  1. You know, I think Mr. Fly has a point, and so does Oldsmoboi. With the current Chevy front end and non-GMT800 taillights, this thing could do well here... NEVER as a replacement for a true El Camino, but as a small runabout pickup, especially if it has AWD. I used to see a grayish-green Rabbit pickup down in MD, a diesel with exhaust stacks (ha), and up here I occasionally see a very clean Rabbit pickup with rims, exhaust and a non-factory (but sensible, not wild) paint color. There is also a raggedy-looking Rampage, gold and brown two-tone, running around town. The time could be ripe for a return of a few tiny pickup trucks, especially with "compact" trucks growing ever bigger.
  2. Dude, that's the old Statesman.
  3. Well, I was using the word "mesh" in general terms, yeah, there was a crosshatch mesh on the 76s and vertical bars on the '77s, for the Classic trim level, at least. Didn't they still have a base model El Camino, at least in '76, with the round headlight front end and grille of the base, non Classic Malibu? Was there a bowtie in the center of both '76 and '77 models? I thought the bowtie was omitted on 77s, at least on the Malibu... I am relying on memory.

  5. Nice car, I like the tan.
  6. Everything's loading so fast I'm a bit dizzy. :AH-HA_wink:
  7. GM has been accused of not properly marketing their vehicles. These are good examples contradicting that reputation, even if they're only in one town. Thanks for posting.
  8. ...as he stabs the box of Cheerios...
  9. You're the one doing him, PCS. Nice pictures, Bob. I was wondering where you've been.
  10. But have you tried the new Peppermint Pattie pie? I haven't myself, but I am thinking about it. HA! After reading what I just posted... I have to say this. I am sure Marcy has tried Peppermint Patty's pie, "sir". :AH-HA_wink:
  11. Camino, how can you tell that's a '76? I cannot tell which grille mesh it has... was the bowtie in the grille only on '76s... hmmm... I think I just answered my own question. My H/T-body memory is fuzzy. I did remember they put the Sunbird name on the T-body Vega-based wagon after the Astre name went kaput... but did they put the Monza name on Chevy's T-body wagon after Vega died in 1977?

    HaHaHa?

Did you guys read that thing where Australian temp agencies, hiring Santas for the season, suggested to them NOT to say the beloved, intrinsically linked HoHoHo, but to say "HaHaHa" instead... to avoid offending women? This has got to be one of the stupidest, most lamebrained things I've read... like little kids would even know anything about hoes.
  16. To me, the new VUE is a bit of a step backwards (looks-wise only) after the first-gen, but this is totally gorgeous, and totally different than the Saturn. This is a real GMC! :AH-HA_wink:

  18. I spy a '77 Chevelle/El Camino in one of those pics.
  19. Um, we don't want the Neon. You guys keep it... please.
  20. Yeah, I think we all remember the fears laid out about Cerebrus' (sp?) plans for Chrysler Corp before the purchase... that an investment group is not interested in nurturing a company like this, but breaking it up and selling it off for profit. Disgusting.
  21. Good Gravy, are they lunatics over there? Getting rid of Dodge cars is a very stupid idea. Dodge and Chrysler cars can, and DO, have their own distinct identities.
  22. I salute Hyundai for recognizing a trend (the need for affordable RWD) and acting on it. I think that new coupe (whatever it will be called) is very handsome, with classic RWD proportions (long door-to-front-wheel relationship), and the turbo 4 and V6 engine options sound good. I think this will sell well, as kids who are into the drifting scene won't have to buy worn out old Datsun 240SXs. This is the Formula (get it? :AH-HA_wink: ) Pontiac should mix together for their Alpha coupe... imagine an Alpha Tempest with Turbo DI Ecotec power and 3.6L DI as the top performance offering. That would go a long way toward making Pontiac truly desirable again with the young and the young at heart, who might feel a V8 is overkill these days.

  24. Well now just ew.
