  1. They do appeal to a certain crowd... Kind of sad actually, the 300ZX twin turbo was a fantastic sports car, Nissan has let its performance legacy rot on the vine.
  2. It's still a really nice choice. My friend Ron and his wife own one and are very happy with it.
  3. So I did replace the Jetta I sold back to VW with a CPO 2014 Beetle R line, which essentially has the MK 6 GTI power train and quite a few other up grades. My wife kind of fell in love with it as did my 16 year old and 21 year old daughter. I will post up some pics later. I think I will just keep driving my 2003 R53 Cooper S for quite a while as it is paid for and running really well. I am probably going to modify the Cooper at some point and start running autocross again. Beetle is denim blue which is not a common VW color and very unusual for an R line as most of the R lines were black, red, or white.
  4. Sorry for being philosophical but....when you are a kid you assume the world will be run by adults when you yourself become and adult. Mercedes may well sell a lot of cars, but I am not really convinced they are run by adults...this marketing decision kind of backs up that feeling IMHO.
  5. I find the whole luxury segment really depressing FWIW. Mercedes looks contemporary but so does some of the lesser IKEA furniture. BMW used to be one of my favorite car companies, they have fallen to one of my least favorite. I am nowhere near as enamored with Cadillac as Cmicassa, but they are a ray of sunshine in a really dark world...looking at Infinity products pretty much makes to want to move somewhere that cars are not allowed...absolutely god awful.... As far as a thin cracker away....I think the Lexus proves that a communion wafer can be laced with LSD quite effectively.
  6. I have heard a lot of good things about the upcoming Camry. Glad to know you don't think I am insane for preferring the Camry over the Accord. ...and it is a real shame about the V-6 being gone from the Accord for Honda. My son has an Acura TL with the V6....really a decent car, but the interior materials would make a 90's Olds Cutlass blush with embarrassment.
  7. Given BMW's fall from grace, and how static and seemingly lifeless Mercedes Benz design is, I can really see that.
  8. Interesting thought....but I love the exhaust note on the Mustang GT!
  9. Of the two I might well prefer the Camry...but we will see when the new Accord comes out.
  10. Not to sound too much like certain critics of Cadillac, but the car looks much more dynamic and fresh in person than it does in Photographs. Be interesting to see where Cadillac goes with this...I am kind of thinking we are going to see a bit of a sales slump so any money they save in product development might be spent keeping the lights on for a bit...
  11. I find such events stifling...
  12. I would give my eye teeth for a Camaro SS but I drive a ton of miles and it would eat me up in fuel costs... People are getting in the thirties with the Ecoboost Mustang driven responsibly which is just insane.
  13. 5th gen V6 manual. Car just felt really heavy and unresponsive. I probably should have driven a 6th gen V6 manual in my latest quest for a car... I think I liked the ecoboost Mustang I drove because it felt really nimble and the interior was fantastic...
  14. The whole interior is fantastic on the Mustang....and yes with a Hemi...O holy #$%^ on the Challenger. See my impressions of the Camaro were more of it being a boulevard cruiser and I didn't find it as sporty or athletic as the Challenger or Mustang.
  15. Actually i test drove one, and was very comfortable. We are roughly the same size... I would rate both the Miata and BRZ as better overall drivers cars, but overall...the Mustang comes in second right behind the GTI for the best car overall under 50K that I have ever driven. But the GTI comes in first IMHO... Even though this is a thread started about my reservations about Ford....they get some things really right.
  16. I will do this tonight when I have a chance to think about this one..
  17. I think it is a close tie between the Mustang and Callenger with Camaro a distant second. It is interesting to change up vehicles, yes...probably why I am replacing a recently departed German car with another German car...
  18. From the same dealer we turned the TDI in at....it is being washed and detailed at the moment and credit is approved and good to go. I will post details tonight after I pick it up...
  19. My MINI Cooper S will outrun a Buggati Veyron, it is worth more than a V 16 Cadillac from the Classic Era, will out tow a Ford Power Stroke diesel, and you are all less than men for not driving one... Now you have heard it from the BMW/MINI crowd as well...
  20. I agree...I really like the Camaro, but it is nowhere near the car the Mustang or Challenger are.
  21. We just drove one and i would agree. Got a test drive yesterday as a part of fathers day....carbon steel with just the options I wanted. Wife and I both fell in love....we were filling out a credit ap for the GTI when another car caught my wife's eye...should be picking it up tonight...If you are thinking GTI you are both right and wrong...and no it is not a golf R, and it damn sure is not a Civic SI.
  22. Fair enough also....I actually tend to like imports more than either Ford or GM products. Really I am not that much of a domestic car guy in terms of my hard wiring...I would probably take the right 911 or Jaguar F type over any domestic car built....this site keeps me in balance and is fairly rational.
