A couple of members I miss having around the site
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Camino LS6's topic in The Lounge
More than specific people, I just miss the good ole days... Back when the blogs were the new hot thing to do and back when GM seemed to have a chance (Back before even fans like some of the people here shared condescending views about the company and it's relation to god, err, I mean Japan Inc.) Back when we all got along... Chrominium was cool, but odd. I miss the hell out of Budman3, I miss Josh as well. I miss Rex Raider, CapriceSS, Chazman... Heck there are so many of the older posters that I hardly see anymore, it's hard to list all of them. As for the insiders, well, I don't miss evok at all which is sad because at one time we really got along well (You know, before he was a cheerleader for Toyota and actually supported GM-- Before he joined the Toyota media group) Then I just got tired of the constant "I'm better than you, you're just a dumb kid--worship me" attitude that he carried non-stop (Which is what prompted me to do what I did and the rest is history. This is a volunteer board for enthusiasts, OF COURSE opinion and speculation will be present en masse.) What's even more sad is that some people here huy that $h! hook, line and sinker, tending to walk on egg shells around the 'beloved insiders'; it's sickening. AH-HA was always cool, but I don't think he liked me very much and I think the pissing match between him and Josh was just completely uncalled for. I don't think what AH-HA did was right but at the same time I'm not sure a message board is worth "outing" someone and almost costing them their career. I could've done that to one of the insiders I disagreed with (bet you can't guess who) but I just don't think a clash of opinions is worth that much. -
While GM grows overseas, US must not be forgotten
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Flybrian's topic in General Motors
The media is already tiring of Toyota... Just look in the lastest issue of Automobile where they chastise the Highlander for being "Not enough to hold the market when better vehicles like the GM lambdas and Mazda CX are on the scene." Or in the latest times article that puts the top Lexus in a very negative light. Or the latest issue of Car & Driver that says the new Scion xB is "a wasted opportunity to give americans something new." Combine that with HUGE quality issues (Trannys going out, camshafts snapping, sludge) and the recnt lower customer satisfaction ratings and Toyota is very steadily heading 'up the creek without a paddle." Now does that mean Toyota will collapse or retract? Probably NOT anytime soon. But I think their rate of growth will slow significantly (a.k.a. they've about peaked) As for TTAC.... That whole site is pretty much a load of horse $h! and should be treated as such. -
Agreed and agreed.... I especially liked the ads that showed people surviving the crashes. What a shame...... Funny this is the first I've heard of the Dieing VW in a good 2 or 3 years. I guess the media was too busy running Detroit into the gound to notice VW P.S. Has anyone seen the new Audi ad that has the car sliding into a parallel parking place and then says "Audi: The luxury car for those who can park themselves." I thought it was an EXCELLENT piece! Funny none of the watch dog groups have bitched about it, oh wait, it's not an american comapny, nevermind.

My seat broke just like that as well. BTW: DF, the waiver from the fireman was to cover his ass and doesn't mean you weren't hurt. Trust me, my dad was a fire chief for 20 years, the only reason they have to make you sign that is so that you can't come back and sue them a year later if something happens. I know here in NC you have a set amount of time to get evaluted by a doctor (3 days I think)

I should clarify that I'm not bashing liberals in general with that above rant. I bashing the extremists; extreme liberals and extreme conservatives are getting out of control IMO. So much so that the mindset is invading our candidates for office (radical fuel saving bills, radical gay marriage measures, etc, etc.---all RADICAL) This is what I meant the other day by "Can't someone just be normal and do what's right for the MAJORITY?" On a related note; we're experiencing a massive building boom here in the mountains where I live (We've always been known as a small town atmosphere with PLENTY of nature and no man's land) The retirees are coing in and building higher and higher up the mountains rapidly. I do not agree with what is happening and I've endorsed a few LEGAL measures to help stop these people from ruining our environment. But then we have the idiot radicals as well, who just last week went up on the side of a mountain where a development was being built and slashed all of the hydraulic lines on the machines.... Now I ask you; what the hell was the point of trying to save the mountain side by slashing the hydraulic lines on the machines so that GALLONS of toxic fluid could run down the hill side and soak into the ground?!?!?! These people are freakin' idiots, man!

Or better yet "How Detroit lost america" when in reality america, because it's full of pompous style concious arrogant assholes, kicked detroit to the curve.

My GF loves the organic PB as well. I like it, but it seems like it's a bit too sweet for my tastes.

Wow... this reminds me so much of my wreck a couple of years ago. Same thing; a truck rear ended me. Sorry to hear about your car man, but you're okay and in the end that's what counts. I would still get checked out by either the ER or a doctors office though just to be safe. When I had my wreck, I felt like a million bucks because my adrenaline was flowing, then I started getting really sore and ended up in the emergency room. From there, it went to having physical therapy 2 times a week for months after the wreck (And still sometimes on occasion if my back decides to be a bitch) If you're like me and remember the whole thing, you'll experience nervousness about being rear ended in the future as well. What will happen is the insurance company will get their estimates and everything and then they'll contact you and try to "buy you out" for a fair amount of money. Normally this figure is modest and serves as their way to try and make you forget about all your/their problems. I never have taken the "buy out" (I've been in 5 accidents--none of them my fault) and I would advise against it as you'll need to add up all of your damage and costs. (repairs to the car, if it's not totalled. Medical bills, lost time at work, emotional distress, towing costs, rental car costs, etc.) Then you can pretty much call them and say, this is what I'll settle for and give them a figure (A reasonable figure of course) Best of luck man.

How is it not that caliber of car? have you driven it? Does it look like less of a car than the 5 series? that's just more of the damned-before-they-even-start inferior domestic logic. Remember, the CTS IS the 5 series competitor this time around. The Alpha based Cadillac will be the 3 series competitor.

Well, it's not hard to see which side the author is on... More un-needed information that shows the true colors of the author. What's MORE ridiculous is that you can't buy what the hell you want and park it on your property in front of your house for fear of some supposedly 'tolerant' piece of $h! extreme liberal deeming it his life goal to FREE the EARTH of your kind and REGULATE everything you do.I can't believe our capital is full of a bunch of pansies... Seems like every city is full of this liberall bull$h! nowadays. People like this are the reason our country sucks now. Of course not, only conservatives condone violence, right? That's because it is.... These very same people who preach that "Love everyone" trash and "Tolerance" BS and "One Love/Celebrate Diversity/whatever the bumper sticker of the month is" are the very same people who thinks it's cool to CHASTISE people over what they drive, what they wear, how they talk, what area of the country they're from etc...And it's especilly bad with THE AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY. It is ESPECIALLY acceptible to criticize me for driving anything american.... If I'm in a Pontiac, all of the sudden I'm the DREADED "Redneck" (Because no one wants to be blue collar or from the south, GOD FORBID) Of course, REDNECK bashing is en vogue now and seems to be accepted by all. If I'm in a Hummer, I hate the environment. If I'm in a Cadillac then I'm a hip-hop wannabe. If I'm in a Buick, then I'm an old person.... The reason GM's division are susceptible to this SABATOGE is because they make an emotional connection with the buyer (Something Japan Inc FAILS to do) Yet, instead of celebrating that (Such as in the collector car hobby) these bastards twist it into something to use against people, something to discriminate with. 1) If he has the money to afford the gas, then who cares. 2) Not all Hummers guzzle gas. Seriously, if you have $40,000 for a Hummer, can't you scrape up $5,000 for a garage? If you don't then the TERRORISTS win, because that's EXACTLY what these people are. They're using fear to dictate YOUR life. It's sad that our society accepts this activity as normal and healthy. I'll tell you what I would do.... I'd repair it as fast as possible and then I'd set her out there as pretty as a peach right on the street. Then I would quietly hide beside the house with YOUR WEAPON OF CHOICE (A gun, a baseball bat, whatever) And when the Hummer haters came back for round two, THEY WOULD BE THE EXAMPLE and I'd make damn sure it'd be an example that people wouldn't want to follow.

WTF?!?!?!?!? Last time I checked, Chevrolet wasn't really doing any of those. Well, now that the cat's out of the bag on that, it won't be long until it's altered. The demand is here, now where are those introductions GM?

UPDATE: Looks like it'll be back on shelves in August. http://media.conagrafoods.com/phoenix.zhtm...&highlight=

Okay, I LOVE peanut butter to the point that I usually have it once a day in some form. So, I'm really getting tired of this JIF $h!. I want my Peter Pan peanut butter back and I want it now dammit! Seriously, has anyone heard an update of any sort on this dire situation??? Is Peter Pan done for good or will it once again grace our shelves some day?

Marketing Ploy or a way to lower inventory
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in The Lounge
LOL... There's plenty of love for american automobiles.... THE "NEW BIG THREE TRANSPLANTS" -
The Chrysler Super 8... (Precursor to the LX cars) At the time I hated it, but now I think it's kinda cool.
-
Since when does america have 4 automakers? I guess the piece of $h! media is automatically including Toyota as an american automaker now? It figures, most of america feels that way anyway and they'll own the market in 5 years. I agree with 68; I'd like to see an Imperial but not one crafted in th image of that craptacular concept.

Choppin' Competition #42 - (A Whole New SAAB) Voting
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Flybrian's topic in Choppin' Competitions
2 - Awesome, yet maybe a bit polarizing. 4- Very cool and looks production ready 3- Cool, but I'd include a more simplistic wheel option. -
Not bad... But the Transformer pun and the Toyota reference pissed me off. (Trying to kill the GM-Transformer buzz and comparing GM to it's arch enemy to make the GM model look way outdated)

Looks like the perfect.... 'ain't' so perfect after all

The best move Washington has ever made!
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
Bush sucks, but I can't imagine what idiot we'll put in there next. Where have the leaders gone? Why can't anyone just do what's right for the masses? Why can't we have a political CHOICE that isn't radical in some way? These are the three things that make me anti-everything the government stands for. -
Toyota Camry meets Nissan 350Z. Not really my cup-o-tea (Too generic) but attractive I guess.
-
Nah... If that were the case you'd be driving a Toyota and working at a Honda dealership trying to regain touch with your youth.
-
I can't blame you one bit... Honestly, GM still doesn't have any really attractive sedans or mid-market cars (Imagine how their sales would be if they did) I bleed GM blue, but if I were in the market for a new sedan there would be a black Charger SRT-8 sitting in my driveway and I wouldn't give it a second thought. Hopefully, with the revival at full tilt (Unless this month killed it) GM will have some nice non-luxury CARS coming out soon for the first time in 10 years. The new Malibu, CTS and G8 look nice but they're still not braison enough for my tastes (I'm talking Trans AM WS6, Camaro SS, Z06, in your face designs) I think that's where the Charger and Challenger excel, except they're not tacky at the same time like some would say the afore mentioned cars were.
-
He pissed me off one too many times. I locked him in my basement. (Of course that was a couple of months ago, I hope he found some sort of food.... Hmmm, maybe I should check) J/K

Not exactly attractive... Might be a performer though! I'm sure everyone will find 1000 things wrong with it though, god forbid GM have a competitive sport compact. (Or the market know that it has one anyway) Hopefully GM can promote this better than it promotes the panel and especially base HHR... This COULD be the cool alternative to Scion, if GM knew how to sell it.
