  1. It takes blood, sweat and a few tears to keep a vehicle looking as good as you did, Walt. Some people need to be shot.
  2. Thanks, everyone. z, I have Progressive insurance, and we are not linked with them at our shop. A Progessive employee will come out to write the estimate. You better believe I will be hovering, however. My problem with Progressive is, they are big on aftermarket parts. I think I will be ok on this though, since the GMT900 is so new, there aren't many aftermarket parts available for them yet. Sigh... damn, this is sad for me.
  3. I came home for lunch today, and checked in here for a few minutes before heading back. On the way back to work I was involved in a traffic accident. My beautiful new truck is wrecked. An access road coming through the back way out of our local ballpark has a gentle arc leading to another, wide-open parking lot. At the very end of that road, about the last 20 feet or so, it turns sharply to the right to meet that lot. There are no stop signs, no lane markings and no speed limit, as it is private property belonging to the ballpark. Quite a few folks use it as a shortcut. Anyway, a guy in a black Cobalt sedan was driving through that rear lot, out of my line of sight (high fences obscure the view), went to make a hard left onto the access road just as I was rounding that sharp turn, and I hit him, from the fender all the way down the side of his car. The left front corner of my truck is messed up pretty bad. The bumper was into the tire. My boss came over and pulled the bumper away with a chain hooked to his Explorer so I could get it to our shop. We waited almost 3 hours for the police officer to arrive. Not a good day. I am sick.
  4. Miatas are cool and I'm sure, fun, but small, and I'm not sure how they are in snow. Do they have open differentials, or posi? I'd suggest a Civic coupe or hatch if it was owned by an adult (double-wishbone handling and Honda reliability), or perhaps a Saturn S-series coupe. The only thing I've heard negative about the S-series cars is, some of them burn oil. I'm sure PerdueGuy can give the lowdown on S-series longterm reliability. A security and maintenance concern with any convertible is the top. If you get a Miata, make sure the top is in good shape or you'll have another expense right away. Other than that, I don't know of anything negative about the Miata... I guess you've been to Miata owner forums to check for mechanical issues.
  5. I say every year I'd love to go, but it won't happen. I think everyone who goes should wear their bulletproof vests, not just wacky Holden haters.
  6. I dunno, sounds pretty dry to me... :AH-HA_wink:

Mr. smallchevy, I have no time to surf the net at work unless it is for work-related stuff like car-part.com. Also, no gay stuff at work. Work and personal life are two different animals.

    Cadillac Sedan DeVilla?

Nah man, actually (and rather embarrassingly), the search words were "gay prom". I posted it because I saw it was made by "yellowdart productions", or some such. What can I say, I was bored. :AH-HA_wink:

We are slammed, Mr. smallchevy. We are scheduling for Dec 26. Why do you ask?

Aww... I'm so proud of him! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-nYIjHHjeA :AH-HA_wink:
  12. That little Datsun is tough as nails!
  13. Well I could have pumped him full of all the negative stuff we've heard about the Tundra's reliability as I gave him a lift in my Sierra, a real truck. That alone could have been worth the trouble. :AH-HA_wink:
  14. The grandmother/grandson relationship can be very special. I hope things improve so she can come home soon.

Holy S*it! That's the sweetest Alero ever! I notice it has Grand Am mirrors though. I prefer the simpler, Olds-style mirrors as shown on the red Grand Am.
  16. Nah Toni, stace is cool in my book.

Ninety-Eight... the Grand Am and Alero always shared doors, it's just that the Pontiac covered the Alero "cove" up with cladding until the last couple of years.

Yup, all afternoon if somebody said "Lincoln Town House", we'd all crack up. Hey, vonVeezel! That's the exact car!
  19. I thought I remembered reading that they were popular as fire trucks. True or false?
  20. Oh My God, that little kid is badass! That's so cool!

A sweet little old lady came in today for an estimate on her Glacier Blue Buick Century (amazingly, with chrome, late-model Intrigue wheels on it with Buick center caps, hmmm... was that an obscure Century special edition built after Intrigue production ended?) Anyway, she was sitting in the office, shooting the breeze with my manager, telling him the story of how her right front corner got banged up. She was in a local mall parking lot, "when a lady driving a Lincoln Town House hit me!" We all managed to keep it together while she was with us, but when she left, we were rolling. All I could think of was asking her "3 bedroom, 2 and a half baths?" But I held my tongue. Hehehehehe, oh man.
  22. Ack, I hate when that happens. I happened to me in my '94 S-10, only I was crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (4.3 miles long), at night in a driving rainstorm, and traffic was moving at like 60 mph. Yikes, so I can understand your pain. Mine was the circuit board on the wiper motor, covered under a recall. Hey I just noticed something vonVeezel, that trim piece at the base of your windshield on the inside looks like it is not split in half... just about every Cav of your vintage down here has that piece split from temperature extremes, I'd guess.
  23. Did you miss that thread, davey? Camino got himself an Escalade Platinum with a supercharged 6.0. He's a Baller now, yo!
  24. That last word, is that a typo? :AH-HA_wink:
  25. Cool, who's the dork with the robot monkey? :AH-HA_wink:
