  1. Not worth freaking out about.
  2. I have got to make it to this event next year! Cool to see the Camaro B4Cs lined-up, and the Chevelles and Caminos are calling to me. :AH-HA_wink:
  3. Top: 1927ish GM?, maybe a Buick? Mid: Pontiac 1948-50 Bottom: Mercury Comet 1964-66
  4. Trimming dealers? Yes. Killing brands? No, isn't going to happen.
  5. Give the grille a chrome surround, recess the honeycomb a bit, eliminate the crossbar, and slap an SS badge in the center. Then, pull the lower fascia back into the body eliminating the "shelf" look and we'd have a much better looking nose for this car. Still, though I hate front-drive, this car gives me one more reason to save a little place for it in my car-loving heart. With this new SS, the HHR re-affirms its place as one of the top 3 Front-drivers in my book. Z: X2 on the SS panel idea (first thing to cross my mind).
  6. Sandusky: site of the annual Firehawk Rally.
  7. I voted to kill it. I hate the car and I hate the name. Before you all jump on my case for that, here's my reasoning. The 3 series recipe is a good one, I endorse the concept. RWD performance needs to be Pontiac's focus (with AWD options). What Pontiac doesn't need is a Camcord fighter - that job belongs to Chevy and Saturn. With all of that said, I see the G6 as a transition product to help Pontiac move from FWD boredom to true performance cars. So, yes, the G6 should move to EP II for a short time and then be killed as Alpha comes to market. FWD Pontiacs need to become a thing of the past ASAP, as does the lame G* naming scheme. I'll be very happy to see them go.
  8. Great pics as always, Mouse! I love the Acadian! :AH-HA_wink:
  9. A Ramjet 502 in a bug! Holy crap!
  10. Good stuff!
  11. North - hands down. Real trees and an environment I could deal with. I've been to both and driven down the coast highway from the bay area to LA. I did like San Luis Obispo, but not enough to want to live there. I think LA is a pit and have no interest in socal in general. Muir Wood north of SF, is one of the most amazing places I have ever been. I love Redwoods, and would like to see them again. I'll probably have to visit LA again (like it or not) as my sister lives there. Otherwise, I doubt that I'd ever set foot there again.
  12. My reservations about the Camaro are mostly packaging concerns (which eliminate it for the Corvette as well). But, the notion of a mid-engined Pontiac sporting this powerplant - Wow! It's too damn late to be giving me ideas like that, Mr Caddy! :AH-HA_wink:
  13. Thank you, Sir. :AH-HA_wink:
  14. I hate to repeat myself, but...
  15. When you make a deal with the devil...
  16. Says it all.
  17. In Corvette or Camaro, no. In something new, yes please.
  18. " Rise up! Children The fight goes on and on. Wise up! Children..."
  19. All of this mental masturbation about killing brands is utterly pointless, it isn't in GM's plan - get over it. GM is downsizing, just not by killing brands. 1. Overlap models are being eliminated 2. Fleets sales are being decreased 3. unneeded fringe businesses are being sold-off 4. the workforce is being re-sized to fit the market 5.surplus plants are being closed 6. Three full line brands are being consolidated into one sales channel, leaving GM with what actually amounts to one brand in the old sense of the term. 7. marginal dealerships are being phased out. 8. each year the products become more brand - focused. The results? 1. Quality is up 2. production costs are down 3. production efficiency has matched Toyota 4. Reviews of product and the business itself are much more positive. 5.Awards and top rankings in surveys are coming one after the other. 6. GM as a corporation is *gasp* profitable 7. GM has large cash reserves 8. GM has a good bargaining position with the UAW for the first time in forever. 9. Overseas, GM is doing very well in expanding markets 10. Global product development is making so much more possible at a profit Talk of killing brands is pure foolishness. GM has a plan and it is working. What we should be doing here is deciding what these brands should be rather than planning their demise. I see the state of both Buick and Pontiac as an opportunity to truly define what each brand means and tailor cars to that image. Now that these two are no longer saddled with being all things to all people, they can be themselves again. The G8 and the Park Avenue are good places to start, and the end of the dreadful W-bodies signals a change for the better. One final note: LA is not the nation.
  20. This situation is quite different from the Olds situation. The grouping of Buick, Pontiac, and GMC is an alternative to killing brands. GM has found a better way to deal with the situation than they did for Olds. Everyone needs to wrap their heads around the reality of B-P-G and think of the three as one. That's where the answer lies.
  21. You are so far off base that I don't know where to begin. The "Monaro GTO", as you so quaintly refer to it, has nothing whatsoever to do with the upcoming Camaro. GM still sells about the same number of cars as they have for years, market share does not equal units sold. You seem to have missed about six months' worth of positive news concerning GM. Killing brands will only hurt GM, not help it. Those brands are, in fact, one of GM's strengths. Have they utilized them as well as they could? No, but progress is being made.
  22. Pontiac isn't going away - period.
