  1. I'm pretty sure they love their cars as they are. They don't want to take home a choked off wheezer that gets worse fuel mileage and has less power. That's a no-brainer. The cars are not "faulty" as you call them. They are just fine.
  2. The lawyers will be the only ppl gaining anything from this. VW owners will get a worse performing car back if they subject their beloved TDi to the proposed changes. I predict they'll have a hard time getting satisfied customers to allow their cars to be ruined.
  3. Aluminum is more appropriate for a rarified vehicle like a Rolls-Royce than it is for a bread-and-butter vehicle like a Ford F-150.
  4. Fiesta ST is a good choice, and although I liked my Fiesta SE, I would not own another one. Too weak.
  5. Imagine that. Coming in and putting up multiple negative comments in a Volkswagen thread, when they were no doubt off radar before this situation. Should this be allowed? Free speech, I mean?
  6. Ugh, a Prius? Why do these exist? They are the ultimate "anti-car"... no fun, no style (and about to get worse), no sex appeal... just a complete waste of steel, plastic and rubber.
  7. Whoa, look at those giant, gas hog Volkswagens. Ban them!
  8. Nice one, Moltie.
  9. OMG how could I forget the Mitsubishi Mirage, Datsun Versa and Toyota Yaris???
  10. Red with white top '72 Malibu convertible. Sweet.
  11. Agreed on all points. Only one thing that would make sense: if yer house is totally solar powered, off-grid, and you have a short ass commute, with no plans to ever take a decent road trip.
  12. Minicars have stepped up their game in recent years. If you were looking at this class for your next new vehicle, which one would you choose? Fiat 500? Scion iQ? (done after the '15 model year) Chevy Spark? Ford Fiesta? Honda Fit? Smart FourTwo? Any others you can think of in this class? I think I would have to go with the 2016 Chevy Spark 2LT, with manual transmission, in Titanium or Kalamata. The new Spark has grown up big time, with a more mature look inside and out, and some unexpected features for this class. I expect some will say "buy something bigger that is a few years old", or "I'd rather walk than drive any minicar", but just for the sake of conjecture, which tiny terror would you drive?
  13. The Chevrolet Bolt will be the only piddly electric car fit to drive OFF the golf course.
  14. I liked all of my VWs, even when they were troublesome, the driving experience blinded me, and I didn't mind being blinded. I've only owned one TDi so far though, and it was the best VW I've owned yet. I got rid of it on flimsy excuses. Anyone who has been here for a while knows I go through vehicles quickly. I always want my new toy. I do love my truck though, and I see I am not alone... the new GM midsize trucks are the most-loved pickup trucks out there, per a new survey. The business side of VW and every other huge corporation can be ugly, and it is a shame for all of the engineers' hard work to bring an appealing vehicle to market, and then be torn down by something as hideous as this. The diesel engine does not deserve to be tainted by this situation. The "fixes" sound like they will choke the life out of a great performing, very efficient powerplant. I would rather have the TDi run free and return fantastic fuel efficiency with plenty of fun, than be saddled with these BS "fixes" that are anything but.
  15. I would like to see more diesel cars on the market. Their blend of fuel efficiency, coupled with torque-happy fun, cannot be beat. Long live the diesel engine.
  16. Yes but... GM had a half ton, fullsize diesel pickup truck in the late 70's. They sold compact diesel trucks here in the 70's and early 80's, with the LUV and S-10 diesels. And they had coil spring rear suspension on their fullsize pickup trucks in the early 60's. GM makes the best trucks.
  17. Bravo olds. Greeks are some of the smartest MoFo's I know. Has anyone in history come close to the many contributions we gave modern civilization, like: architecture philosophy democracy astronomy buttsecks sports and olympics mathematics and geometry alarm clocks odometer even early medicine So everyone better listen when a Greek speaks You forgot one, I fixed it for you.
  18. I got to drive an Audi Q7 TDi for an extremely shawt distance today.
  19. Let me guess... rusty brake lines.
  20. Thanks, olds....
