  1. 1991 Mercury Topas GS. Great car if you dont like getting where you're going.
  2. So Exciting! Sounds almost too good to be true.. My Chevrolet wrist watch arrived at FedEx today.. Coincidence?
  3. ..hmm, probably gonna spend some time with my pontiacs... The G5, and the Grand Am.. Shine up some tires, cruze through the streets of the park.. Might take the Aveo for a little road trip into Montana... havent really made my mind up yet.. Busy with flying this month though.
  4. I thought it was designed by GMDAT?.. Cavalier's name was overworked and no longer lusted after. Monza reminds me of cheese. Nova would be great! We had that up here.. The Pontiac Acadian.. LOL!
  5. Oh wow, mee too.. it was an ugly silver color though.. Pulled away from me in the G5 like we weren't even moving. I also saw a pearly colored Soul, and a new Genesis.. Hyundai/Kia seems to be doing really well up here..
  6. I would have at least demanded better by 1999, not 2004.
  7. Very valid point. Very Valid. GM was indeed brilliant for setting this brand up -- from a short term finanical stand point. I personally dislike the brand because it did only two things for GM. 1) Made money for about a decade. (this is a good thing) 2) Destroyed their Image on economy/environment more so than the Suburban ever could. (this is a bad thing) IMO, the latter far outweighs the other- Perhaps without hummer, we would have seen alot better products in other areas, like better Hybrid platforms and Electric drivetrains. I dont think GM would be in the mess they are today if they hadn't handed whatever little bit of environmentally friendly image they had to Toyota on a silver platter. All that being said, You are very wise to point that out.
  8. I wouldn't have killed the EV1.. Burn in hell, Hummer.
  9. oh trust me, I cant make a smooth surface with a brush.. the airbrush is something I was always too lazy to hook up..

    Pictures!

    Me and my Chevywoo.
  11. whoa, looks excellent!! I once did an Avro Lancaster, painted it by hand.. It turned out well but it was from new..
  12. My then girlfriend plowed it into a concrete median at highway speed, nearly killing both of us. It is what really made me love GM, for building a car that saved my life. I had been a fan of GM my whole life, but that moment changed everything.
  13. The IDEA (imho) will save GM's "green" image, but as you said.. ONLY ONLY ONLY if it is PERFECT! I could'nt agree with your point more. Perhaps I was too giddy when I said the ONLY problem was that they cant build them fast enough.. when infact, there are alot more problems.. 1) It has to be reliable (works every time, and the batteries last a long time) 2) It has to be powerful (approaching hills, raw speed, and take-off have to have oomph) 3) It has to be efficient (Beat the street on that range number), and finally... 4) The Idiot public has to buy in, rather than go out and buy more stupid priuses.
  14. Energize GM!! I for one think this car will save them. Be it by perception of green-car ability or by perception of their engineering excellence. The only problem is that they can't build them fast enough!
  15. well it was!!! I have the pictures to prove it!!
  16. Well, I figured if I'm gonna get any good at this "blogging" thing, I'd better participate.. So here goes!! This is my 2004 Chevro..Daew... uh,... Chevwoo?.. Chevywoo? HUH?.. Ave?.. Kal?.. Whaa?? Avkaloseo? Ok, cut to the chase. My 2004 Chevy Aveo 5 door. This car was essentially salvage. It was not totalled however. The chick who owned it was DUI, and smashed the daylights out of it in a drunken escapade. She was esentially playing chicken with an Escalade and lost big time. The car would have been fixed by insurance, but her claim was obviously denied due to obvious blood alchohol level, so the bupyoung button sat for three years until it could be rescued. After we bought it, the car was completely fixed. Inside and out, infact we even took it to be inspected and the guy was blown away that it was ever in an accident. They did a truly EXCELLENT job. I have finally found a replacement for my beloved Cavalier. now for the pics! enjoy!
  17. I'd like to take in some suggestions on how to go ELECTRIC, on a project car. Here's what I am dying to know... 1. A basic Idea of HOW. 2. What to make my Electric car out of, I have seen Saturns converted.. What would you do? So far I am thinking that I should buy a ready-made conversion kit, and build it into a 2-dr cavalier. The car can be dressed up pretty well, and if it is an EcoTec powered car, I should be able to get some of the funds to do the swap from selling the powertrain. Any ideas of sites I could go to, I need to know more about what to do and how. Thanks in advance for your tips!
  18. Pack it really well with bubble wrap in a wide box. Put something around any loose spaces. I work in the airline industry, and have seen my share of accidents caused by poor packing. Bubble wrap, Lots of styrofoam bracing, and a strong box. Enough Said.
  19. I dont blame toyota for anything other that their ugly-ass cars. They all look like they were really nice cars sculpted from butter, then microwaved for about thirty seconds. The melting look is really "in" apparently. As for GM, its about time they finally owned up for cars like the Cavalier and Grand Am, cars I loved- but cars that were decades behind the competition and full of hard plastic and jagged edges inside, finished off with ill fitting trim panels.. with "swooping" padded dashes. Its time that they formally appologise for those vehicles and pump a few cruzes and volts out onto the road. We need a new GM, a GM that is struggling to scratch itself out of the coffin and get back behind the automotive industry's wheel. The Cruze is a fine example of this. An absolutely gorgeous small car that gets great mileage and is full of great interior features. The Volt is a fine example too, a really crisp looking economical and environmentally friendly vehicle that WILL change all of this. We need to give the General another chance, because (at least to all of us) they have proven to be able to produce some beautiful and excellent vehicles. They are still behind the game. Management needs to wake up, smell the coffee and realize that things wont get better until they change. Speed up production of the cruze. Its already built in S. Korea- why not import it until Lordstown can learn how to build it? Same car, cheaper labor. Perhaps this idea has failed only because of the same reason American automobiles have failed in general. The UAW. The UAW is the only thing that makes me want GM to fail. If they go CH7, they can re-organize, get new funding and ditch the UAW all togehter. That is toyota's advanatage.. they dont have to go thru them. I work for a non-union company, It is properly managed, employees get treated great and feel appreciated, and it is the one of the only companies like it that isnt currently failing. Gee, I wonder why. If GM reorganised smartly this would all get better really fast. Proudly
