  1. Eye-opening, chilling exchange.
  2. Local dealer has a beautiful blue A5. You're right, that thing is nice, it seems to have RWD proportions, as well.
  3. MAACO sucks, they don't even use real paint.
  4. sapling
  5. Cool man, a Z71 Tahoe. Looks good sir.
  6. Wow, next time we see a thread like this from Bob, I will be (counting on fingers... and now toes... multiplying, carry the "2"...) 87 years old! :AH-HA_wink: Congratulations at long last, Bob. You know what you've got, and you did good, sir.
  7. oooo, moltar, I will have to be on the lookout for that Hemmings issue. I like Hemmings' two recently introduced big glossies, with Classic and Muscle themes.
  8. I always liked the Lucerne. It's noticeably big without being clumsy, and elegant without being prissy. It's a nice, big, strong "Doctor's Car".
  9. That's OK, Mr. Dart. You're not "old enough" to be ready for a Buick anyway, are ya? :AH-HA_wink:
  10. Thanks for posting the comparative specs, empowah, but a "work truck" version of a Pontiac ST? I highly doubt that would materialize here. They'll need to be of a higher trim content to maximize profits and fit with Pontiac's brand mission.

    Wow..

I think I started lurking when I first heard of the new Chevrolet Panther, I think it was 1965. I was one year old. So yeah, I've been here a while.
  12. I just picked up this latest issue. Of great interest (to me at least) is a nice big article on the genesis and styling evolution of the 1977 GM fullsizers. This first round of modern GM downsizing was a spectacular success, followed in 1978 by another successful round when the A- and A-Special cars were made smaller. In 1979, the E-body cars were done, another success, imo. After that, things went downhill for GM, imo, as continued downsizing and the wholesale switch to FWD platforms reached a ridiculous fever pitch that GM has never fully recovered from until very recently. My hopes for GM's future have been high for the last few years, but are starting another downward turn, based on some of the signs so far. Keeping fingers crossed they'll make it through the coming storms with at least some compelling automobiles. Pick up the current issue of Collectible Automobile, with a nice looking green '70 Dodge Polara convertible on the cover, if you're interested in automotive history.
  13. ??? Mr. Dart, you know the next-gen LaCrosse/Regal has been seen all over the place in spyshots... on the Epsilon II platform IIRC.
  14. Forgot to mention... black 3 door Astra XR with no options at local dealer. I like the styling of the car, especially from the A-pillars back, and the 17" rims look good. That interior is really blah, though. Looks well put-together, but it is really somber, and the cloth upholstery looks chintzy, imo. Maybe the leather would make it more appealing.
  15. Ridiculous. An Alpha Calibra would have been a sweet Opel, and that is sooo much BS about FWD being less polluting than RWD... what the hell are they talking about? This would have been a car to elevate Opel from mass market to BMW 1-Series fighter in the class... I guess GME is content to play at and well below VW in the market perception game. A 5-door Zeta sedan with Maxx-like proportions and a luxury interior, diesel and 3.6L engines would have been a sweet rangetopper for Opel, as well... but I guess GME management knows the brand has nowhere near the cache to sell a luxury car.
  16. Performance Red G6 GT coupe with Street Package. Looks good, imo. It consists of the Bugs Bunny front fascia, side skirts and rear bumper of the GXP version of the package, but with last year's GTP 18" machined-face rims. The package really brings the car to the ground... so glad it does not include the ugly wing. Also saw some G6 sedans with the Chrome Package, which really brightens up the front end of the car. It consists of chromed lower grilles and a thicker band of chrome around a deep-set upper grille. Looks nice. Red HHR SS (another autotragic) at the local dealer. White BMW M3 totally destroyed, sitting at my family farm.
  17. The cop said it was a 2008.
  18. Wow, cool site wildman.
  19. Aww... the kittehs iz back!
  20. I like that baby blue Lambo, and the VW space up!. I used to go over to the Baltimore Auto Show every year, whether it was at the Convention Center, or out at the Timonium Fairgrounds.
  21. Read about this, totally senseless.
  22. Hmmm... I was wondering why the cover keeps disappearing off my webcam...
  23. Honestly, either F-body would be a daunting project for a young man in college. Just off the top of my head without doing any research, I'd say the Camaro would be easier to find repro parts for, but the Firebird would be more desireable for me because "everyone" has a first-gen Camaro. The Firebird looks to have a deluxe interior, with the pedal trim and such, nice. I wonder if you can get the VIN and run it through PHS. If you can buy either car for a low, low price and store it in a place at no cost to you where further deterioration will be slowed until you can work on restoring it properly, go for it. Most young guys though, I believe, might not have the patience to just buy a car and sock it away, protected for a few years until money catches up with desire so the end result will be something you want to keep forever. If it were me, ideally, I'd buy the Firebird, then store it for a few years. In the meantime, I'd read every bit of information I could on its history (PHS should be able to help you with the original build information), and also proper restoration techniques... the end result will be something you'll be proud to own, keep and show off for a long, long time, but it won't happen overnight. Putting a V8 in your Sonoma sounds like a fun project, but I predict that 3 months after it's done you'll be like "meh, why did I do this?" Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide.

  25. A brand new 1982 S-10 pickup, perhaps?
