    MOMS

I feel guilty because I lied to my mother. "So, now that you've joined a gym, have you met any girls there?" "No, they're all fat old ladies." "No they're not, that's not what's on the commercials. They're all skinny, built girls in the commercials." "You don't believe me?" I am stuck, like a dusty needle on a record.
  2. Girls have cooties.
  3. That hood is dead, imo. Unless you weld a length of angle iron to it. '73-'79 Chevy pickups were notorious for this. I think J.C. Whitney had a repair kit for them... a length of thicker steel to attach to that vertical edge. The hood is so physically large that it needed heavy duty mechanisms to hold it up. As soon as the grease dried up, those mechanisms became very stubborn, and the hood would buckle from the effort needed to bring it closed.
  4. I'm thinking that sound may be from the camera car... or truck. No wait, tractor. It's from the camera tractor. The video quality is still not great in this version.
  5. The last Bonneville GXP was better looking than the G8. It was all Pontiac, not just the grille and emblems. The interior of the last Bonneville was overdone, that much is obvious, and this new car's interior blows it away, but for exterior style, there is simply no comparison. That Bonneville GXP was authentic, and with the right drive wheels and a more sane interior, would have been a righteous competitor instead of a last gasp. The G6 is authentic. The Solstice is authentic. This car's design is foreign, and I don't mean it just literally, I mean figuritively. Viper, you're reaching pretty far to defend this car as having any design continuity at all. A grille and badges (and that's all it is!) does not a brand make!
  6. Cool, looks like Holden designers did the taillights.
  7. Daggone, this is getting to be an everyday thing. Birthdays all over the place. When's it going to stop? :AH-HA_wink: Nah but seriously, both of you are having milestone Birthdays today. So celebrate good times, yeah.

  9. Do you live at the top of a hill?
  10. Please, if you happen to swing by that way, take some pictures of the Pontiac G8. Thanks.

    MOMS

Yeah, so it's Thursday. Dinner at mom's once again. I called her from my truck to tell her I'd be a few minutes late because I had to pick up my taxes. Big mistake. All evening she tried to pry out of me how much my refund will be. "It's not a big thing. How much will you get back?" "I'm not going to ask you to buy me anything." "I'll bet if your dad asked you, you'd tell him." etc., etc. Then she turned to "well, now that you've joined a gym, have you met any girls there?" "Is your new truck as nice as your old one?" I swear, it's in their DNA. Is everyone's mom this way? :AH-HA_wink:
  14. Plumcrazy. Another friend of mine. Sigh.

    daves87rs!

Why you sneaky little devil. You almost got away with it. But I got you. Hope your day's been a good one, sir!
  17. We've seen some Zeta Impala sketches that take some Camaro traits. What I was describing above for my "dream G8" front end would be to take some cues from the 1970 Firebird for the front end without copying that car. The Camaro successfully emerges into the 21st century with its identity intact without being labeled "retro". The same should be done over at Pontiac for their flagship. The G8 should have been a signal, a trailblazer, for all Pontiacs to come for the next decade. Instead, we get a Holden with the barest bit of Pontiac DNA.

  20. Well, looks like Satty's weekend is all planned. A smoothie and a date!
  21. "squishy" Well, looking over the thread, I see I'm not the only dissenter. I was feeling like a canary in a coal mine. Where I believe Pontiac should be warm, romantic and sensual in its excitement (Solstice is the purest modern example), this car is cool, technical, and bland, even generic. Again, I am all for something new from Pontiac, but this, somehow, just doesn't do it for me. When we heard the rumor of Solstice-derived styling for the G8, most everyone cried. Think of the G8 front end with single element, round headlamps, a wide, split grille with signal lamps within, and Pontiac signature round foglamps. More upright and visually wider than the bulbous Solstice to befit its place in Pontiac's lineup. The hood scoops would stay. The fenders would have the exact same scallop as Solstice, with updated arrowhead. The sides would have a gently curved beltline without the over-used BMW kink. The rocker panel area would have a slight taper. The rear end would have high mounted, red teardrop taillamps. I am thinking the Velite rear end, with those taillamps, looks like something derived from Solstice, and would fit on a big Pontiac very well. I have in my mind what I want, I wish I could bring it to life through a chop or a sketch. I honestly do hope this car sells, despite what I feel are basic, anti-brand failings. Pretty wheels on this concept are a distraction. What's the production GT and base model going to look like with normal ride height and smaller wheels?
  22. Whoa, looks like a fun project, Camino. More pics please, when you get it home.
  23. *waves* hello? down here! it's a february car spotters thread! :AH-HA_wink:
  24. I started a thread for February, but everyone ignored it: "Valentine Car Spotters".
  25. Quite a few magazines have Tacomas in long-term tests right now, coincidentally. And the reviews are not all wine and roses. Just about every report I've read indicates a warrantable problem or two or three with the test trucks. I wouldn't trust Consumer Reports to make the decision for me to buy toothpaste, let alone a vehicle. enzl, do you work in warranty adminstration at these dealerships?
