  1. I would agree to a point. Or even start with a car halfway in the middle or something... Will be an amzing car done...but I could never do that. I don't mess with rusty cars. Chris
  2. One of the guys in our local VW club has a son who just got an Astra. the 18" wheels, two door, everything you could get on it, the blue that is beautiful... For 13K out the door from a dealer in Cincy. don't wait to long or they will be gone. And I am one of 7 people in the USA that wants a small car. People will want small cars in the USA when gas goes to $4.50 a gallon, and it will. Cars like the Soul, Scion xB, etc. still sell as small cars. I just want GM to put GM goodness into a small car, and not give me a crapbox fleet grade Aveo or a fleet grade Cruze. The new Focus looks wonderful, and I will be possibly writing a check to Ford if the interior is anywhere near as good as the Mustangs. Chris
  3. Agreed. And let's not call the Solstice/Sky kappa twins failures. They are both great cars. In some ways I like them both better than the Z3/Z4, Miata, Boxster, S2000, et all.. Chris
  4. They will figure that out in about 2013 when it's really too late... Chris
  5. Cletus, a very decent 64 buick drop top was in the impound lot behind Loeb Electric on Huntly road here in Columbus a few months back. Was a pretty solid, running driving car with a little rust in the quarters. Think it went to the crusher intact... ...and Camino...you thought I was kidding when I sent you photo's of that GTO that went off of the cliff in Greece a few months ago. You need to get the Wagon, the Mothertruck, and the El-Camino finished so you can start on that GTO (just kidding!). Great workmanship...and the guy building it is also a VW nut. Like the Maroon bubletop he picked up as well. I have a soft spot for bubbletops of the era, but methinks I'd rather have the ragtop. Admire the guys work... Chris
  6. So. oldsmoboi...were those cars rated in horsepower or camelpower? Thanks for posting this...COOL! Chris
  7. Hey, cool, its wheels. Be on the lookout for a 5 speed, because VW's record with autotrajics is about as bad as Iran's record with human rights. Seriously. Chris
  8. I agree with Oldsmoboi...read my earlier remarks about the MINI. This is "rock star" good for a new car, seriously. Esp. one that is going to get beaten on like a red headed step child. Chris
  9. Just think...teething pains....teething pains... The open road beckons. It will work itself out. Chris
  10. So you ARE bringing that thing to Columbus for the Mopar nats...if not this year...next maybe? Jessi may not like me because I want shotgun for the Brice Road Cruise. Seriously...glad to hear it. Chris
  11. ...and sadly, longtooth...GM buys back some of these cars, which were perfectly good when they left GM...as lemons... ...and I think GM crushes all of their lemon buybacks. So some of these perfectly good Camaro SS's will go to the crusher just because the owners were idiots. Chris
  12. Your goal isn't to build, its to preserve. Nothing wrong with that...you own two cars I'd give up my oldest son for. Actually you can have my oldest son even if I don't get the car...J/K... Chris
  13. A cool idea for you...buy a Buick LT1 wagon in good shape...Load Wfie, Sofia, and Amelia in car...and go explore the lower 48. Good luck getting the B-59 back on the road... Chris
  14. UNION 76 (which brings up racing...which brings up...so much to think about...)
  15. I suck also! I ran a couple of red lights...did a couple of things I knew were stupid...got myself tested...adult onset ADD. Saturday was driving with my wife after not taking my Adderol...almost ran another red light. Get yourself tested for ADD dude. I won't drive unless I'm medicated. Chris
  16. I love the Cavi your talking about. The car looks great in the pics TED posted... Chris
  17. Was running down the highway at 85 nest to one with my top down. They look even better in motion, Cubical-Moltar. Chris
  18. Meh...methinks minor teething pains. My next car may well be a MINI Cooper S...and it took them about two years of production to get them out of EPIC-FAIL mode. You don't want a 2002 or 2003 Cooper... GM is having MUCH better luck than BMW did with the MINI. Methinks they will get it sorted out. Chris
  19. He does look good in that car, and I am jealous... How fast did he drive it... Chris
  20. Damn! Sorry about your luck DF...sometimes life just sucks...and it seems to suck for you right now. Not being sarcastic, I want to see this thing on the road as bad as anybody...but...DAMMIT MAN... Chris
  21. One of the guys I used to work with, Bob, used to work as an airframe mechanic in the reserve. He got a ride in an F-16. Amazing plane...I think for us mortals, a brief ride along without puking is probably the best we can hope for. It takes real balls to fly those things. Chris
  22. Sounds profoundly stupid perhaps but you might try HEMI mufflers. I've known a few guys to use them on street rods and Mustangs...nice, very low, quiet rumble. I'm talking about the repops of what Chryco put on the "real" Hemi cars back in the 1960's-70's. Think they are available from JEGS IIRC for not a lot of scratch, and IIRC they are stainless, so they last forever. And yes, I'm not kidding...a HEMI muffler would be a nice "heritage" touch for a MOPAR. You also might consider a low restriction CAT as well. IIRC one of the local Fox body Mustang guys lost like 4/10 in the quarter with just a free-flow cat on an older car. After 200k, yours is probably shot. Another idea...a local shop here will coat exhaust manifolds at a very reasonable cost with a high temp coating that lasts seemingly forever. All this for your car is prob. better than what one local shop does...motorcycle mufflers on Miatas. Although that sounds good in a very different way. Always nice to have other people spend your money for you, isn't it? Chris
  23. Driving on a sevice call in a really rural part of Ohio...I ran across a couple driving a white Bently convertible. Not something you see every day. Chris
  24. Methinks a mild, muted, mellow, muscular rumble from the rear would be a fine finishing touch. Sorry to post slut in your Intrepic thread...but I'm glad this thing is coming together! Looking forward to more news. Chris
  25. Glad things are turning around for you...now I just hope they turn a bit for Paulino, our other teacher as well. I really respect anyone that can teach. You and Paulino both seem to have a passion for it, which is rare. Glad to know your dad is okay... But the world is full of practical cars. You need another kappa. Chris
