  1. Read the full article here. "Hummer needs some more products. It needs two or three more products to give it sufficient market coverage," General Motors Vice Chairman Bob Lutz told reporters at the opening of a Hummer dealership in Paris. Lutz said making a Hummer-branded pickup truck, which would have ample passenger seating, remained an "option."
  2. I like it...it's an Impala with angles. Rear end is a tad boring though.
  3. I like the back end. The profile is okay, but there are just too many lines by that c-pillar.
  4. Having the line where the hood is and then having the line underneath it is a really really bad idea. The concept didn't look like that, did it?
  5. oh, the music is cool - we have no problem there.
  6. I thought it was trashy of MT to do this as a cover story. It doesn't belong on the cover because it puts pressure on GM to do something that is logistically improbable. That being said, I think it looks really spiff. And if it would be made in America in decent volume then it could work. But to put a chop on the cover and give a portrayal that the upper management is holding this awesome thing back when that isn't the case at all just seems wrong to me.
  7. Okay, so what about Suzuki's 7/100k fully transferrable warranty then? around 14k a year, much closer to that estimate. And if you drive more conservatively (As I've done with the 3/36k on my Sable), then you get two more years. I'm not saying that GM's warranty is bad...I'm just contending their claim that it's the best, cause I don't like that Suzuki is "America's #1" and Hyundai is "America's Best". 100k miles is 100k miles no matter what, so wouldn't it make sense that having the option of 7 or 10 years to stretch it out would make the longer warranty 'better'?
  8. Are we defining 'the best' as how many miles per year you can drive under warranty? Because even though Hyundai does have a ton of loopholes, 10/100k is better than 5/100k to me.
  9. Front end is inoffensive, which is good for Toyota. I like the profile, but I'm not sure about the FJ-sized door handles and that ridiculous door handle for the backseats. I do like that the double cab looks like a crew cab, though I wonder what it'll be like to sit in the backseat and have a smaller window. The HVAC gauges look kinda cheap, I wonder how they'll feel. Those back taillights are ugly. So in terms of style it's almost on par with American, which is saying a lot for Toyota. I'll leave the performance reviews for people who know something about trucks though
  10. It surprises me that the 4x2 Tacoma is the big seller...I only saw maybe two go through the dealership I worked at for a couple months. The 4x4 sold much better and is way better product. Incentives helped the Tundra out nicely.
  11. Dang it, the Ranger is the most outdated truck on the road, and it still outsells the Dakota? And Ford is considering dropping this segment? (Maybe I was misinformed.) I would also like to know what the government is doing with 2 Subaru Bajas
  12. gogo CMU! This competition fascinates me, cause soon enough the technology will be in our cars There's a Forbes article out about the driverless Touareg, it was a good read.

    camry craze

How many Solaras are contributing to this? And how much does the Solara share with the new Camry? And is the only reason they call it a Camry Solara anymore is so that they can put the sales figures together? Cause this gen of the Solara is nothing like any of the other Camrys. Do they put the sales of the Matrix in with the Corolla as well? And how will the total number of Camrys sold figure here, seeing as the Solaras are '06s and the Camrys are '07s? Are they going to count all '07s towards this figure, as well as the '06 Solara count? Not to downplay the Camry, it's Toyota's best offering of the vehicle. And if it didn't say 'Camry' on it I'd probably like it. But adding Solara figures just seems shady because its exterior and interior have nothing in common at all. Is it common to do this to vehicles?
  14. Suppose I bought a new TV for college at Best Buy on a Saturday, and the next day I see the weekly Best Buy ad for tons of TVs on sale. Do I distrust Best Buy now? No. (well, they generally are overpriced, but that's beside the point here.) When newer stuff comes out, the older stuff gets discounted. This is economics. Every other market fluctuates a lot in order to bring different people in and cater to different crowds. Why are we crucifying GM for trying to do the same? And if people don't want GM vehicles...I dunno. What does GM have, like 25% of the market share? Those people aren't being dragged by the GM KGB kicking and screaming, forced at gunpoint to buy their new vehicle.
  15. That looks like a Hyundai...are they gonna make the new one into a wagon? Cause a Chevy wagon that looked like that would be unacceptable
  16. yes. that's a lot more time to test vehicles and prevent recalls and other reliability issues.
  17. ack...it's an upside down camry se grille! booooo
  18. While the outside of the Avalon is offensive, the inside is pretty nice, and while the engine isn't the best it is pretty solid. Getting the crease out of the outside profile would work wonders. They can afford to wait on the Sienna; it won't look outdated until Fairlane and the new DCX minivans. The current Sienna looks better than the Odyssey IMO, and the Quest refresh didn't make it look much more modern than Toyota's van. The Solara should come first here, though I don't want to see a Camry/Yaris style grille on it!
  19. It looks better here than in the promo pictures, IMO... It fills a void under the Durango, and therefore will draw some buyers who want a Dodge but want to save on gas. It's a smart move, though the execution of design is a bit off.
  20. People don't want it either...I've been working at a Toyota dealership this summer and I haven't seen a single RAV with the third row.

    LS460 spec'd

"The LS 460 will travel from 0-to-60 miles per hour in approximately 5.4 seconds. With that level of performance, the new LS is estimated at 19 mpg city and 27 mpg highway by the EPA testing method. Lexus is targeting an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle II (ULEV II) rating for the LS." That's kinda nice... It's a bit vanilla in terms of styling and the front end is like any Toyota/Lexus (thorougly mediocre at best), but it does look nice enough on the outside. The inside looks okay. The center vents; they seem too high and I don't like how they flare out. And that glove box seems huge. What's up with that gas pedal? It looks weird. The two-seat second row is beastly. "Audiophiles will be blown away by the optional Mark Levinson Reference Surround, a 19-speaker audio system that pumps out 450 watts of power." 19 speakers? Wow. I suppose if someone gave me this car I'd drive it
