  1. That avoids the bigger issue.
  2. I'm wondering how you will spin things when the ST sells at capacity. When the G8 lineup and the Solstice Targa are hits, you might find some resistance to murdering Pontiac in the name of your grand plan.
  3. Pretty sure way to kill the elephant.
  4. For a whole host of reasons, Americans won't gravitate to microcars in terribly significant numbers despite the cost of gasoline. We are much more likely to push our way toward alternative fuels - it is a much more natural direction for us. We like to have our cake and eat it too, sacrifice and belt tightening just tends to piss us off. We would much rather conquer the issue and maintain the choices we have. It is all tied up in both the size of our country and our desire to live as we choose. Microcars will always be perceived here as cheap and lowly - no matter the reality. I take comfort in that.
  5. I am talking about the core market here, the automatic sales engendered by the design. El Caminos have rarely been primary cars for most folks, they buy them because they love them rather than for the utility. This in no way excludes buyers who want that utility, nor the younger demographic that simply likes the style and has no need for a family car. I know of quite a few 20 somethings that are already planning on buying an ST. In short, the ST has a wide appeal in that different buyers have different reasons for wanting one, but the early adopters will be Camino fans like me.
  6. Nomads have side windows - this is a sedan delivery. I saw this done very well (including side windows) quite a few years ago in a car rag (Hot Rod?). The execution on the one I remember made this one look like the pile that it is. My only objection to the one in the mag was color choice, otherwise is was very nice.
  7. 59 Caminos are cool in their own special way, I will probably own one somewhere along the line.
  8. While I agree that the loss of sound and fury (and that awesome race gas scent) would make electric drags a lame substitute, I will say that people will drag race anything that moves. So we will see all sorts of alternative drags, but nothing will replace the original.

    *blink*

C'mon Ocn, you know March snow isn't unusual around here. Somewhere I have a pic of daffodils covered in snow... in April! Some of our biggest snowstorms have happened in March.
  10. The main target audience for the ST consists of those who remember and love the El Camino, a mark the ST hits precisely. The SSR, on the other hand, missed that mark by a considerable margin.
  11. I'm loving how this thread is turning out!
  12. Not quite the same, but close enough. Mine was the ham and cheese variety, with several types of cheese and killer pizza sauce inside. I think I could eat another one, working out in this cold weather really stokes my appetite.
  13. Fly is MIA, you may as well cancel the check.
  14. Thanks for saving me the effort - well said, Turbo.
  15. That's why I was surprised. Don't worry, I promise not to tell Scott. :AH-HA_wink:
  16. Last chance for anyone who is owed a refund to post up.
  17. We're still talking so I guess you missed a few things...
  18. That thought has occured to me as well. :AH-HA_wink:
  19. That's about 3 of me. How do you know about my hat habits?
  20. '69
  21. Yup! 1970 454 SS
  22. I see you lurking, 68. Can't make up your mind?
