  1. Except for the two "garage monsters"
  2. It was just a 5 minute setup. I have some pics from other angles that work better spacing-wise. It also looks better as a full-size pic. As for the res, I have to figure that out (so far no luck). BTW: This is my backyard.
  3. Side profile: Excellent, clean and upscale looking. Front: swing and a (near) miss. Terrible looking headlights, one too many openings, protruding nose Rear: swing and a clear miss. Looks like a Buick not a Chevy and doesn't fit the rest of the design. Interior: Outstanding: best aspect of the car visually.
  4. This is a Kodak Z710 and I can't even find any mention of resolution settings in the rather thin manual. My broken HP came with a freakin novel for a manual.
  5. I'm trying out a new camera that was a Christmas gift and I can't figure out how to set the res on it.
  6. Not until they all get a bath. :AH-HA_wink:
  7. I wanted to get this shot while I still can.
  8. Add 4k and it's yours. ( Less than half of what I have in it)
  9. What a great way of looking at the situation - thanks for that.
  10. Financial necessity and frustration with the status quo. I need to make some changes and I'm feeling cornered, which makes me nuts.
  11. You remember how many tools are in my garage, right? I think I could pare all of that down quite a bit. I'm feeling limited in my choices simply because I have so much stuff that would have to move with me if I were to move. Hell, even those industrial shelves are mine. Next to nothing in that barn belongs to anyone else. As far as keeping one of the Hawks goes: It might be possible if the other cars go.
  12. I won't be using Ebay for the cars. There is a collector car auction in Atlantic City in February and that would be where I would auction the cars.
  13. Such as : Using "no-reserve" auctions to sell off the fleet A change of occupation Re-location Having just one vehicle for a while Selling off my garage full of tools and equiptment Other radical notions are crossing my mind as well.
  14. Interesting use of the word "pencil".
  15. I've only ever seen the shield on trucks where the tank(s) was (were) exposed (flatbeds, dump trucks etc.). It was more like a cage around the tank than a shield. When that class-action suit was settled I received two 1k certificates which I used in purchasing new GM products. I felt a little guilty, but not guilty enough not to use the thousand bucks. I don't believe that the cage/shield was ever offered to owners of the trucks as I would have been notified by GM.
  16. Maybe. But, I've seen plenty of smashed ones and none that burned. I have owned at least six trucks with those tanks and still own one today - not worried in the least.
  17. Bloody gadget-pansies!
  18. I'm surprised at you,Croc. Those tanks aren't the risk the hype would have you believe, they did rot out though. I watched an '86GMC with a full tank get slammed directly in the side at the fuel fill by a car going about 40-45mph and it didn't even leak let alone blow-up. The bedside was so caved-in that you could see the shape of the tank behind it.
  19. Good buy!
  20. My feelings exactly.

  22. Increased taxes are a very bad idea for a number of reasons, especially in a nation like the US. Ultimately, the solution lies elsewhere. Viable alternative fuels as well as a diversification in the types of fuels used would have a greater impact than taxes or requirements foisted upon the manufacturers. We simply have to stop wringing our hands about how "impossible" it is to create an infrastructure to distribute these fuels and do it already.
  23. The market for true antiques is way down, so if you love this era car, now is a good time to buy one. I see all collector cars as going through cycles in value with the peak coming when the people who admired the car as youngsters are at their most financially secure. For example, the musclecars of the '60s and early '70s are at peak right now because Boomers have the cash and the desire to buy them. I see their prices stabilizing over the next 10 years and then declining at a slow, steady rate thereafter. Cars of the '50s and back (with a few exceptions) have already begun this decline in value.
  24. The concept of credits should be tossed in the crapper along with the concept of corporate AVERAGE fuel economy standards. If we are to have standards at all, they should be set for each class of vehicle across the board. Let's quit the social engineering attempt and just set standards ALL manufacturers must meet. A level playing field. The idea of tax credits for consumers who choose fuel-efficient models (in each segment) as well as those powered by alternative fuels does make sense to me. Let's not restrict choice, just reward choices that have a fuel conservation/environmental impact benefit to all.
  25. "Cheers and Jeers" is an established tradition here and its return is most welcome. Any official C&G "of the year" comparisons will be initiated by the staff. This "Chop of the year" idea is a good one, however it should take place in the chopping competition forum and be initiated by staff with rules spelled out for nomination as well as voting. The staff of C&G hasn't yet discussed this idea nor endorsed it. So, having a bit of fun with it here in the lounge is no big thing, but hardly official.
