  1. Agreed, DF. I almost wonder if Chryco will come out of this better than GM. Chris
  2. 70 Super Bee is a beautiful car...used to have a 69 Green Super Bee locally that was just the cat's ass...unmolested and original and nice. My daughters church has a car show every year in July, and a 440 Six Pack Superbee showed up two years ago (the one with the lift off hood.) Chris
  3. Camino-Deleted my post because I thought I had offended you, glad I haven't... Just sad to see these old cars go...back to happier times. Balthazar-There were about thirty Pontiacs from the 1960's vintage between my home and the corner market we used to go to when I was a kid. Only notable car was a maroon 1966 GTO convetible...first time I ever saw a tri power...was about like seeing the girl next door nekkid for the first time...I just KNEW I liked what I saw. Maybe that's why I have five kids...perhaps if I'd have gotten a Pontiac earlier, I wouldn't have such a large family, eh? Seriously...this thread has done me a lot of good. I had about given up on owning another old American Car. But then the other night, after I didn't get the B-17 ride my wife wife and I were talking. She said "make a bucket list" (Things to do before you die, after the movie by that name) She put riding in a B-17 on my list, and asked me what kind of cars I wanted to own. I've decided that it comes down to... I want to own a 53-56 Ford Truck or a 49-55, or 61-66 Chevy truck, as a mild street rod or cruiser. If the guy building that Impala can fix THAT...I can pull it together enough to save an old truck. And if I get a car, I am going to utterly shoot for the moon and get my fav. GM car ever, a 58-62 Corvette. Hey, If he can dream and have a 61 Impala, I can dream and have a 61 Corvette, right? Thanks again Camino for posting this thread...and please don't ban me if the truck I wind up with in a few years is a 55 F100! Something about an old truck.... Chris
  4. 1960 Chrysler letter car...white...hardtop...really nice... 1970 Chevrolet truck, damn near perfect, original, with a camper shell... Chris
  5. ...yes...it does...and I am sorry if I offended you. Just wanting to make the point that we didn't know what we had when we had it... Chris
  6. ...oh, and Cletus...if you want to use your paintball skills with real ammo...I can take you to the impound lot where that Buick got crushed... Chris
  7. Honda Clarity See, If Icould have posted after Monaco I could have said "F1" or Grand Prix...but no... I have to talk about a green car... Chris
  8. Ned's Floating Lounge
  9. It is a step in the right direction...but were I to be buying a RWD car for 30K I can think of others (370Z, Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, et al) that are still much better. Well done review, though. Chris
  10. Thanks, DF, I'll check out the website for NEAM. We have a nice airshow coming to Cleveland on Labor Day weekend, may go up for that. Chris
  11. And even then, I'd like to see them close Germain Toyota and Hatfield Toyota/Toyota West here in Columbus. We have about eleventy billion times too many new car dealers. Chris
  12. Ughhh...you haven't had a "real" philly cheese steak sandwich then. Enough good cheese to give even Lance Armstrong hardened arteries... Chris
  13. Thank Goddess that thing runs great! Let me know if you need anything specific for her, local pick and pull I've been telling you about just got a bunch of new cars, quite a few of them MOPAR. Chris
  14. Interesting...when the three of four engenes on the B-17 ran today, they sounded almost a little bit like a 440 a buddy used to have in a GTX when I was in high school. No wonder you like the 17 so much, DF... Seriously though...come to the Air Force Museum at Dayton some time. You'd love it! I'd love to go to the one you went to. And on my "bucket list" of things to do before I die is to go to Oshkosh one year for the air show. Have you ever been to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museeum, DF, or the Annex? Chris
  15. Quizno's is excellent as well. I miss back in the way back when my wife and I were dating and she was living in Philly. Talk about SUBS... People in Philly and Atlanta know how to eat. Chris
  16. Interesting...I never knew that they tried a 5th engene on the B-17. Chris
  17. So...this was a big Saturday for me. I had a choice of 1. SCCA autocross 2. Dublin/Arthritis auto show, where the Miata club was showing our cars 3. Goodguys in Columbus...6000+ pre 73 American cars. But I decided to do something else. The Liberty Belle, a restored, flying B-17 was going to be at Bolton field here in Grove City (Columbus suburb where I live). I contacted the good folks with the Liberty Belle foundation and for a mere $430 they had a few seats left. Life was good. Went out to the airport at 9:30 this ayem and went through the plane with my two younger daughters, Christina and Joanna. Amazing plane, and very original with radio's, etc. First group got set for their ride and....one of the big radial motors on the plane decided it didn't want to run. Flying display turns into a "static" display, and I'm not going to be able to fly. At least I'm $430 closer to paying off the Miata and getting a Solstice or a MINI Cooper S. Or I'm telling myself that anyways. So right now it's raining like crazy, don't think much is going on at either car show. Glad I'm not trying to race in the rain. Instead of Flying in a B-17, racing my car, or going to a couple of big car shows...I'm going to get off of the computer and help my wife fold laundry. Once I get that done, the bathroom sink get's fixed, and I may paint one of the kids rooms. Lovely way to ruin a Saturday. Chris
  18. This is just human stupidity at it's worst. Why should Chryco or GM be forced to sell their product through any dealer they don't want to? Subway sets standards for its franchises...if we let Subway make its own mind up about a sandwich...shouldn't GM and Chryco be able to make their own minds up about who they let sell their cars? Chris
  19. Thinking back on this, a big part of what he is spending $ on is also stuff he would upgrade on his theoretical 20k driver... Chris
  20. Thanks !!!TED!!! keep them coming. I'm with 'blu, these are fabulous. Chris
  21. Decent fuel economy numbers... Chris
  22. American Clusterf@#k
  23. But your right, Camino...I LOVE that wagon. Chris
