What do you think of the retro craze?
I'm with Hudson, 100%. His statements echo exactly why I'll never, ever like the current Mustang or forthcoming Challenger, no matter what's under the hood. The Mustang looks like a bloated, melted copy of the 1968 Mustang, while the Challenger looks EXACTLY like it did in 1970. Camaro is at least a few notches above these, because it draws from all generations (to varying degrees) and the overall effect (to me)is "futuristic". I think the A&S Caddies come closest to ground-breaking designs (at least the CTS). They signlehandedly brought the jellybean era to a screeching halt.

I *heart* this: Except for the non-stock ride height and poor choice of wheels.- Word Association

In all seriousness, I think this blows away any of the other choices:- The Help Camino Thread
If you're not tied to GM, I think the Dodge Magnum RT might do it for you. Otherwise, I like what I've read so far about the Trailblazer SS...maybe you can get a decent deal on one.- Word Association

Careful...the SH-AWD in the RL does it. I believe it sends up to 70% of the power to the rear tires.- Word Association

Don't forget the Murano...it's on the same platform as Alt/Max/Quest.GM really needs to consolidate their platforms. With all this talk about "architectures", they still have too many. For RWD, they have Kappa, Global RWD (Holden VE), Sigma, and Y-body. There's no reason why they can't cut that list in half, if not combine all those into on. The same thing exists on the FWD side -they have Delta, Epsilon, G, W (on the way out), Theta, and, soon, Lambda.- 2006 NAIAS: 2007 Ford Shelby Cobra GT500
Neither. It's the rest of the car that appears big and bloated.- Chicago: 2007 Toyota Tundra
That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. Like the Ram, it's an attempt to make a truck that just oozes masculinity. Now let's all do our Tim Allen impersonations..."ARGH ARGH ARGH ARGH" And that center stack looks horrible. It looks like two different center stacks glued together down the middle.- Word Association

Now I'm not sure that this has changed or not, but we were told that the BLS was not for America, at least not this generation. The powertrain options and size are more akin to the tastes of Europeans, many of whom view the CTS as an oversized barge of a car. Personally I think they did a fantastic job differentiating it from a 9-3. It's no less distant from the 9-3 than the G6 is from the Malibu. If it takes off, perhaps a next generation BLS will be made on the global RWD platform.- Word Association

We were told that all the new high value engines were going to get 3v heads, and they were capable of adding 30hp over the same engine with 2v head. They'd also be available as over the shelf upgrades to existing 2v head engines. I'm guessing either it's the money issue, or they found a compatibility problem that shouldn't be released on production cars, like the 3900s that make noise when fitted with VVT, or something like that.- Car Spotting
2006 Trailblazer. I had to do a double take because I thought it was a new Tahoe. Lincoln Mark LT crew cab. Looked like some F-150 owner got a $1500 gift certificate to JC Whitney for his birthday. Not very impressive at all.- 21st Century Shaggin Wagon
hopefully it's a 2dr. A 4dr with no rear windows would look kind of lame.- Driving at night...
Taillights are a big issue with me. Automakers seem to be at a loss as to how to create a unique looking taillight setup. It really makes you appreciate cars like the Deville, Corvette, and even the last Impala....even at night, you knew what you were following.
