  1. Alright , you guys are being a little bit too whiny. Please go buy the cars whose interior is exactly like you want because the Lacrosse is not that car, it is what it is.....different from that car.
  2. Someone has one around this area they show I thought it was interesting. I like Ford interiors but the styling doesnt suit me. I agree that most convertables dont have much looks with the top up but the GM siccor top B bodies looked good - to bad the siccors type mechanism was not really any good . Convertable with detachable HT look good, my Alpine was sharp. Fiat 124 looks good with top up. Some Camaros werent to bad. The Skyliner ? Its a Ford.
  3. Albany NY area has a good mix but of course lots of Camrys less Accords, then lots of GM's Fords Chryslers. Oldsmobile were plentiful but are now fading from view as "planned". Lots of SUVs but who pays attention to what they are, there all Blazers to me. Theres a few Audi and VW dealers that have done well around here, lower volumn but they sell. The big problem around here is Hyundia, we have a dealer that does a huge salethon in august. His goal is 1000 cars, he comes close and that must really hurt other dealers. Hyundia is gonna be tuff to compete with with that 10/100,000 and low prices plus salethons = trouble.
  4. Let me get this straight, the Cavalier is gonna cost more than the LaCrosse, GP
  5. Would have been easier to say "its not a Honda " or you could have been more exacting like "its not a cheezy 90's Honda"
  6. peeks back in through cracks in boards Higgins - "Oh my God ! " I was thinking when I began this Custom Toro parade I was going in the wrong direction. i should have started with the worst and finished with the best. I was afraid of the mental damage this car might cause if seen first and everyne would be afraid to open any further related topics  :o "Oh my God !"
  7. I like it because it is different as it is. The door panels are slackers, the dashpad itself could use some more character. Hpw about a flat top so I could throw my maps, cigs, lighter, coffee cups, pens, and everything else imagineable up there. LOL. i do miss flat top dashes. I quit smoking 6 years ago. Its the door panels and lack of color choises as well as stupid "cloth" that really bugs me. Its all manufacturers. Tan* grey black tan grey black tan grey black tan grey black tan grey black tan gray black tan gray black, yada yada yada. * PC word for piss yellow or baby shit brown
  8. The only way to aviod this is to stop the outsourceing and the curb importation as well as "in country manufacturer of foreign" This will get contributions back into the funds and jobs back into the country. We can not be a consumer only nation. We need national product. talking IRA's or 401 when thats the system ones retirement has always been in is easy. For someone that has years contributed into pension that is being told "to bad" pennys on the dollar is bull shit. Its only fine if your only effected from the arm chair. These people dont want the government to support their retirements. Thats why most all Union contract issues have evolved around job security and investment in N. American facilities. They know this is how to have continuance of a system that was fine and working fine until thousands of CEO's and wallstreet criminals decided there would be nothing wrong with selling our assets. SSI needs to stop giving money to Immigrants. SSI needs to stop giving money to wealthy retirees that have great assets, portfolio, and retirement plans. SSI should have a income bracket ceiling cutoff. These golden folks should have no problem living without SSI checks and feel good about helping out a bad situation for a country whos economic system has been so good to them. It would come back around to where it needs to be quik. There are many who worked non union and low wage jobs that have nothing but SSI and they were an equal contributing part of what made America go round. "times have changed" "IRA's" "401K's"All these ideas sound great if you just ignore the few generations that are caught in the middle of this gready bullshit. Blaming current old folks for being retired and collecting is BS, acting like you are supporting them is BS. They contributed this money and this money was invested and had returns, however manipulation of the system, economy and other devious doings have removed investment returns. Younger people are crying like that about SSI and retirement funds because they have been told the money will be gone. But we were told the same thing 20 years ago or more. We just accepted the system and figured it would come ack around, but who would have predicted the shameless greed at the top that was the 80's,90's & 00's. Its amazing whats legal in this country and what isnt !
  9. What would you do if you came across one of these in a barn ? "start smoking again !" Na , Id loose the arches, make tastefull grill with hidden lights and some form of lower facia or airdam. Hide the line on the C pillor and it wouldnt be too bad. I think those mods are buckets of bondo
  10. Whats this sig Balthy a Buick ? Wires ! a Cadillac ? I dont get the Barris thing either. I have seen a few Ok jobs, the Toro Mannix roadster wasnt bad but then he made the tonneu so that it mess up the finale. This Toro reminds me of that awful thing Hundia or Kia had going on a few years back with that crossover and the "sportscar" I forget what it was called. The last Javalin/AMX had a more tastefull version of this exagerated wheel arch.
  11. There was a handful of them around this area a few years back. One for sale last summer. It is my favorite front facia on the late B's, somehow I never realized they had the vista roof. I think one of the white ones around had wood. A few cars back I looked at two previous generation LeSabre wagons in decent shape, but decided not to go big and bought the 89 NYer instead, no regrets.
  12. Scariest car I ever did see. If this was someones first impression of a Toronado they might be ruined for life. Here it is 1 of George Barris's 67-X's extended 15" the custom accomodations in the rear seat is the only thing I can deal with. heres a short story In 1967, Imperial Oil of Canada requested 3 new customized Toronados also from G. Barris to be won through a lottery. The lucky winners received a beautifully redesigned Toronado known as 67-X. Its wheel base, extended by 15 inches, provided extra leg room for the luxurious interior which had been fitted with front swivel bucket seats, a rear seat lounge as well as a console and a stereo AM-FM radio. The front end had been extended and two simulated air scoops added to the hood while the back end sported a fastback style. Extended front and back bumpers achieved a pointy look, but the over-emphasized wheelwells contributed to the futuristic allure of the whole car. (source: 1001 Custom and Rod Ideas).
  13. Diesel commuter cars, will be awsome in backed up rush hour traffic Diesel commuter cars, will be awsome when our cities are chock full of them stinking up the place. I love diesels but realize whats wrong with them. Ever sat next to one at a redlight, its like "cripes would you shut that off already !" rattle stink tap tap tap rattle stink tap tap tap. Maybe with this hybred tecnology where they shut off while sitting but then theres a cold start diesel problem, its a nightmare. We had a VW back in early 90's was great, cheap, had to flog the heck out of it to get up hills, was annoying at redlights, not to bad starting in winter. Limited places to fuel up. We were pleased to be able to afford a Buick and move up in luxury, size, comfort and fresh air silence Our government rather than fixing up a desert rat hole could be getting mass transit in place in our country.
  14. Word ! we are headed for checkmate, corporate America doesnt care, they are golden, way to much money to be hurt, its all been about short term gains for 20 years now.
  15. History has never proved this. Why ignore all the results ? especially on the day one recieves the bill for timing gear replacement LS engines give huge smile at all times
  16. 36"
  17. 3.8 engine pros rock solid economical square, easy to place easy to maintain and service great power per pound in NA form - killer in forced induction cons none all the whiners that have never owned one 60* family pros naturaly balanced good design by other manufacturers but not GM weights 1.68 lbs less than its superior 90* cousin Cons too tall screwy intake manifold less durable than its 90* superior previously underpowered with poor economy finally getting to levels of refinement 3.8 has been at for decades 4.3 = just another Chevy engine
  18. Well we've lowered all our other standards, might as well complete the job. It would only take a week or two, after that it would no longer be necessary. Like everyone always says sacrifices must be made :P In reality the expence for immigration may rival that of welfare and like welfare they just keep comming back. I dont have the answer but something is wrong with the picture. Jailtime ? Really whats the answer, its been like swattin at May Flies but way more expensive.
  19. http://www.americanlemans.com/home/index.aspx 2.54-mile, 12-turn Grand Prix course 10 hour 1000 mile race It was a "bloody" battle between the two C6-R's and the two Aston Martin DBR9 for GT1 placement. Some great footage of these four cars batteling through much of the race. silver car may be Saleen with the car two back from last Aston may be Maserati, no mistaking the Corvettes and Astons In the end it GT1 class was 1. #4 Corvette 3rd overall 2. #57 Aston ...4th overall 3. #63 Saleen..6th overall 4. Maserati......8th overall 5. Aston Martin 11th overall 6. #3 Corvette [lost drive] 12th overall 7. Viper ...........20th overall GT1 is getting real interesting
  20. Everyone is aware of the 60* bla bla bla and it sounds so great but as per all my posts it just has never ever been able to accomplish the durability and economy per power as the 3.8. The 3.8 was always the better engine. Now recently the 3.5 & 3.9 may finally be where they should be except for the mileage on the 3.9. The 3.4 or $># twin cam was little more than a liability. And talk about a tight fit. GTP went from DOHC 3.4 to L67 for damn good reason and when it did it finally became a car with sizeable hot rod following. LQ was a worthy project half assed as per GM and droped because of maintence costs and ease of service. It just wasnt user friendly. Unhooking engine mounts and "rocking " engine to change plugs, we 90* Buick owners just chuckle. Breaking timing belts, leaking O rings. Cool engine but, no thanks! " 90* is too large and bulky to be useful in typical car applications." As I said earlier the 3.8 fits better than the 2.8 or 3.1 ever did. The HO 3.0 90* was the high option and was used in mid 80's Skylarks, Grand Ams and others. The 90* 3.3 replaced it and was the best engine option in the later Cieras, Centurys and even the smaller Skylarks. Eventually replaced altogether by the more improved 3100. The 3.8 was designed off a 90* V8 Buick. It evolved from there in many upgrades or "refinements" but that is its roots and why it was a 90*. The 211hp 3.5 has come along ways from its 110hp 2.8 ancestor. Im not pineing for the 3.8 here, I mean I wish they would advance it but they havent so our hopes ly in the 3.9 and mileage is not what it should be especially with all this "high feature" BS.
  21. Taking illegals to immigration processing them then placing them on planes or buses and sending them away costs lots of money. Shooting them at the border is priceless. Fat is not the only expensive health care issue we have. People have always been fat unless your talking 1800's Apalacha. HTe biggest problem is the health providers working their job security, as well as prescribing medicine as a fix all and unless someone checks the doctor will always prescribe the most expensive designer drugs. Its a real scham, just pay attention and think about it next time you do visit your doctor. Man a mandatory sports physical for a teenager is $125.00 or at least it was, now is probably even higher. It amounts to little more than blood presure, weight and heart rate plus a few basic questions. In and out in 10 minutes. Its complete bull shit. Same with DOT physical, its more complex with eye and ear and urine tests but they are over 200 now, BS. Mandatory too, its the we got ya clause, Cha ching cha ching. The government, insurance industries and health providers promote this increasingly demanding and stringent mandatory "health care steps" that have drivin it throught he roof. Then they get the sheeple to take it out of their pockets. They are just working their job security and strenghening their wealth. Pa leeze keep your eyes on the source of the problem.
  22. Cars are too heavy, approaching levels that we were trying to excape with all the down sizing. Now were smaller but only 300-7oo lb less. In some cases heavier than the 60's & 70's midsize that were biger than our current fullsize. Thats why we need to add some hip and buttox air bags. How about a few own by the feet, "toe bags" "kneecap bags". How about some for the idiots that walkout infront of moving traffic "hood bags". How about some for flying off bridges into rivers and lakes "car bags", hell put parachute for soft landing too. Now we need at least 5 TV screens with individual computors, playstations, DVD's plus GPS so our children can see exactly where they are sitting in the car. Now lets not forget sound system, that needs to be at least as big as LedZeppelin was using in the 70's, na thats an insult those guys are grandpas we need 8-24" woooooofers with 35lb magnets and 30,000 watts with 100disc CD. Ill think of more later
  23. sellin off our assets, sellin our childrens future, just for quick personal capitol gains, is this what our fathers fought for ? American pride ? yarite !
  24. well Id say my origional G body guess was very close, being how both the B & G were made by the same cardboard box manufacturer :0
