  1. Until now, I was convinced that all the stupid people in the world had in fact moved or run the borders to america... I'm sorry; apparently I was wrong.
  2. I checked on it a few years ago and the savings were HUGE. But I wanted to hold off until I got the cars a little further along (Because the insurance is based on what the cars appraise for) LOL... Death before Toyota! LOL I'm only 25 but I'm already finding gray hairs in my goatee... Maybe that qualifies me for bland "my car" land... That's an excellent point! So far I haven't had any trouble finding "acceptable" parking places but I'm also not afraid to hike what feels like a mile to class either. I went to check out the car today and it was pretty much all that I had hoped for; a nice slightly used F-Body that I could clean up to be something very nice. I did not test drive it though because I'm not sure about financing right now (Not that I couldn't get financed, just haven't checked on it) I did sit in it and discover that I am very cramped and that I hate the GM coal chamber interior. But honestly, I'm so big that I'm pretty much cramped in ANYTHING this side of a conversion van. Anyway, I'll keep everyone posted but right now it looks like odds are still on the Focus.
  3. Good. america doesn't support GM. so GM shouldn't support america. Seriously though, I really hate to see Toyota move in to areas where GM once was the only horse in town. (For example: Toyota now sponsors FFA, Tractor Supply and Bass Pro Shops as their MAIN truck) These are small, but very influential positions in the "truck market" Another example is Nascar.... As big a waste of money as it is, I still think 'yota will benefit from it at Detroit's expense.
  4. Ok... Apparently the poll option didn't work. Oh well.
  5. My current daily driver (as most of you know) is a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3. Recently I ran across a Trans Am that looks to be in my price range (finally) So, I'm going to drive the Pontiac tomorrow and if I can swing it I *might* trade. But I'm really attached to the Focus and it's excellent gas mileage. THE BREAKDOWN 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 * 2.0L DOHC I-4/ 5 speed manual * 84,900 miles * Excellent gas mileage/Generally fun to drive * Paid off in roughly 2 years * Positive equity 1998 or 1999 (Not sure which) Pontiac Trans Am * LS1/ 6 speed manual * 85,000 miles * All the options including leather * $8900 takes it home * Not a WS6 unfortunately The main thing about the Focus is that it's a nice car that I'm not upside down on but it's not really my persona. I've always wanted a Trans Am and it would fit me so much better, yet it would probably be a bit higher payment and would be another 2 or so years of payments. According to EPA.GOV I'd be losing 5 MPG in the city and 2 MPG on the highway (The highway is most important because of my frequent trips home) that works out to roughly $300 more per year in fuel. The other expense concern would be insurance. I have a picture perfect driving record, but naturally it will be more $$$ than the Focus but I could offset some of that cost by switching my Camaros to classic car insurance. I'm not sure what to do... I'd love to have the Trans Am, but I'm not sure I want to give up the characteristics of the Focus and I'm not sure I want to buy a car that is 2-3 years older. UPDATES ON LIFE 1) I haven't been around much lately because I cut off the internet at my house. I figured I'd try to brave one month without internet before I move back to school and hook up the cable. 2) My family recently purchased a Buick... TA-DA, a low mileage 1993 Regal Custom now resides in my driveway (white wall tires, wire hubcaps and all) to cut down on fuel costs as the Silverado has been parked. It's not a bad car, has the 3800 and reminds me a lot of my 1990 Lumina from back in the day (Not a good thing nessecerily, since it is supposed to be a few steps up) I don't really like driving it though because it seems so floaty and is extremely hard for me to get in and out of. 3) I recently posted the topic about needing custom plates for the Camaros... I think I have decided to take Camino's suggestion on the '68 and get "Primal" meaning first/original and I think I have settled on "Thrash" for the '73 because of my love for thrash metal. That would incorporate my two loves, cars and music. And, too, with the 406 and all the car does thrash a lot.
  6. Wow... Didn't even wait one paragraph to take a $h! on Detroit and 'hail the new king' (slurp, slurp) And I'm INFORMING YOU that when you "estimate" it is neither fact nor news but rather GOSSIP Wow... Some completely made up bull$h! equation that *possibly* *predicts* *maybe* *based on* yadda yadda.... Jesus, we're wasting our time reading this?!?!?!! Ooohhhh... Look out Detroit! I'm sorry, and usually facts aren't "Give or take"..... And yes, yes, praise almighty Toyota for digging GMs grave a little deeper... And whoop-te-do and all that for beating 76,000 sales... Call me when Toyota outsells the Silverado or F-150, then it might be news worthy. Wow.. I bet you'll really be beating off over the Turdra by then. Seriously. This article is not even worth reading, it's just a bunch of estimated hogwash. Something akin to whta we here at the forum would be shot down for in our first post. GMC has never been the volume seller of trucks at GM and given that 1) they are a premium brand and 2) the truck has received hardly any marketing (That is worth of crap) it is to be expected... P.S. And I agree that it is the better looking of the two GMT900 trucks.
  7. True that... lets hope the HHR can cash in on the market.
  8. See, there is so much wrong with that entire process that it isn't even funny IMO. Why should import automakers be cut a break in any way? What, because they can't seem to break into the large truck market, now we're going to GIVE IT TO THEM (Believe it or not, I'm sure that is some of the motivation) And why should import autos ingeneral have DIFFERENT regulations??? they now make up a LARGE part of the market. So, since they're NOT MADE IN AMERICA, they get to pollute more by default. Pure bull$h!.... the kind of bull$h! that this country and our JOKE for a government is becoming world famous for.
  9. The panle has apparetly been another wasted opportunity for GM... I have yet to see 1) ANY on the road... 2) ANY at the dealerships and 3) ANYTHING close to remotely informing the consumer that it actually exists. The HHR line could mount such an amazing assault on the Scion craptaculars, yet GM continues to ignore the obvious.
  10. Looks like GM is already beginning to give up on the Aura... Not good at al!
  11. LOL Too easy.... Nevermind.
  12. Good move! So long as it doesn't but heads with the Enclave Super Hopefully it'll be more than just a Colorado now...
  13. That looks skimpy.... I hope the current G6 doesn't have to carry Pontiac on it's shoulders until 2012 without an MCE because if it does the division is toast. The most recent articles I've seen say that the G6 will be sold along side the Alpha Pontiac, much like the rumors of both an Alpha based Saturn as well as the Aura that we heard.
  14. I really hope they 1) Don't let the SRX linger until 2011 without updates or attention and 2) that the XLR update is actually news worthy and not just semantics.
  15. The bias is mostly in opinion related pieces now that the better products are out. But this piece is still biased, panning the otherwise bulletproof 3.6L like no other article has.
  16. It needs attention NOW! That's a LONG time for the Colorado to linger. At least the Chevy truck line up will be awesome in 2012, if GM can make it until then.
  17. I disagree... Chevrolet needs to step it up badly, GM needs more volume. Bring it! Please make it cool and able to compete with the japan 3 this time... WTF?!?! The Cobalt needs help NOW! Bring it! 1) *IF* the Malibu takes off then yes, it should be moved up market. & 2) Why the hell would GM be so stupid as to drop the Impala name? Unless they wanted to call the car bel Air or Chevelle which would be cool but would piss off a WHOOOOLE lot of GM enthusiasts.
  18. How again does that reflect badly on Detroit?!?!! To think that Congress gives (or gave) three $h!s about Detroit in the first place is shortsighted. Just like small electronics, our government will let the ***"free"*** market decide Detroit's fate.
  19. And how is that a bad thing again?
  20. There are so many things wrong with that statement...1) Since when have the 900s been struggling?!?!?! They have one off month and now all of the sudden they're failures? 2) Now since Toyota is bribing customers to buy it's piece of crap, all of the sudden GM's offerings are chopped liver? Funny how the media paints the picture of Toyotas incentive PROBLEM in a positive light. 3) The current Tundra is NOT Toyota's first full-size truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are these people REALLY that stupid????? Or are they just trying to mitigate Toyota's FAILURE in the segment for the last 10 years? Naturally..... Detroit gets screwed regardless. But then, we ALL knew this was coming, now that they Turdra is gaining traction, we get to watch for the next 5 years as Toyota ups production, uses the media to coverup it's defects AND convince the consumer that it is indeed and american automaker, and Detroit LOSES another market while everyone plays dumb and asks "Why is Detroit losing sales?"
  21. LOL, nah, I think she'd be more suited for something butch yet feable, such as Subaru.... Oh wait, they already have an obnoxious female spokesperson: Lance Armstrong.
  22. LOL. Well, I finally upgraded to AIM 6.0 the other day which has done nothing but eff up my laptop and since I'm home for the summer only for a few months I'm on dial up, so tht explains the AIM absence. Can't wait 'til August though; welcome back CABLE INTERNET! Oh, how I've missed thee...
  23. What's sad is that the Aura is even in the comparison... Apparently the f*cking idiots in the media can't get it through their heads that GM's less sophisticated hybrid system is NOT supposed to compete with the Camry and Altima hybrids. It's supposed to appeal to people with less $$$ that want a few more miles. This was just another opportunity to make GM look bad and as usual, edmunds seized the day.
  24. So, essentially Toyota and Nissan have almost DOUBLED their fleet cars this year.... Nice! I guess we see where a large portion of those those !!!RECORD TOYOTA MONTHS!!! are coming from.
  25. I agree 100%!
