  1. Nah... GMI has that big debate raging right now (conservative buy american, liberals buy foreign) My take is NEITHER cons or libs like Detroit. Conservatives around here seem to drive Toyotas and Liberals often have Hondas or Subarus (extreme liberals) Yet another ASPECT of our population that the asians worked to (probably collaborated on) "divide evenly down the middle" It's all so perfect, it's almost like an attack or plan. Toyota is the new GM, (big, lots of vanilla cars) Honda is the new Ford (smaller, more detail focus) and Nissan is the new Chrysler (the semi-weird, moody one that produces either big hits or big misses) And the media perpetuates this now too; it's all part of the plan.
  2. Again, I think you're spot on... Not to mention, a lot of people don't even know what the hell a V-Series or SS is. I have a "tuner" buddy from Michigan (of all places) I told him about the Turbo Cobalt and HHR SS and his jaw dropped. He didn't even know they existed. Way to market, GM! Had it been a regular bloke, it wouldn't have bothered me as much. But this guy is a TUNER CAR fanatic.
  3. I agree 100% Re: CTS-V Coupe... If they think it's PC to produce this, then why not just go ahead and produce the Z28? I also think whats killing it for me (with this car) is the stance... The damn car sits too high for the wheel design or body or something. That's where the disconnect from concept to production happened.
  4. You're only as old as you feel.... Hell, I'm stressed out about getting gray hairs and wrinkles already (yeah, it's a viscious spiral) and I'm only 26. I'll be a REAL basket case by the time I'm twice that age... Then you can all come to C&G and make fun of me for real. LOL. BTW, I think this has turned into the coolest thread on C&G in quite some time.
  5. I can only recall one Jaguar (S-Type) that was $h! under the Ford era. But of course, that was used to cast negativity over the entire existence of the brand.
  6. Meh... The persecution won't stop with GM. The media and "street" tried to break Ford a few years ago (unsuccessfully) and seriously weakened it. (ironically, or not, on THEIR centennial) Once Chrysler is liquidated and GM is man handled to where Ford is now, the new focus will be on finding cracks in Ford's armor and executing a tirade of negativity on them. Even now, the "positive" media that Ford gets for not receiving government aid is BEGRUDGING at best. All the while, the media continues to include them in the over all "bailout" agenda and continues to FOIST Toyota and Honda as 'hero' companies that started from nothing and are "losing out because [supposedly] they get no government support"
  7. The one here is gas... Funny story; the campus police actually clocked the cooler one day just for fun and our campus paper wrote a big story about the performance of the cooler. (Guess it was a slow news day... And law enforcement day)
  8. LMFAO.... Metallica wishes they were Megadeth??! I damn near fell out of my chair. Thanks for the laugh! I love both bands, (and I too, am tired of the MetallicA verse Megadeth/MetallicA verses Slayer $h!) but there is just no comparison between the two. I really wish Mustaine would've remained a part of MetallicA though. Just imagine the powerhouse the band would be. Oh, and I agree that Lars is the weakest link in the band. Death Magnetic would've been MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more impressive with a better drummer. Say, someone like John Boecklin from DevilDriver (the best drummer in metal IMO) or Chris Adler from Lamb of God, or even Joey Jordison from Slipknot. BTW, the big 5 bands of thrash = MetallicA, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus and Testament. Megadeth can be counted, but they weren't around at the start of the genre (obviously, since Mustaine was a part of MetallicA)
  9. QFT... That's what I was trying to say. It should be innate to us to preserve our environment, not something that causes un-needed stressors in lives that are already on the brink.
  10. Case in point... To these people (the people I was referring to with the last comment) you serve as confirmation of the stereotype. They don't care who you actually are.
  11. Culture of defeat... Our media has convinced them that they're second class citizens that work for a second class company that deserves to die. Then they can "get an education" and f*ck people over like everyone else by "serving" the Chinese our wealth and "predicting/analyzing" the downfall of what's LEFT of america.
  12. Sure.. Have at it. If GM can't survive, what makes them think an independent Opel can? That'll be an epic fail and fun times to watch.
  13. Hey.. don't mention it! Here in america, we love whoring ourselves out and bending over for anyone we can please.
  14. +1 Too bad americans are so stupid. I am a bit pissed at the germans though. If I were GM, they'd never get Opel back. At the very least, it'd sink with the rest of the ship. It does surprise me though.. Since Opel is considered by many to be a joke.
  15. I still don't understand WTF the big deal is... GM hasn't mentioned ANYTHING about "killing" Opel and I'd suspect EXACTLY the opposite since Opel is vital to the future of the corporation right now. Can someone please enlighten me (Besides the German government trying to control everything and doing what they've always done -- think about it, you'll get the reference)
  16. YellowJacket is making me :rotflmao: So... All this talk of GM doing this as a cost cutting move, yet Zeta is done and redy to rock and roll with minimal to no more investment required... Hmmm... Typical GM. Flushing money down the toilet like it's nothing. Let's spend 100 billion dollars to develop a new AUTOMATICALLY subpar model and throw all that engineering we did 3 years ago down the drain.
  17. I love how, all of the sudden Jaguar is "THE $h!!!!!" now that it is no longer owned by Ford. That's the media for you.
  18. It all goes back to "Pontiac's being for stoopid rednecks." And since some people are afraid of us "stoopid rednecks" and our lifestyles/views (as they should be -- ever see Deliverance?) they seek to eliminate and chastise it. It's just opinion perpetuated into trolling.
  19. Some of the frat punks here have motorized beer coolers. I wish I could afford this, I'd have a drag race through the middle of campus, LOL.
  20. Different strokes for different folks... I am certainly an advocate of the environment and I think we should do as much as we can to lessen our impact on this planet. However, creating PANIC and giving up freedom and creating a WHOLE lot of other sociocultural issues that will cause people distress is just not acceptable IMO. Even the head of the Sierra Club called Al Gore an alarmist. And we ALL know that he is certainly a hypocrite. (Which is where my conflict theory ideology comes into play) And the last time I checked, the short term summed the long term, not vice versa. The initial shock and panic was built around global warming. Then a bunch of people and sources (I'll not beat a dead horse) offered contradictory evidence. So now, we're using climate change as the motivator. Again, it's not about the end result, it's about the means at which we're achieving that result. (i.e. the senseless panic and sacrifice) I think I've hijacked the thread, so I'll stop. This will be my last global warming post.
  21. Awww... It's a Volt that painted it's face as a SAD clown.... (And yes, this is accurate. Spy shots all over the web confirm it)
  22. Of course... They're media, GM is weak and Pontiac is almost dead. What more did you expect? They see an opportunity and they take it (Just like C&D did with placing the Solstice 4 out of 4 in a competition that it should've never been in) I think that is the real issue... Like the G6 (That started the media crusade against the division) the problem lies in the price. Apparently, the media thinks that you should be able to buy performance and style for $10.99. Or, they could just be utilizing Pontiac's current state (The G6 needed to succeed and they knew that, therefore it was maligned to the point of silliness) Likewise, the Solstice *could* be a viable future for Pontiac. Thus it'll be kicked until it can't move (in the market) as well.
  23. What's that I hear??!? I think it's the wheels falling off.
  24. LOL. This guy better watch his back... "Thems fightin' words" Seriously though, sources like TTAC are all about one thing: KILLING what's left of Detroit. Of course they're going to start a campaign to kill the Vette. They know the consequences that a dead Vette would carry. This is the same source that bitched about (the highly successful) Escalade for the first YEAR it was out.
  25. Oops.. LOL. [sic] then LOL
