  1. How come it's in 4WD on a dry day on asphalt. That's abuse of the system.
  2. A big pile? Hmmm... I see no Fisker back there...
  3. Hopefully everything's going well. Enjoy yourself today, sir!
  4. Um... the Comanche was a unibody pickup, I srsly doubt it would have folded like the Cheverlay in the photo. I'd pick the Wrangler, with 6 cylinder and hardtop. Very maneuverable in tight spaces with a plow.
  5. I thought you liked those
  6. I'm surprised Subaru isn't higher on the list.
  7. The Volkswagen Golf: the most professionally presented car in its class since its inception. The Gold Standard. No wonder other brands continually compare themselves to it.
  8. People really like the Verano, with its affordable price, manageable size, luxurious interior, and simple, effective 2.4L/6 speed automatic powertrain. The Turbo should bring in some conquests, imo. The Sonic seems to be the best selling car in its class, and is doing pretty well. The little Spark has ignited something, it did pretty well right out of the gate, imo. The Malibu will recover, now that it has an honest powertrain. The reviews are in and it is unanimous... the 2.5 is the only Malibu worth buying (at least until the turbo arrives, then there'll be 2).
  9. Somebody's sittin' in a G6 back there.
  10. I do believe white Accords have crank sensors.
  11. No. The tampering is going on right now. Sigh.
  12. I don't think it has been tampered with much. Morrokide vinyl was an option that year, per Balthy's link, and buckets with console likely were as well. And I believe by this time fender skirts were optional. Balthy's link shows the proper door trim panels for a LL, did the car have pull straps and a wide swatch of woodgrain? Because I think a base LeMans would have a different door trim panel.
  13. I thought fender skirts were mandatory on Luxury LeMans models, but I see this one has full openings with moldings. I prefer the full openings, just curious what PHS might have to say... do you have the VIN? Can they shed some insight? The car, in the photos, looks very good. How's the corners of the vinyl top? See any bubbles? Morrokide was the standard upholstery material. A 400 2bbl is still a 400... by 1974 it could very well have been a 350, so you're a bit ahead of the game there, imo. The emissions sticker on the rad support, does it ID the engine as a 400? 400 2 bbl was the standard engine on Grand Ams that year. Not sure if LL was the same, or if a 350 was base. The car you're looking at appears to be Honduras Maroon (?) WOW. 210.9" long, 77.7" wide! A photo in the '76 brochure shows a Grand Lemans coupe without skirts, so it could have been that way in '74 also. By '76, a stinkin' (by comparison, it was a good motor in a C-10) Chevy 250 six was standard in the Grand LeMans.
  14. Ohhhhh... I see wut you did there... you erased JEEP! It's a pretty neat vehicle, in the Unimog mold. I like the fact that it has breakover and departure angles like my seriously Trail Rated Jeep Patriot!
  15. He sounds like a dangerous tinkerer. You know the type. If he keeps it up, he will have nothing. If you want to save it and do right by it, call him and issue a "cease and desist"!
  16. Oh man, all he's doing is destroying the value of the car. There is still time to save it though, man. Can't a/c lines be ordered through somebody like NAPA? Then you might also do a 134 retrofit.
  17. Tell us more, Camino. EDIT: Oh jeez, is he pulling the motor? Modifying it? Maybe you should have taken the asking price in cash with you, negotiated him down a bit, and trailered it home to a safe place... yer barn.
  18. BP, you're prolly right. Srsly. The above 4X4 looks OK and even more desirable with a high-rider look... but that 2WD shortie just BEGS for some sort of leveling kit, it reminds me of my '07 before I leveled it out. Those 20s look pretty good on the Sierra. I guess that is the chrome-clad, $1200 set, the Chevy version of which can be seen on the Blue Topaz Chevy I posted. To be honest, I prefer the GM Accessory 20" wheel that looks like a Torq Thrust, but it is $3000 for those! *choke* I think I could get real Torq Thrusts with tires for less than that, aftermarket. I think, according to what I read, the $3000 set are shipped unmounted, with the truck wearing place-holders. The dealer mounts them and does a suspension alignment. Also, an observation: it seems the Ram 1500 looks more at home wearing 20" factory wheels than the GMT900 does. I don't know why, it just seems more natural to me seeing a Ram wearing them than a 900. Maybe it's because they've been putting them on so many sporty trimmed Rams for several years now. I honestly always liked the 17" chrome-clad steelies, as shown on the maroon Sierra base 4X4 above. All they really need is a somewhat meatier tire. On a 4X4, it would be BFG All-Terrain T/A 265/70R17, and on a 2WD it would be Goodyear Assurance Triple Treds in the same size. Am I getting old? Chevy calls the green Fairway Metallic, and the blue is Blue Ray, as on the Camaro & Corvette. We've seen the Blue Ray on a Camaro, it is an extra-cost pearl color, I'm guessing. But I'd like to see the Fairway/Mineral Green. That Sonoma Red/Deep Ruby does look good, I have to concur.
  19. GMTG74... please don't. That thing is a rust bucket. He's hiding the holes in the floor with dirty socks in one photo... and who knows about the cab mounts, etc.
  20. No road trips today, felt crappy all weekend. Now I'm back on topic, longbed, reg cab 2WD LT, only with the base chrome-clad 17" steelies. And while red is not my thing, that new maroon looks nice. Maybe a maroon one with black cloth, the base chrome 17" rims, and a leveling kit is the way to go. Oh and a set of 265/70 17 Goodyear Assurance Triple Treds. Still in the dream phase, obviously.
  21. Well he seems like a timid fellow, maybe if he were TBS he'd be OK.
  22. Here's the production version. I am in love with the "2.8 Duramax" nameplate on the tailgate...
  23. In other words, it's a political thing. Somebody wants the US to electrify its automotive fleet, and apparently it matters not whether the public at large wants it or not.
