  1. I agree. I'm thinking GM gave up a lot of what was good about GM by giving up Pontiac. No company ever cut there way to profitability, they produced something people wanted and then sold it. Pontiac built cars people wanted and then they got the axe...\ Chris
  2. Like the old story goes, when it comes to selling cars, people lie. Back in my Mustang years I went to look at a Boss 351, which is a low production (about 1800 made) 4 speed 1971 model year only car. Got there, and checked the Vin...car was a 1973 that originally came with a 302 and an automatic. Guy did however have two 57 Olds ragtops that were nice, one with tripower....and THAT made the trip worthwhile. But people lie about cars every day and all the time. Rust free usually means that all of the rust on the car is thrown in for free. Chris
  3. ...and back in my Mustang Fetish years I almost bought a 70 Mach one in that orange. NICE color... Chris
  4. A two ten two door hardtop (not post) is an uncommon (not rare) car to see. The Cougar would be my fav. of the list as I love Pony cars, but the 55 would be awesome to see as well. Chris
  5. I agree, the old system was built much better...and looked much better. Sometimes I really could handle it being the 50's or 60's again, automotively speaking. Chris
  6. Bobo, I was out front of my house the other day...and the most beuatiful, clean and sweet Aurora drove by, it was silver and NICE! Chris
  7. Exactly my point. Without unique product, GM is dead in the water, and loosing the Kappa twins is going to hurt them beyond the loss of Kappa sales. They need sporty and youthful product, as a lot of people buy GM cars because they want unique products. Chris
  8. Buick did a lot of thing sright during that Era. My Grandfather dated a woman who drove one of those 71-72 Buick convertibles your talking about...amazing car. I was a nine year old kid the last time I rode in it...probably why I have such a damned fetish for ragtops today. Chris
  9. ...The GTO is more refined and would fit your image better. Which is why it would be cool if we still had the old GM, where you got what you wanted. Chris
  10. Well written piece, I do think GM will come out of this stronger. Chris
  11. A beautiful one runs around here that is 3X green...NICE...same Buick road mags. Chris
  12. Local Mazda dealer had about 15 miata's in stock, some of them 2008 models that had been there awhile. Buyers Mazda is also where our Miata club meets, and they were always hinting that a really good deal could be had as the Miata was selling slowly. However, as soon as it came out that Pontiac was shutting down, there was a run on Miatas. In a few weeks time frame, they have sold all 15 or so Miata's on the lot, as well as most of the Miata's that showed up on an all Miata Semi-truck shipment Monday. Probably just coincidence...but it seems odd that a dealership would see very few Miatas for months and then sell a ton. The weather is part of it....but spring showed up a long time ago. Seem strange to anyone else? Sadly, customer traffic looked really dead at the Pontiac/GMC dealership next door... Chris
  13. That generation Skylark convertible is one of the best looking cars GM ever made IMHO. Chris
  14. (off topic) Wow, Suzuki down 75 percent...OUCH!\ (back on topic) Buick does need to get its mojo back. Chris
  15. Actually this is one of the best posts you've ever made, and that is saying something. I wonder why everyone here is so threatened by "change" when change and a dynamic marketplace is what drives us to waste time on the interweb BS'ing about cars with each other. I have noticed the SAME thing in the younger crowd, although Chev. will have to come up with a replacement for the Cobalt SS. Chris
  16. ...a lot of people here do. I've got news for ya. other than it's minivan, Hyundai is about to hand Toyota their ass, and Nissan is on the move. Mazda has a great car in the 5 and the 3, and Honda isn't sitting still either. People who buy these cars are not all ignorant retards. Chris
  17. ...actually...never. Chris
  18. ...and with the Camaro being so awesome has your fox body Mustang got a stablemate yet, Mr. Moltar...er...Rob...I mean Cubical? Chris
  19. A blue 69 Camaro just like that ran around when I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin. To be back in the day... And Sordfish...saw a 63 Split yesterday, if I get a chance I'll post photographs. Chris
  20. Holeshot ...as in I got the holeshot off the line in my Camaro, and beat the Dodge. Chris
  21. Biggest thing GM can do right now IMHO is keep the brain power employed so we do design work here when the economy picks back up. That knowledge base will be difficult to recover if we loose it. Chris
  22. Nor in one sense should it. I enjoy the diversity in the modern auto market...Audi...BMW....VW...Mazda...GM...The Challenger and Mustang...the new Ford vehicles in their fresh lineup... Chris
  23. Given the mindless cars we have today, I'd kill to get some of that styling based planned obsolesence back... Chris
