  1. Still apples and oranges. SLP is the one behind this, and the only cars that were truly theirs have been Firehawks. It is the name they own as opposed to "SS" for example. They have very good reasons to use the name on a tuner Pontiac. Think of it this way, there have been Formula Firehawks, and Trans Am Firehawks, and now there is a G8 Firehawk. I really don't see a big conflict there. All have been high performance RWD V8 Pontiacs. Yes, I know that they intend to do the V6 cars this time, and I object to that. But I might object less if those cars get the supercharger option as well. SLP does upgrades quite well, and the Firehawk name is what amounts to their "franchise player", so I don't blame them for using it on the G8. It will be the fastest Firehawk yet!
  2. To each his own. Saabs have always looked goofy to me, and this one is no exception.
  3. Apples and oranges, 68. Note that I do object to the name on V6 cars.
  4. Nicely written article though.
  5. I don't mind a car that kicks the tail out from time to time. I just find the Saab completely unappealing. Not my style in any way.
  6. I'll pass.
  7. Look in my sig for answer. :AH-HA_wink:
  8. I suggest that all PETA members stop breathing... they are wasting oxygen.
  9. This debate is raging on quite a few boards. Interestingly, Firehawk owners tend to be more accepting of the idea than most. Then again, we know what to expect from SLP. This is my post on the Firehawk board. : Potentially, this could yield the most perfect ride for me ever built. Provided that it is available on the upcoming G8 ST as well. 2-doors, a supercharger, and a Firehawk badge on my default bodystyle. It would be heaven for me.
  10. Really, I'm fine with it. OK, maybe not on V6 cars. But the G8 is a great car and SLP does a fantastic job. I'll take the supercharged version on my ST please. V what?
  11. The Senate just passed it. I think the tide is in GM's favor for once.
  12. This is very good news for GM and the Volt.
  13. Here is the whole teaser flyer: On an ST, I think I can accept the name Firehawk. I know a thing or two about what it is supposed to mean. :AH-HA_wink:
  14. Cool in the extreme! I am jealous.
  15. Been wondering where you got to. Welcome back!
  16. This will be an aftermarket package unlike the original Hawks which were RPO second sticker cars. I should probably talk with my friends at SLP about this.
  17. Well, you're one up on me- I don't own, and have never worn, a kilt.
  18. I should probably make some calls...
  19. My family (father's side) is fairly well-documented and I've done a bunch of research. Unfortunately there is a gap in the information past my GG Grandfather, but I know more ancient background and hope to connect the dots. The clan in Scotland has its own DNA project going and I'd like to participate at some point. This history fascinates me. The progenitor of the family was Somerled, who famously ousted the Norse from the sea Kingdom of Dalraida. Recent DNA evidence indicates that he himself was part Norse, which is a bit ironic.
  20. It's a '72 notchback coupe.
  21. Nice find,YJ.
  22. The defective thinking at GM is so blatant these days. To value Saturn of all things above Pontiac is sheer stupidity.
  23. Exactly. GM execs seems to need a bit of growing up too - this infighting makes them look like petulant children.
  24. Cool video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4202264383885440275
