  1. they keep saying Pontiac is on the chopping block. but this is far from the truth. Pontiac actually makes money, so to axe them would be the stupidest thing GM EVER did. the G6 is one of GM's top selling cars. I think its right after the impala, malibu and cobalt. they need to make pontiac, gmc and buick all one division. pontiac would get the sporty small and mid size cars, gmc would get the trucks, suv's and vans, and buick would get luxury cars and crossovers.
  2. they probably would have kept the Cobalt name, but they are planning on building both cars for the 2011 model year. the cobalt sedan will die after 2011, but the coupe will live through the 2013 model year. so they really couldnt keep the Cobalt name. id be all for bringing back the Nova badge. although it might have been damaged when the name was used on a rebadged Toyota in the 80's. id like to see a four door version of the camaro called a Chevelle. it would be sort of like the Dodge charger.
  3. they would have never got rid of the Taurus name if the name would have been FAURUS. they had a craze and wanted all thier cars to start with the letter F.. I was waiting for them to rename the Mustang the Fustang.
  4. I might be buying a 2009 Malibu, if they decide to total my G6 that was in an accident yesterday. I am so hoping that it gets totaled.
  5. If they sold cars like that here they would be in MUCH better shape than they are now.
  6. id build it. last time I checked there is a FWD Lexus, a FWD Acura, and a FWD Infiniti. So these are the cars that this fwd Cadillac would be competing with. plus to switch the entire lineup to RWD isnt smart eiether, you will end up alienating alot of customers who live in the midwest and northeast that prefer FWD cars due to incliment weather.
  7. if a dealer wanted a "premium" over sticker. I would ask them.. Okay when I bring this car back in three years I want you to give me the amount of the premium over what the car is worth since you are gouging me now.
  8. the Current Cobalt coupe will be assembled through the 2013 model year. the sedan will be assembled through 2011. GM will sell both the Cobalt and Cruize sedans for the 2011 model year.
  9. not as of yet. the current Cobalt coupe will live on until the 2013 model year.
  10. I dont understand why dont they ship some over from Korea and get it out 6 months before they start assembling them in Lordstown..
  11. Could the Orlando be assembled in Lordstown? or in Ramos Arizipe Mexico?
  12. I kind of like this new Cobalt. remember this car will be sold around the world and will be assembled in atleast 3 assembly plants. Ramos Mexico, Lordstown Ohio and south Korea. this car will be out sooner than you think. Lordstown doesnt start production on it until the 2nd quarter of 2010 because they will still be assembing the current Cobalt. but Ramos Arizpe Mexico will start building this car in the 4th quarter of 2009. the plan is for to sell both cars at the same time until production ramps up.
  13. I worked for a supplier at Lordstown back in 02 and 03. and I seen a Cobalt sedan body in July 03. didnt have a camera on my phone then though.
  14. all those workers wont be losing thier jobs.. they are adding another shift at both Orion Michigan and Lordstown Ohio so some of those workers will be able to transfer to one of those two plants. so they can boost production of the Cobalt and Malibu two fuel efficient cars. another thing id do is AXE all V8 engines in passenger cars EXCEPT for the top Camaro, Corvette, XLR, and the STS. EVERYTHING else should have a 4 cyl or a V6. when we can get 300 hp out of the 3.6L DOHC V6 it makes V8's in other cars than the ones i mentioned useless. they need to develop a small DOHC V6 of around 2.7-3.0L to be used in midsize cars/small suv's. the Suburban should be axed, the Tahoe should be the largest SUV. consider putting the inline 6 cyl from the Trailblazer in the Tahoe as the base engine. with 270 hp it would be more than enough to power it. the fact that the Aveo only gets 34 mpg is garbage. a car this size should be getting close to 40 mpg. we need to make a lighter 3 door Aveo and put in a 3 cyl, the metro didnt sell all that well but when they quit making them gas was $1.50 a gallon. if they would make a car now with close to 45 mpg the thing would sell.
  15. there isnt going to be an Alpha Pontiac.. Cadillac, Chevrolet and Buick are the ones getting the alpha
  16. I think where GM messed up Oldsmobile is when they axed the eighty eight. they then lost all those buyers to Buick, Toyota Avalon, and Mercury. axing the Cutlass was also a bad choice. the Aurora probably would have been built until probably 2005-2006. if Olds was still alive today id say they would have had the following models. Epsilion sedan and coupe, the Aurora probably would have went to the RWD sigma platform, they would have probably recieved the outlook instead of Saturn. and we also might have seen a theta CUV based on the equinox, there wouldnt have been a Pontiac Torrent. the Bravada would still be in production and there would have never been a Buick Ranier.
  17. Buick will get a version of this car also.... also coming to Lordstown...
  18. will be rolling down an assembly line in Lordstown Ohio in 2011....
  19. the Lacrosse name is going to die after the 09 model year. the 2010/11 model year replacement will be called Invicta.
  20. so will this cost less than the convertible?
  21. if they build this and it gets close to 42ish MPG then I think it would sell. does anyone know what engine this would have? this looks ALOT better than the smart car. even if you would put say a 1.4L 4 cylinder in it it would be more than enough to power this. do all that and price it around 10K.
  22. yeah, but how does that smart car pass all the safety tests. when it is smaller than a Metro was? we could probably do another Metro but we would have to use light weight materials to make up for the added weight of safety/complicated equipment. which would make it too expensive even if it was assembled in mexico or south korea. but why couldnt we do a "hybrid" Aveo?? if GM could just make a small car and even get it to 45 mpg.
  23. I know. I had a LIGHT BLUE Metro once for a rental car when I went on spring break in Miami beach.
