  1. Never thought of it like that, Caddy.
  2. Croc, are you aware there is no law making you say the Pledge and on top of that you can even leave the word "God" out of it by yourself? How are you affected by a word that isn't mean or derogative? Are you offended by Allah or Moses or just things associated with Christianity? Whether or not you believe the Consitution explicitly states there is a separation between church and state you have to realize that government cannot endorse any religion, including atheism (it is a religion). Remember, it's freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. This is exactly what I was talking about in my previous posts. A small group of people trying to impose their will on the majority over things like the word God. Now Americans can't pray in public schools or at public school functions, public schools have to call their break during the Christmas season "Winter Vacation" instead of "Christmas Vacation," towns can't have a cross as a part of their logo, cities can't display the Nativity scene during Christmas celebrations (but are free to display the Islamic Crescent during Ramadan and Menorah during Hanukkah), and college students can't have a Christmas tree in their dorm hallway. These are all actual court rulings. Whose rights are being squashed now?
  3. I love how it looks like it was painted, stl.
  4. The '03 Ion's streering wheel is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Who rides in a bumper car?
  5. Obviously the points are lost on some of you. People may go to college for physically easier jobs but the jobs they want and end up obtaining are probably more mentally and emotionally demanding. Surely being a doctor is a hell of a lot more stressful than building cars or putting in plumbing. Doctors also work their asses off both in and out of school, hence why they're paid by the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Razor, there are currently no threads like that for each of the following reasons: 1) Corporate America: without it you wouldn't have a job and if you were lucky enough to have one it would probably be out in the fields working for less money with no benefits. 2) Wall Street: without it you wouldn't have the analysts, consultants and business people who understand the economy and make capitalism work. 3) Rich doctors: without them you'd be dead. 4) Government: without it a little something called anarchy would prevail (and some of you are moaning about the lack of help the government is giving you). Go take a look at the countries that don't have one or more of the above and see if you like what you see. I guarantee you won't.
  6. That would be the inner-city school system and I think the problem of attitudes and culture are just as huge as the problem regarding funding. You can throw billions at schools but if the kids who attend them don't care about learning and would rather spend more time peddling drugs, banging hos and dreaming about becoming a rap star (or just living the rap star life without the fame and fortune), you're wasting money.
  7. How is the acceleration?
  8. It's good that the new midsize cars are actually going to be at dealerships by the time the official launch is, like that shouldn't be obvious.
  9. Interesting points, Olds. Overall, I think I can see a silver lining. Yes, sales were down this month due to low inventories, ramp up production for new vehicles and the fact that few people want big trucks/suvs but look at the new car sales. Like others have pointed out, they look good and, for the most part, it's just starting. I always thought the HHR was going to be huge and it is. It's great that the Cobalt is attracting conquest buyers. The H3 was a shot in Hummer's arm. There will continue to be a lull in sales as new vehicles are introduced, production is ramped up and consumers are weened from employee pricing.
  10. Razor, unions asking for the everything and then some are part of the problem, too. Surely it may not be the root of the problem but it's a problem. I said nothing about Americans working for minimum wage or forgetting about retirement. Expecting $70,000+ (including pay and benefits) on a high school education is rediculous. Many college graduates don't even see that and if they do, it's later on in life. You can knock down all the trade barriers and excuse GM for making mostly substandard cars for the last few decades but let's face it: it costs less to live in China and manufacture goods in China because of the quality of life, rules and regulations, cost of goods, etc. Of course a company is going to go over there when there is a huge difference in costs.
  11. It disturbs me when a single person can have the words "under God" removed from the pledge (let alone a judge actually agreeing with him) or when a group of people is given special consideration because of what happened in the past. Yes, every American is entitled to their fundamental rights though not at the expense of the rights of the majority, however.
  12. That was the worst season of AI and not just because an illiterate unwed young mother won. At least she didn't actively try to have a child. I'm sorry she was raped but I don't think she should be blaming herself for what happened.
  13. I really don't see how not buying American-made cars is "selling out."
  14. Welcome to the United States of Double Standards and the United States of Constantly Appeasing the Minority. It's disturbing to me. Democracy is supposed to be "majority rules" but it seems different in the U.S. Hell, you can't even racially profile in airports because it's "racist." I do and you best believe when I see 5 terrorists on board I'm getting off. Who has a better chance of blowing up the plane: 70-year old Esther or 22-year old Mohammed?
  15. That's what business is all about, PK. Companies are in existance to solely make money. Some car companies know how to design cars cheaply but make them look like they're more expensive than what they really are and others don't. Some car companies realize that spending $50 more to manufacturer an automobile is, for the most part, worth it in the end and others don't.
  16. Clown, the American economy and the government budget wouldn't last very long under your solution. Like CarBiz mentioned, Japan is one of a few nations who heavily buy U.S. Treasury Bills (because U.S. citizens don't). They allow the country to operate in times of a budget deficeit (which is almost always). By forcing them to pay HEAVY tariffs they'd stop buying treasury bills and we'd fall apart.
  17. Illegal immigrants. It's amazing liberal groups like the ACLU are fighting for their rights (as well as the rights for terrorists). ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT AMERICAN CITIZENS OR LEGAL VISITORS TO THE U.S. SO THEY DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHTS AMERICAN CITIZENS OR LEGAL VISITORS HAVE. Put them on planes, send them back. Build a "Great Wall of America" between Mexico - U.S. and Canada - U.S. so the military doesn't have to be deployed on the borders to try to stop these people.
  18. I hate BO (and fear having it) so I have a few different types of cologne. On girls, I personally like "Light Blue" by Dolce & Gabbana and "Curious" by Britney Spears. I hate perfumes that smell like soap or flowers. Here are the cologne brands I have, ranked in order of what I like the best. 1) "Fierce" by A&F 2) "Touch" by Burberry 3) "Curve" by Liz Claiborne 4) "Crave" by CK 5) "Pour Homme" by Givenchy 6) "Aqua di Gio" by Armani 7) "London" by Burberry 8) "Baby Blue Jeans" by Versace 9) "Happy" by Clinique 10) "Perry Ellis" by Perry Ellis
  19. A very good investment. Your good buddy Harry Reid, Josh, has done some questionable fundraising activities, too.
  20. I know this isn't the whole problem but just so everyone knows it, the Bush administration has supported a "weak dollar" policy because it supports our economic interests (for obvious reasons). Of course Japan is going to have a weak Yen policy, just like Australia's going to have a weak AUD policy and Canada's going to have a weak CAD policy. It benefits their countries. The more disturbing and problematic aspect of Japan's current economic policies is the fact it does not allow US manufacturers to sell many vehicles in Japan. That's the biggest problem I see and it needs to be remedied. I support Toyota but not when it comes to this.

    Kia

LOL. It may pain me to say it but it looks retarded.
  22. Razor, they were also complaining about a 10-minute reduction in break time. Boo hoo...they can't deal with 35 minute break rather than a 45 minute (what they had and still have)? Plus, that's still $936 x how many thousands of people? That's just for the first year, too, as you pointed out. I smell development money that could go into making better/cooler cars that sell without rebates.

    Hyundai

I doubt BMW and Merc have something to worry about.
  24. It doesn't look that bad but the concept was better looking. I don't like how the center stack and console are not lined up correctly.
