  1. +1. Make Buick a car people want to buy. They need a sports car, (Bengal, which will now never happen) A fullsize RWD, intermediate FWD, A convertible, etc. However, all of this takes money, nothing happens without money, and time. GM doesn't have the billions it needs to retool Buick, and it doesn't have the 5 years bringing the new cars to market will bring. Chris
  2. All the advertising in the world won't work until GM builds relevant exciting cars. Chris
  3. You all can scream at me but my nightmare is... Make Buick relevant and exciting. I like Buick and they have built some great cars over the years, but making Buick relevant, given GM's corporate culture, now that's a nightmare. Chris
  4. I think there are a couple of Boat tail riv's back in there, if I get a chance I'll take the camera out this week and see if I can get a pic or two... Chris
  5. The Chargers low roofline in the rear just kills it. i have a few friends who work in car sales, and one of them took an SRT8 Charger in trade on a Shelby Mustang. He had me come out and look at the SRT8 Charger (never mind I could never afford it!). I was in love until I sat in the back seat....ughhh...low roofline... BTW, the SRT8 was also silver and looked just fabulous! Another car you almost never see in silver that looks good in silver is the 66-67 Charger. That roofline looks so good in silver, just kind of flowing. Chris
  6. Indeed. Hot Rod (or was it Car Craft?) built one up out of a nice looking stocker into a race car. I saw that exact car headed out to Muncie Dragway when I was a kid living in Indiana. If I can find them, I have pics of an old 60's Nova like that with a straight axle front end that my daughter and I found sitting outside of someones house in southern Ohio. I'll see if I can dig them up when my daughter comes back from summer camp in August. I also remember the bodystyle right before that as a drag car. I've seen a few of them, and I remember building a model of one when I was a kid. We also used to have a really sweet cranberry metallic 63 Nova Convertible running around the local car shows here. And I also remember a few people building the 66-67 cars into "Phantom" convertibles. Chris
  7. I could be wrong, but they do sell "paint pens" at hobby shops IIRC. Using that and then a coat of high temp clear might save you a lot of time masking. Just a thought. Chris
  8. Thanks for the link, GMCTruckGuy74... Chris
  9. It's not a sig, and I am not getting rid of mine. I am a computer idiot, and I was testing my ability to upload from Photobucket on a friends computer. The shiny black Charger isn't going anywhere! Chris
  10. First one indeed is a 68! Chris
  11. Actually, it's not just SSR's that got painted purple. My friend Chuck Groome got one almost new that was purple from the factory...NICE looking intrepid. What I loved about my Concorde was that it was such a "wife friendly" car. The LH cars will handle, and my wife just loved driving ours. And DF, I'm glad someone else noticed that about black. Our receptionist at work drives a black Z71 extended cab, and she had it repainted so that it would be a true black. BIG difference. Worst color seems to be from Toyota, seriously, I've seen it on some Scions and some Tundra's, it's a black that's metallic-really just a really dark grey and it looks like dog crap. The nice thing about the proportions with the car is the interior layout...you, Camino and Rob can look at the outside all you want. I enjoyed the long car trip+plenty of rear seat room+comfort for the wife=no arguements and an enjoyable trip. Chris
  12. You have made your point sir...however...you do have to admit the LH looks good in silver, yes? Chris
  13. Totally crude, but I've got a long term friend who went to a different high school than I did. One of the popular people at my friend's high school wanted to know what sex with an animal was like, so (popular kid) tried to have oral sex with a cow...with the cow playing "catcher." Guy was de-nutted and de-shafted in short order, and there wasn't anything the doctors could do. And I am NOT making this up. Anything involving animals and Human private parts is a bad idea, methinks... Oh, and my friend went to high school in Alabama if that means anything. Chris
  14. Okay, she's a worthless ####. Done deal. I think were speaking with our emotions as animal lovers rather than our rational minds when we call for her death. That being said...I love my cats! And my 13 year old daughter Joanna works at a shelter for abused animals. Amazing how many people in this world treat cats and dogs like crap. Chris
  15. It is indeed, and that is another great collectible GM car that is sometimes overlooked. For the longest time around here we had a blue on blue L79 (correct code? Not sure- the high Horse 327) 4 speed car that was all original, as well as a yellow 327 Powerglide car that was so clean and original it just hurt to look at it. Haven't seen either car at shows in a couple of years, wonder what happened to both. Chris
  16. Speaking of which...and you don't want to hear this but... I think the blue color you've picked is great, but you might also want to consider silver. Today, the EAA had a young eagles event at Bolten Field (our local airport). Three youngest kids went up. We parked next to a really nice family in an Intrepid that was silver and it was beautiful. It was slightly overcast and the car just looked sooo goooood in that light. And I thought of you and your loyalty to the intrepid when I met the Pilot taking my kids up. Guy named Dick Weatherall, really nice guy, with the same Cessna 172 for 22 years, man and plane had travelled all over North America together. Methinks loyalty to a machine is a beuatiful thing.
  17. Okay, I'm a post whore but I'm also a car nut. Went to a car show with my son Joel last night. Pro touring 69 Camaro, Cortez silver, car just had the look. 58 Chevy Apache rat rod, also had the look. 70 Cougar XR7 Convertible, red, black top, white interior, pro touring, best car in the show. I just love these little kitties. This one had kind of an Eliminator vibe, even though they never built an Eliminator convertible. 65 Falcoln wagon, Primerd, lowered, polished Americans. Another cool car...an unmolested, never touched 67 Chevy II drag car that looked like it was right out of 1974. 4 door, all original paint, bias ply's...this thing would drive balthazar crazy and it's a Chevy. It was just that original, untouched, and cool. Silver 37 Chevy Street rod that was running a very healthy big block. Chris
  18. Bertone coupe is cool, thanks for the link. Doubt that's collectable, Oldsmoboi. The little P1800 wagons are awesome though. Chris
  19. Thanks for the link, Y-J. Anyone with any more info on the GMC trucks of this era? Chris
  20. Your welcome...I have a few more of the 59's I'll post, and a few more Pontiac pics from the yard I'll post later. Chris
  21. Should be a well detailed machine when it's done! Chris
  22. There was also a one of one purple Corvette that was given away as an award to a GM employee. McDorman had THAT car also. Chris
  23. A well known local collector, Bob McDorman, has the 8th SSR built, and it is purple. He's also the guy that has that sweet 59 El Camino I was telling you about...and he also recently put up for auction the very first 1960 (IIRC) Corvette ever built, serial number one... Chris
  24. Think Prowler was with Plymouth till the end, I could be wrong. Think it became Chrysler when they wanted to continue building the car after Plymouth died. However, I am going to steal a page from balthazars playbook. I'm going to thiunk of Plymouth in terms of RWD Fury's Superbirds and Roadrunners. I'm going to gracefully forget the crappy FWD minivans, the K cars, and the rest of the crap. There is some sanity in living pre-1975 when it comes to domestic cars. Chris
  25. Does anyone here have any info on Pontiac V8's in GMC trucks in the 50's? I know they did it...just don't know the when and where. Any info? Chris
