  1. It may surprise some of you, but for me Iraq is a minor issue in this election.
  2. Cool story. What's it need?
  3. I lived in Manayunk for a year.
  4. I... don't think I can help with this. :AH-HA_wink:
  5. All true. I'm waiting for the announcement of the GXP sport truck (with manual).
  6. That's not the whole of things for me, although I love torque more than horsepower. I just have never liked "high -winders" at all. The notion that my engine is just "loafing " at highway speeds makes me smile. Small, wound out engines just are like fingenails on a chalkboard to me.
  7. Never liked rev happy engines, nor very compliant suspensions. So, ironically, what reg saw as a downside makes me want one even more. :AH-HA_wink:
  8. It depends on the time of day. We have a large contingent from California. Myself? Pennsylvania - outside of Philly.
  9. The truck, hands down. Trucks offer opportunities that none of the other choices can. And, the cost of fuel will keep him honest. Maybe you could build something like a musclecar together while he's driving the truck. That way the learning opportunuties are hugely expanded. A truck really is a "support vehicle" it can even earn money is used as it should be. I'll leave it there, I'm sure you can read the rest into it.
  10. Thanks! I'll add to this when the project reaches the top of the list. (pics too)
  11. True that. I hated them when they were new (or newish), preferring the older 68-72 styles (still do really). But as time went on, I realized that these cars could be very cool with a little power increase, and they are uber-comfortable. There are also some stand outs among them like Can Am/Grand Am pontiacs and the M/C which I think is a better looking car than the 70-72 version. What's great about them now is that the bodystyle is overlooked and inexpensive, while maintaining a very familiar and workable chassis. These cars can be every bit as powerful as the earlier cars and rank much higher in creature comfort. I see them as a good buy and as appreciating classics. The prices for nice ones have been climbing lately.
  12. This tech is being applied to GM's two-mode vehicles as we speak to offset the weight of the hybrid powertrains. I imagine that use of these materials will expand going forward. It would be nice to see "factory lightweights" again.
  13. It's unclear whether or not the GT will get a manual eventually. I doubt we will know until after the GXP goes into production.
  14. You sent some interesting stuff down the road to do your 59.
  15. Cool pics.
  16. For now, this link to an old thread is all you get. I plan to finish this one after the wagon is done. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...;hl=Mothertruck
  17. Killer intro Balthazar, keep it going! Interesting exhaust routing shown on that chassis.
  18. Exactly Balthazar, I had intended to simply swap the drivetrain from the Camino into the wagon and call it good - but now I have two full resto projects on my hands. So it goes.
  19. Delta II will be built in quite a few places and underpin a wide variety of cars (including the Volt). I expect that the Cobalt replacement (whatever its name) will make us forget about how good this one is. Not a bad thing, that.
  20. I have yet to reach a firm decision on who I'm for. The fact that I feel this way is testament to how badly our current fool has performed. It is stunning to think that any president could squander the golden opportunity provided by the worldwide goodwill in the aftermath of 9/11. I still can't believe that it all happened the way it has, simply amazing.
  21. I'm not at all confident that any of the three candidates will have a meaningful impact on the cost of oil. In fact, I'm thinking that maybe we should choose one of them based not on what they will do better, but on how much what they intend to do will make things worse. I can't see a clear winner when I look at it that way. I'm thinking that our next president would be a real hero by simply stabilizing things and not raising the level of chaos. I guess I'm just hoping for a single term president with the power to calm things down. It will be the administration which follows that must be all action. Bold steps forward founded on the calm of my hypothetical one-termer. I know it's an odd viewpoint, and I've just recently arrived at it, but it makes more and more sense to me all the time. I just think we could all do with a 4-year "timeout".
  22. Despite polite requests, civility has not been maintained here in this otherwise good thread. Since that is the case, the thread will now be locked. It is time for those on their high horses to step back and adjust their behaviour. The baiting and antagonism is wholly unnecessary and must end now. If this applies to you, take it as a warning, that sort of conduct is damaging to the board and we will take action against those who perpetuate it. so adjust yourself before we have to.
  23. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you,68? :AH-HA_wink:
