  1. And you guys for real need to quit this...I am laughing my butt off. Seriously, the old 30's pontiac and half the other cars are better starting points than what Knight posted. But I really do hope Knight gets his bird in due time...and I hope its a real bird... Chris
  2. You guys are being too harsh... $7 for some of that Motor majic from autozone ought to bring that 403 right back...$10 for some of that new finish car wax...$3 for one of those pine air fresh deals...a gallon of anti freeze...and she'll be ready for the show circuit. Chris
  3. Wish I'd have known, Camino. Co worker just sold a near perfect 97 Z71 for 5 grand...and it was black, too...and manual shift...and an extended cab...and had a nice aftermarket stereo with an Amp. Good luck! Chris
  4. Ouch...poor Solstice, 67 GTO, First gen Firebird...wow! That 67 GTO IIRC someone drove off of a cliff in Greece, if it's the car I'm thinking of. Posted pics of it awhile back as a joke project for Camino. The Solstice looks fixable, as does the G6 Satty posted. They could possibly be "real" cars again, Methinks the redbird is a gonner. Chris
  5. Maybe you can sell the redbird to the US Air Force...they could use it for target practive...preferably with something nuclear. Chris
  6. That Red bird would make a good parts car for in about ten years when you can afford a Trans AM and doing it right. Assuming you didn't need sheet metal, glass, mechanical parts, interior parts, trim parts, or a vin tag that hadn't rusted into oblivion. Seriously, if the Redbird was a 71 GTO I would use it as a parts car. And that ain't no 71 GTO! Chris
  7. I am an Electrician, just take me for a ride in the Caddy and I'll hook up those signs for free... Chris
  8. The number of people right now out of work or under employed is staggering. Methinks the real unemployment rate is closer to twenty percent, given what I see, Chris
  9. Won't it be nice to be minus one car payment??? Glad she's on the road! Chris
  10. I can say this, because my wife bought a Toyota (Scion) and I'm not just an idiot on the internet ranting...or maybe I am. The general cheapness of damn near every Toyota product. Not only does our scion feel cheap, the Lexus lineup does as well. Toyota has invested megabucks in advertising in our hockey arena, and they had a Lexus IS-F on display there the last game we went to. It still had the same sort of cheap under engeneered feel that our Scion has. Chris
  11. The intelligent designer of the universe, for the human Body. Why would you use the same equipment for both pleasure and waste disposal? I mean what diety/designer in their right mind would combine an amusement park with a sewage treatment plant??? Chris
  12. I checked out the Routan at a local VW dealer after reading this thread. regfootball, you are right, it does outclass the Honda and the Toyota by a pretty fair margin. However, I still would like a crossever better I think. Although a Chrysler/Routan minivan would tow a small race car or a small camping trailer with ease I think. Chris
  13. Don't underestimate going to NHL Hockey games either. Hockey really wasn't my thing until I went to a few games. Now I'm hooked, and the Penguins (Pittsburg) have a very large and loyal following. Enjoy Pittsburg if you move there! Chris
  14. The people who designed the Nissan CVT should be shot, IMHO. Even if they are dead, dig them up and shoot them just because of the principle of the thing. But seriously, the Accord is a decent, pretty much bulletproof car. They do nothing for me from a visual standpoint, but your talking about your wife buying a commuter car. It should blend in just dandy with the Escorts, Kia's, Hyundia's and Calibers at the local Wal-Mart. Which isn't a bad thing...sometimes for a daily driver it's good to blend in. Personally, while I know a lot of guys who work for Honda here in central Ohio, and know a lot of guys who race Hondas...I'd rather be bitten by a rabid dog than drive a modern Accord. Chris
  15. Methinks reg...get a GTI 4 door, gently used. About as close as your going to come in your eternal quest for the perfect small car. Either that or crap can the small car idea keep the aztek and get a weekend warrior of some sort. Go four wheeling, go autocrossing, go DO something... Or get an older but modern Mustang or Camaro Convertible with a 5 speed to tool around in. Fox body ragtops are at givaway prices, and 5K will buy you a damn fine example of either car. The Camaro/Firebird may have 100K on it, but if you drive it 5K a year you've got twenty years to enjoy it. Just my two cents, Chris
  16. Sucks that people are trash sometimes... Good luck, DF! Chris
  17. Went out with my family to eat, and not one but two C6 Z06's pulled up next to us. Kind of cool! Also saw an SRT-4 Caliber in the wild...wonder how many of these will be around in ten years. Chris
  18. ...and it's a good looking city! Chris
  19. I like DF's idea of a 300, actually. And on VW-Audi-Don't even dream about one in your worst nightmare if you want an autotrajic tranny. I am a huge fan of VW as well as GM, and I would tell you... GM builds the best automatic transmissions on the planet, bar none. VW builds the worst automatic transmissions on the planet, bar none. I would stay away from the Acura you mentioned, as it is about as ugly as a Corolla. Just my two cents. Chris
  20. ...and WOW...that house in Hazelwood...for 40K...seriously??? Here in Columbus 40K buys you a SHACK covered with graffiti. Even in Chillicothe, where I work, which is a depressed city an hour south of Columbus... that house would sell for $85,000 in a bad part of town. And about $150,000 in a decent part of town. A nearly identical house to that sold in a good neighborhood here in columbus for almost $300,000...and Pittsburg is a better looking city than Columbus! Wow. Chris
  21. Which is why I was hoping that Paulino would move to Columbus if he moved out of long island. We have a large gay male population and more good looking men than Pittsburg. Columbus is also a very gay friendly city... Chris
  22. Actually I love a lot of Pontiacs but I've never owned one. Wish I could buy a car like Balthazars Grand Prix off of the showroom floor. Now THAT was a Pontiac. Chris
  23. ...trust me...road trip Pittsburg. Methinks you'll be happy! You may want to do it sometime other than the middle of winter, however. Chris
  24. I'm thinking build a turbo V6 motor from the block up at some point in the future. Glad your keeping it... Also...really hope you get a Firebird. I've wanted one since I was a kid (my uncle bought one when I was 7, a 1972 IIRC it was a Formula). Really more of a fan of the 67-68 Convertibles than any other 'bird... And a 69 First year TA would be nice. Chris
