  1. are you serious it says turbo-rocket fluid on there
  2. Raining here, rained most of the night. Glorious, gentle rain.
  3. I haven't heard any new developments regarding the first accident in my neighborhood, but in the second accident (in TWO DAYS very local to me!), the 20 year old rider rear-ended the school van that was stopped in the road waiting for a car ahead of it to turn, got thrown and was hit and run over by the Cobalt coming in the opposing lane. I hope he felt no pain.
  4. Now I understand, steerable FENDERS. I just couldn't see a breakable seam in the first photos. EDIT: haha, reading back through, balthy tried to tell us that on July 12th.
  5. Ah, the Spark, such a little Champion. I was fearing this day.
  6. I'd like to see an option for the steel wheels to be body color, like some of the Rallys and Z28 wheels were back then.
  7. From Car&Driver: "A curious choice for a hybrid. A TV ad claims the Cadillac Escalade hybrid gets better EPA city mileage than a Mini Cooper, at 20 mpg versus 19. It’s true, but the Mini in question is a previous-generation supercharged 2008 Cooper S convertible with an automatic transmission, by far the thirstiest Mini available. Still, it is impressive that the 6020-pound Escalade with GM’s two-mode hybrid system improves the EPA city-mileage rating 67 percent over that of a regular Slade, which has a woeful 12-mpg city rating. But on the highway, the improvement is merely 2 mpg, from 19 to 21. In the real world, we returned 18 mpg in this rear-drive hybrid versus a range of 11 to 15 mpg for the three all-wheel-drive nonhybrid Slades we have tested. But the hybrid has a couple of problems. First, the price difference between a hybrid Slade and a base model is a whopping $10,930, which works out to be about $5000 more than a comparably equipped model. Assuming current gas prices and averaging 12,000 miles annually, it would take about five years to get a payback over our gas-guzzling, all-wheel-drive long-term vehicle. More worrying, the hybrid responds as sluggishly as a teenage boy who’s told to clean up his room. The hybrid’s 6.0-liter V-8 makes 332 horsepower, 71 less than the regular Slade’s 6.2-liter V-8, and even without all-wheel drive, it weighs 344 pounds more than our long-term Escalade did. That vehicle, aided by four-wheel traction, true, sprinted from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds when initially tested. The standing quarter took 15.2 seconds at 94 mph, with a top speed of 107 mph. The hybrid needed 8.4 seconds to reach 60 mph, took 16.5 seconds in the quarter-mile (at 86 mph), and topped out at 99 mph. Although passing-acceleration numbers are reasonably close to those of the regular vehicle, the hybrid doesn’t feel as willing in daily driving."
  8. Base 1LS with one option: white hockey stripe. Hardly the 45th Anniversary car in your profile pic.
  9. I think they baseline at around $23.5k. Code could start at $18k, topping out at around $27k or below, with a cap on expensive features, with Camaro going up into ZL1 territory at the top. There is room there.
  10. And her daughter drives a 16 mpg Escalade Hybrid, as opposed to a 15 mpg normal Escalade. What a bargain.
  11. Well, before 1959, a car's track was considerably narrower than its body, so without romance, maybe there was enough space to actually turn the wheels.
  12. I hope for a Code130R in addition to a Camaro. Code can have 2.5L base and 2.0t as top option. Camaro might start with 2.0t and go up to the new V8. Camaro is just too expensive to start, there needs to be a little brother to the Camaro that would appeal to a younger and/or poorer (like me) customer. Also, Code could spawn other bodystyles, allowing the Camaro to remain true to itself (for example a Nomad or El Camino variant).
  13. With the front wheels tucked inside snug fitting, skirted fenders, I wonder how the steering was envisioned to work. Check out those gullwing doors! Spectacular design though... WOW.
  14. In the most current photo in the article at the second link, the old gal looks pretty darn good! I understand the idea to roll another frame under it has been canned. I agree with that decision. I think it should be preserved in the state it's in after the cleanup, as shown. Too much wrenching on it will turn it into something different from what it should be, imo.
  15. Oh my God. On Thursdays I visit my mother for supper. I left a bit early since I'm bumming around these days. I came upon an accident about 2 miles south of my house, people were stopped in the road, it had just happened. I saw a white Cobalt sedan parked on the shoulder in the opposing lane, right side headlight dangling by the wiring, antifreeze puddled on the road beneath it. I could not see what was ahead. There were at least two vehicles in front of me. I could see that the left lane was clear, so I creeped into the lane and proceeded at a crawl. I saw a white Chevy Express passenger van with yellow "SCHOOL STUDENTS" stickers on the side and rear. Beneath the van was an orange sport bike. People were on their cell phones and in the roadway checking on people in another car that was off the road. Then I looked to my left and immediately became horrified. In the ditch was a young man's body, motionless, arms at his side. Wearing jeans, a striped shortsleeve shirt and a helmet, the shirt was pulled up. His clothes, helmet and stomach were abraded from sliding across the pavement. His visor was partially broken, but I couldn't see his face. His complexion was gray, the color of death. It was a scene seared into my mind's eye as I proceeded to pass at idle speed. No one was ministering to the boy. I traveled in silence. A short while ago on my way home, emergency personnel had the road blocked. I stopped and asked if the accident was fatal. The official said "yes sir"... I wonder how long it will take to erase the image of this young person out of my mind.
  16. Nice, albeit short video. Friends with GM on FB, they had it on their page! Thanks for bringing that over, GMTG.
  17. pretty wild, balthazar
  18. Well yup, but don't you think the Sprinter is considerably less ugly than the Fiat? Nothing a complete face transplant can't fix, I guess. And problem: aren't GM's Euro fullsize vans a joint venture with somebody like Renault or something? I will need to read up on that.
  19. After reading a local news article, apparently the other vehicle that was involved did not actually collide with the motorcycle. Picture showed a gray and black crotch rocket type bike with red trim. The scene is on my walking route... and there is still blood on the street. Sickening. Why leave such a horrible reminder when everyone is local and has to travel through there?
  20. Yes, the leatherette is gooey soft and somehow grippy but it wears like iron.
  21. Does anyone here remember the term "halo vinyl top"?
  22. At 5 pm today, two blocks from here, a young man inexperienced on his motorcycle lost his life when he was hit by a car. Both people involved are residents of my development. Witnesses said his head was almost off his body and that it took a long time to get the blood washed off the hot pavement. I feel so bad for both families. Just senseless loss. Another example of why I do not like motorcycles.
