the 6500's and what not look identical to the 3500's... just huge... but are we refering to the kodiaks for sale or the w-series or the t-series cause i like the kodiaks..
-
lol i totally forgot... neither does my allison... but the 6 speeds got them... haha my allison in the Hemtt i drive at work doesnt have a leather wrapped... anything minus the rear axel...
-
if i remember correctly all GMT900 SUV's have leather wrapped handle... and all Allyson transmissions trucks did too... not sure about pre99
-
okay well im sure if the whole motor is functional... i wonder if he uses each side to his advantage... isnt ohv more efficent at high rpms? then flat head for low rpms? similarly to a dual cam vehicle...

dont you think i know this first hand... probably better then most... spending a year on a chevy lot... ive seen very few import humpers... and even few who want a car... many people are willing to admit that toyota honda and nissan cant build a competative truck... but many fewer are willing to admit that the domestics build a better car... the problem here is perception... that perception that wipes the smile off your face... thats what gm needs... to me its horrible to see someone come home for the first day with their xB... yuck! but i remember so many... even import lovers... get a hard on... with that first CTS rolled around the corner... or was sitting at the light... I think this new Malibu can do for chevy what the cts did for cadillac... and hopefully the impala will reinforce the idea... many people want to beleive in GM and Ford... but see no reason to... this might be the foot in the door... the hole in the damn... the dealerships are very good about getting price whores onto the lots... now... they just got to talk to them for half a minute on the showroom... about the malibu vrs camry...
-
but... put the competition in the same show room... and it is a quick learning for the salespeople how to compare and contrast for the customer for the dealerships benifit... at our dealership we always called it feature - explain the feature advantage - explain the advantage over the competition benifit - how this benifits the customer and if a salesperson can effectively explain all 3... this camry vrs malibu... could turn into a entire chevrolet dealership network of experianced sales staff that can actually start to "sell" Chevy again... something that has been lost since the 80's
-
the only advantage for gm to sell this... is to redesign their unit... make them look more modern... make them look more like chevys and GMC's... but i disagree if the point is to get out of the medium duty trucks... this is where ford schools gm...

is it possible that these two styles of engines arent using the same crank shaft? i mean obviously it seems like they are completely different motors... one seems like a... slightly modified chevy v8 the otherside... i dont recognize one bit... is there an H style engine...? like VW makes W8's is there an H configuration? in which 2 different fuel types or 2 different style motors could coexist?
-
but arent the vehicles still going to be assembled here in the states?
-
so they are saying... this firm will control it for a few years build its value back up... then sell it again... if its 7.4 billion now... i would assume it would be at least worth 20 billion before they let it go again... who is going to be willing to spend that?
-
when i was at the dealership the last couple days i noticed a couple of umm... what are they called... stand alone poster things... and they were comparing what chevrolet was offering and exclusively had toyota at the top and ford honda and others down on the bottom... but almost directly compared the chevy to toyota... and one of these posters was sitting on each table... i think it was pointing out onstar mostly but also i heard a commercial on the radio that was like... Chevy has like twice as many vehicles score 5 stars on frontal crashes over toyota... the radio was singing to me...

i think GM is trying to go toward the new camaro engine display... but its hard to make the engine cover look that classy as in the concept...
-
ive done it before in the 98 camry... and it pops right back out
-
to me looks like a hard top kappa? I was almost gonna say saturn till I noiced the obvious chevrolet banner

yes... I've got a 2001 with the 8.1 I had ordered a 2006 for a customer... well production had stopped for the 2006 models... so I ordered a classic 07 and still got it... but as far as I know production is no longer for the silverados and definatly not the avalanche or suburbans... just the 4500+ commercial vehicles...
-
the reason gm did not raise its gcvwr is because if it exceeds 26000 lbs.. the drver would need a class B liscense... so... I think the truck is much more capable than 26k lbs... but... regaurdless... trucks are as powerful as the government will let general population drive... you must remember these aren't commercial trucks... technically... but... anywho lets compare... I've gota 8.1 with 5speed alyson 2001 ext... my buddy a 8.1 5speed alyson 2002 crew... my mom has a v10 f350 2003... when she pulls her 4 horse trailer up this hill she crawls up at 30-35mphm... when my buddy pulls his toy haller fully loaded with his furnature... 75 mph...

you can't compare the 1500 to the 2500hd... for one they are different chassis and different trannys... also they are different engines... while the 6.0 vortecMax is a similar the the ls2 where as the hd motor is iron and designed completely different... the 6.0 and 8.1 are designed more closely to the ls1... although the bore and stroke has been changed from the car motor... also the heads and intake runners are different... the vortecmax and the hd 6.0 are not similar at all...
-
the titan doesn't open 170*... they only open like 165... so that's why gm claims that...
-
so far its awesome... getting to do some things that civilians would never get to do or see... firing m16's and going through a gas chamber... combat training... repelling down a 50 ft wall with just a rope... we are trained to kill... its kinda frightening if you really think about it... but so far no regrets...
-
so we are on chrismas break... half way done with basic training... whats new in the C&G world?
-
yea i guess... although wouldnt the SS version just be a vortexMax w/ a lowered/performance body?
