  1. Cool thing about the 73 is that of the GTO's it is probably the best "road car" for a trip and probably the best riding GTO built. Very under rated, and very sad more were not saved. Chris
  2. Probably more as a hobby car than a daily driver. I like the HHR SS and the Cobalt SS. we'll see what's out next year when I buy my next car. If they only have a bland version of the Cruze and I can have a new Euro Focus (SVT version perhaps?) a MINI, a GTI, a TDI, something from Alfa, etc....then perhaps no. Waiting to see what's available next year. Chris
  3. The Toyo car got cancelled, btw. Chris
  4. The blue color is the best color for that car...good to hear yours is getting some love. I've passed a lot of them on the road...it is just sooo stupid that GM is getting rid of this thing... Chris
  5. I hear you. I just came back from the pool, took my 13 year old daughter, my 11 year old son, my 8 year old daughter, and Sienna, their 12 year old friend. Pooltime can be addicting. Chris
  6. You would have loved that GTO. 74 was a very low production year...that was the year it was built on a (Ventura?) bodystyle and looked like a Nova. The Solstice GXP coupe makes the 370Z look like a Kia minivan by comparo. Chris
  7. Say...balthazar...I have a 60's Pontiac question that I have never been able to get a legit answer on from anyone. Maybe you can help or you can point me in the right direction. I heard that Pontiac built a few 1969 Trans Am models as Canadian cars with the Chevy 302 from the Z-28 so that the Trans Am could race in the SCCA Trans Am series. I know 'Bird's raced in the series back in the day, and I believe they ran 302's that were identical to the 'maro 302's. I think also in 1970 they ran the LT-1 motors just like the Camaro's as the SCCA raised the C.I.D. limit to 355 or something. But after reading about and hearing about 302 powered 69 firebirds/Trans Ams, I have never seen one or read about one that survives. According to one seemingly knowledgeable Pontiac collector I talked to a couple dozen street going versions of the 302 TA were actually sold to the public in Canada. Any ideas? Is this whole thing just an urban legend? Chris
  8. I certainly hope so...I'll be in the market for a new car next year and both of those SS models are on my shopping list. Chris
  9. I seem to recall Toyota getting excited about Winning the Baja endurance race... Chris
  10. ...that's my kind of way to get fat. Chris
  11. The Soul is indeed better looking than the Corolla. To me though, from the front the Soul looks like a retarded bat that flew into a window because it's echo-location was broken. Chris
  12. A few interesting cars. First of all the (Z06 black on black) that showed up at the autocross Sunday. After seeing that thing run hard and riding in it while it was being driven in anger...all I can say is that Nissan can shove the GTR up their corporate ass where the sun doesn't shine. That thing is just ungody. Sunday evening I saw a pristine 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk, red and white , being towed on a trailer through Columbus. Today, also on a trailer down in Chillicothe I saw a Red 74 GTO, built like a mild bracket racing quarter mile car from what I could tell, very clean, NICE! And then today I had to fix some rooftop A/C units...came down to my work van in the parking lot...and parked right in front of me was a really nice dark blue 66 GTO with a dark blue interior...and it was a 4 speed. Not perfect but very, very nice. Black Solstice GXP coupe, 6 speed. ...and a nice clean old 67 Chevrolet truck parked for sale in front of a farm when I was cruising around with the top down on my way home from work. Looked like it had been well cared for. Chris
  13. Actually without meaning to sound like a total ass kisser...which I am pretty good at anyways...or maybe I just use crap flavored toothpaste... Thank you, DF and Oldsmoboi for the time you spend on this site. I LOVE IT HERE! I plan on getting a premium subsciption as soon as work picks up...but right now these last few weeks I've only been getting about 25 hours a week at work. I'm doing oaky, but cutting out lunches and ayem coffee right now. Things are starting to pick up bigtime at work though... Seriously, thanks guys. Chris
  14. The Cooper can do a lot of things, actually....
  15. What is sad is that even after winning GT1 at LeMans, GM is cutting support of the C6R factory team, IIRC. Chris
  16. Good, because I have a thing for both the 73-77 and the newer 78-87 El Camino's as well. Had a friend who had an 86 or so El-Camino in black that was a nice truck. But for me, the 64 and 65 bodystyle is the best looking. I like the clean, simple dashboard of that bodystyle, and it's got a cleaner profile from the side IMHO. I would love to find a clean example as a weekend driver someday. Also sharp are the 61-66 Series of fullsize Chevrolet trucks. Chris
  17. I'd settle for just a diesel 'Benz. Chris
  18. (Way off topic but...) I can appreciate that, DF. My Concorde really liked curvy roads...a lot of the roads I now enjoy with my Miata are roads I found with the Concorde. And after seeing the CC at the local VW dealer, I can see what you see in both the CC and Concorde/Intrepid/LH cars. Besides, your young and horny and have other things to be doing with your hands than shifting. Chris
  19. Actually 'blu it sounds like my kind of zoo... Chris
  20. Do you have any pics of the 67 Catalina 2+2 428? Think I've seen earlier 2+2 Pontiacs but not sure I've ever seen a 67? Also, there is a website called the ultimate GTO pic site, is there a pic. site for the fullsize stuff? ...and pardon me for saying this, but I just love the nickname "batwing" for the 61 Cat. Chris
  21. I've thought of that too...but the cheap car to own IMHO in that range is an old Caprice cop car. Saw a very clean dark grey ex cop car that must have been ex-FBI or something on the way home the other day. Looked sweet. But...no thanks on anything automatic...which DF is also why I am not going to get another Concorde or an Intrepid. I just can't handle life without a car with that third pedal. I really, really wish Chryco had made a car like the first gen neon with an upgraded interior and a little bit more of a refined feel. Chryco nailed the handling on the first gen Neon. Also really cool are the older Daytonas and Shelby Chargers. Chris
  22. Trouble is first gen is cheaper and has more speed parts available for it. Second Gen ACR's are VERY hard to find...they only built a few of them before switching production to SRT-4 production. Chris
  23. I like the 64-65 the best, followed by the '59. Also love the 70, and the 71-72. But to me 65 is the best. (Ducks before getting hit with a wrench) Chris
