  1. I dont know how well they would sell, but since GM is considering producing a new minivan why not do a retro van? base it off the the 70's and 80's vans. but make it smaller. Retro has worked for other cars and crossovers.. Camaro, Mustang, HHR, Pt Cruiser, etc. wouldnt hurt to show a "concept" version at an auto show or two. I just dont know how you would fit a FWD drivetrain under the hood though. maybe make it RWD and base it on a modified Alpha.
  2. I love the retro Full size vans from the 70's and 80's. I always did like those model vans even though I never did own one. My dad used to build them in the 70's when they were built in Lordstown.
  3. I just test drove a 2011 Cruze LS sedan today with the 1.8L ecotech, 6 speed auto. I was impressed with it for the most part. rode nice but it wasnt all that fast. but still decent. I guess because my other cars are a 06 pontiac G6 GT and a 10 Camaro LS. I am thinking of leasing one. Im giving the Pontiac to my girlfriend.. just cant decide which color I want. The lease price isnt bad at all. $179.00 a month for 39 months with 1,200 down. almost bought the one I drove but I wasnt too crazy about the light blue the only one they currently have in stock.
  4. I went to the Chevy website and priced the Cruze I would want and it came out to $20,955 sticker. It is a 2011 Cruze 1LT, Imperial Blue metallic, 16 inch wheels, connectivity package, RS package, Pioneer audio system, 1.4L ecotec and 6 speed automatic. I guess its not all that bad really, A 2010 Cobalt with simular equipment would have been around 19,500. now do I spend another 2 grand and get a Malibu? I am going to have to look at both and drive them back to back. I think there is a rebate on the Malibu which might put them very close in price. Might even take a look at a Equinox but I think I am going to stick with a sedan. this new car will be replacing a 2006 pontiac G6 GT which is going to my girlfriend. right now we have 4 vehicles, a 2010 Camaro LS, 2006 Pontiac G6 GT, 2000 Venture minivan and a 2003 Cavalier. thinking about selling the last two and replacing them with the new one, I really dont need three cars for myself. so ill keep the camaro and the new one, and my g/f will take the pontiac.
  5. well atleast you can get an Aveo cheap still. probably pick one of those up for around 11 or 12 grand. I kicked around the idea of buying one to replace the 03 cavalier, but I dont really care for them. you can get a really nice 08-09 cobalt for 9 grand. which is probably what ill end up getting when i replace it.
  6. yeah I bought a few of them. I currently have a 2003 Cavalier just to drive to work/extra car. just hit 117,000 miles today. it still never lets me down. people rag on the Cavaliers, but tell you what I owned FIVE of them. 96 coupe, 97 convertible, 98 coupe, 04 coupe, and the 03 sedan that I currently own. I never had any problems with any of them. I am going to give my 2006 Pontiac G6 to my girlfriend and I am going to buy a new car in January. I like the Cruze but seems like I can get a Malibu or even a Regal for not much more money. Last time I was getting an oil change I looked at a new Regal. it was $26,000 and it was fully loaded with leather and everything. Id be happy to pay 2 Grand more for a Regal.
  7. If I Get a cruze im going to get a red LT with the RS package. I think that combo looks the best.
  8. The only way id consider a Cruze if I was buying the base LS model with no options. you can get a LOADED Malibu or a Regal for about a grand or two more. Plus if the Malibu has a rebate which it more than likely does they would be the same price.. I looked at a loaded 2011 Regal about a month ago and it stickered around $26,000. and it had a sunroof if I can remember right. They made it nicer than the Cobalt but then raised the price about $2,500 across the board. and they dropped the two door model on top of it. so now the cheapest GM two door car is a $24,000 Camaro, Another major mistake. about everyone else offers a compact 2 door. They did they same thing when they got rid of the S10 and replaced it with the Colorado. Raised the price about $3,000 and look how many they sold last month.. I think they barely broke 1,000 units. they used to have two plants making the S10 and the Colorado can barely keep one plant running.
  9. The Impala is sold alot to fleets and its used as a police car so those sales are included. I think why the current Malibu doesnt sell more is because they only have one plant building them, the same plant also builds the Lacrosse. the next generation Malibu will be built at two plants though, at Fairfax and Detroit Hamtramck when the DTS/Lucerne goes out of production. I think if they had more capacity to build more malibu's they would sell more.
  10. this car NEEDS to be a home run. I like the interior even though I think its a little busy.
  11. that would probably be the XTS sedan's job. looks like there will be four Cadillac Sedans. the ATS, CTS, XTS and this top of the line model probably called a ZTS. But I do agree there is room for a model inbetween the XTS and ZTS. They could always do a long wheelbase and short wheelbase ZTS I guess.
  12. What about bringing back the Chevelle nameplate for this new RWD Chevy Sedan?? I can see them eiether calling it a Chevelle or a Caprice. And any idea of where they would build these models?
  13. I like it. GM is working on a two/three door Cruze currently. Look for it at the Detroit auto show in January. It will go on sale in about a year from now. If it looks like this car I might be tempted to buy one.
  14. well Cadillac rebadges a Chevy Tahoe and sells it as an Escalade. a very simular Tahoe would be about $51,000 and they Escalade starts at $63,000.. so you pay $12,000 for diffrent badges, steering wheel, grille, headlights and taillights. sounds like a DEAL to me. So I dont see why they cant rebadge a Buick Lacrosse and sell it as a XTS and charge $12,000 more than the Lacrosse that would have about the same equipment and the same engine.
  15. they need to come up with a new DOHC V8 somehow. If they are going to build this ultra luxury Cadillac I think it would need something other than the 3.6L V6. if you come up with a new DOHC V8 you would use it in alot of applications to justify it. Ultra Lux Cadillac, Tahoe,Escalade, Yukon, Camaro, Corvette, a RWD Chevy Sedan, A rwd Buick sedan. next gen full size pickups. as well as use it for Austrailian Holden models. I think that would be enough volume to justify developing it.
  16. I have heard GM is working on a new 2.5L 4 cyl. hopefully this engine will find its way to the Cruze. If I were to get a Cruze id get the base LS model. If you get the LTZ I think maybe you could get a Regal or Malibu for the same price. I dont think the Cruze is really replacing the Cobalt. the new Aveo is. the new aveo will be about the size of the Cobalt and about the same price as the Cobalt was. the Spark is replacing the Aveo. The new Aveo should start around $13,000.
  17. what about making a Buick version of the Camaro but with a diffrent body? then we can talk about a new Grand National.
  18. for $26,000 I can get a new loaded Regal. which seems to me like a larger and more upscale car.
  19. I had alot of those models.. 88 Corsica. 96,97,98,04 and current 03 Cavalier. and 89 Cutlass Calais. And im still buy GM products.. I guess if all those didnt scare me away NOTHING WILL!!
  20. I hope this car does well. It is built near my hometown in Ohio. I have several friends and family that work at that plant. I worked at that plant myself in 2002 and 2003. My father also worked there for 33 years. I still have an uncle that works there. I plan to check one out when they come in at the dealer here.
  21. I can see them dropping the 2.0L turbo in the Cruze, and yes I have heard they are working on a two door Cruze, might even see it at the Detroit auto show in January. I would like an Aveo to have about 170hp. for the Aveo you could always use the 2.4L ecotec maybe. I like that new Aveo, especially the Sedan version. I wish it was out now because im ready to replace my 03 Cavalier, I might end up finding a left over Cobalt or buying the current Aveo. the current Aveo would be a better car than the Cavalier, haha. atleast it wouldnt shake like a leaf in a windstorm at highway speeds... here is the high performance products id like to see and the engines that should be used.. Cruze.. 2.0L turbo ecotec Aveo.. 2.4L DOHC ecotec Regal.. 2.0L turbo ecotec Malibu. 3.6L dohc turbo/supercharged Equinox 3.6L dohc V6
  22. exactly what I based it on...
  23. I know I screwed up the crossbar a little, not totally straight.
  24. here is my chop of a 2012 Impala.. [/img]
  25. Malibu sedan, which is going to shrink a bit- Might it be too many cars in one department? the reason for the Malibu shrinking a little bit is because the next Impala is going to use the long wheelbase Epsilion. The next Impala will be simular in size to the current Buick Lacrosse.
