Yeah, heard its a real dog. Ba-Bump Ching!

Me either... if I buy Ethanol, I don't want it watered down. Pipelines are notorious for water contamination, and ethanol just sucks the water right in.

Agreed... my little garage was REALLY dismal... so I bought 4 of those HUGE CFL spiral bulbs and three screw in splitters... so I have 400 watts of brightness in one socket (only using about 120W). Its really bright... once it warms up, you really can't look at the cluster. At the house at the shore, I really would love to demo the garage, as it sticks out in the front... then I would raise the house and move it forward to the setback... then use the space under the house as a basement/garage with break away walls, just in case the ocean ever visits. Since I would not want to lose my tools, I thought I could get a small container and keep all my tools in there... like a gigantic tool box, that I could close up and pull onto a rollback at a moment's notice. ;-)

Looks good. Why not flip the Gas and Volt gauges? I'm sure ones designed to be needle down could be found.

How about a few hunderd dollars of fiberglass insulation and Great Stuff ? I see _way_ too much daylight in there...

In the SS I agree. In the LS, I was not as impressed... a lot panels felt cheap and didn't fit or look good. I would have rather seen the poorly fitting panels wrapped in a cloth, rather than just being gray plastic. As far as reaching around, for me, once in the car, I'm so far reclined and back that I can reach all the controls with my gorilla arms, but I'm not sure I could reach something on top of the dash. If I had a passenger, I would be elbowing them in the face every time I reached into the back seat, as well. ;-)

Thats some of the funniest stuff I've seen in a while. Thanks.

But its not standard... only on the SS or the higer level trims, I forget which and I've heard conflicting claims. Of course, I have always felt if you can't park it, you shouldn't have bought it. While I did not actually drive the car, I felt visibility was decent... of course, I'm used to older cars and windowless delivery trucks and mobile homes... because I drive everything that doesn't require a CDL. ;-) Olds, is the uplevel Camaro radio in color? I played with two cars, but the SS had the battery disconnected. I was disappointed in the eye-searing orange LS because the radio had a monochrome type display, or at least it seemed that way.

While driving down Street Road in Feasterville, Pa, we had a bright yellow De Tomaso Pantera... Sounded good and it was pretty quick in traffic. I barely got this shot through the dirty window...

Of sorry... I was reading/thinking that wrong... Yeah, with the back seat UP, the Mini wins both ways. The trunk is pretty deep... its also perfectly flat. I started to look under the carpet but the dealership had a bunch of crap set up nicely "on display" and the guy was getting antsy, so I didn't explore further. Seriously, if I was gainfully employed, I probably would have had them put the car on the lift for a fuller inspection. I will admit, I'll be revisiting the situation when the convertible comes out... it will fix alot of the ergonomic problems... and unless a top brace is right above my head, I'm sure it will be more comfortable with the top up. Of course, knowing GM, the convert will not be available with the Z28 (If it sees the light of day) or my preferred color (Imperial Blue). On a side note, I had complained elsewhere that I was not happy with the backup system being standard... I don't like the ugly 4 rivets in the rear bumper/fascia... but on the Imperial Blue and the Black, they are not too obvious, which I like.

Well, I don't usually have more than 1 person in my car, so back seats are not real high up on my needs... Sure, if some kids fit back there, or an adult for a short trip, fine. What irks me, however, it that _I_ can sit in the back of a '69 F-body. Its not particularly comfortable, but I could do it. Why have we lost this "technology" 40 years later when designing a larger, heavier car?!? The original was 4 inches shorter, 1.5 inches narrower and 3 inches lower! GM really dropped the ball here in terms of ergonomics. Square footage I would give the Camaro the win... but in terms of usefulness, the Mini would win. I was surprised the size of the "trunk hole", in photos it looked small... in Real Life, I could see most objects fitting into it... but nothing super large. No bikes, big screen TVs... the Mini could handle that stuff with the hatch open.

So, I was cruising past a Chevy dealership, and look at that... they got a TON of Camaros... including two in Imperial Blue and a Transformers edition Yellow. Well, I have some time... let kick some tires. So stopped in and got an eyeful... but in the end, I'm really disappointed. I didn't drive it, but sitting in one and giving it a serious pretend "ride", I don't think I could live with the new Camaro. It's too hard to get into, and out of... Its awkward getting in since I have to wrap my right leg under and around the steering wheel to avoid banging my knee into the steering column as I fall in. Falling into the seat, my head hits the roof... BAD. Then, even with the door open as wide as possible, My left leg doesn't clear the door jam... I had to pull my leg up so high, and bend it kinda badly to wedge under the wheel. My head hits the roof, unless I virtually tilt the seat ALL the way back. There is no back seat with me in the car. To be honest, the rear seat is so distant with the door open, I wonder if its even useable as a package shelf. Shutting the door, the car is pretty claustrophobic. I don't mind the visibility... I've driven plenty of cars with large A or C pillars... with high dashboards or door sills... no problem. Its the roof... the side windows are SO short, I doubt a bladderbuster drink would fit without opening the door while going through a drive thru. IF I was skinny as a rail (I'm not) I couldn't Dukes of Hazzard it into the side window. Worse, since my head is rubbing the roof, the side windows end at my eye level. Edit: I'm 6'4", with a long torso. I'm pretty big, but I don't feel my girth was the trouble fitting in the car. I may still get one eventually, but I was really disappointed by the ergonomics. I had hoped the car would be more like the 1st gen in ergonomics... Its not even close. In the end, while not actually planning on buying anything, it looks like I might end up with a '08 Torrent GXP in the family, due to this diversion. Yikes!

Hmmm... the '99 Bonne is staying pretty rattle-free at 212K. The biggest noise seems to come from the bottle of Ibuprofin... or the CDs in the console... or the power tools in my trunk flying around. My real noises come from the driver's door weatherstripping wearing out and the power steering whine... things I intend to fix.

Cars don't survive in driveable condition from a 4 foot drop, let alone a Dukes of Hazzard spectatular, and I would think a Corsica would be especially weak. I've watched the video a few years ago... it is strange, but must have an explanation.

It was not inspired by production AMC or Renault cars... The most dedicated core of AMC engineers and stylists stuck together and survived the parting out of AMC... landing on the LH project before later being dispersed about the company. Chrysler didn't go from super stretched K-car LeBarons to the LH cars without a serious infusion of talent. Not only that, but Chrysler learned quite a bit of efficiancies from AMC. And don't sell the AMC styling folks short... GM likes to lament the "no money" BS, but AMC lived the "no money" shoie string budget for nearly 20 years... and the best stuff never saw the light of a dealership.

Big deal, a few more plugs, valves, pistons and main bearings... all stuff designed to last a long time with minimal upkeep. Turbos... they get extremely hot, spin at excessive speeds and require special cooling and lubrication. Plus you need to replumb the exhaust and intake to make engine access a bear. Turbos have a long history of coking up, destroying bearings, grenading, and even ones working properly have lag. BMW has the bangle-butt, why can't Cadillac... you can apply that to anything. BMW has a N-S drivetrain and real RWD, why can't the big Caddy? For some reason, I don't think granpa is going to care much for the way a DI 3.6 twin turbo in a 4400 lb Caddy is going to spin the front wheels and torque the car into the next lane.
-
Twin turbo V6 sounds expensive and a hassle to maintain. I'd take a supercharged V6... but I'm sorry... when I want power... I want it now... less than a tenth of a second. Turbos lag, and aren't for me. IMHO, most normal GM stuff has too much fuel injector lag, let alone turbo lag. I haven't seen the power graphs for this twin turbo'd V6, but I doubt it really passes the "area under the line" test. I don't want to have to drive my car like I stole it just to keep up with a decade old supercharged Grand Prix. Color me skeptical.

The Haiti and the Carribean fault system are pretty far from Florida. The real threat here is tidal waves... but thankfully, that didn't seem to happen. Otherwise, Cuba, the gulf, Mexico and the SE US coast could be looking at Thailand-type devastation. It is pretty bad devastation, but keep in mind that when the big one happens in San Fran... it will be worse... San Fran REMOVED most building code requirements after the 1906 quake to speed building... and many buildings were build on debris or backfill... with little cross bracing, stuff build between 1906 and 1950s will fall like houses of cards. Pretty scary stuff.

Burnout! Burnout! Burnout! I have not seen enough decent Camaro Burnout pics! Also, this is one I'd REALLY like to see on a lift with lots of drivetrain and suspension photos, as these will be tuner cars for decades.

Floor jack moves these pretty easy. I spun one guy so he was up against a wall.

2010 GMC Granite Concept
SAmadei replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)
There are styling bits I like... but few... like the cut of the rear hatch and the taillights. Overall, it screams Scion xE. Ooo.... you can put a whole mountain bike in there... Yeah... my grandfather had no problem putting my bike in the trunk of his '66 Polara... and you could still carry 6 people. Will storage bragging of the future seem absurd to us now? The new 2034 Accord... you can fit a loaf of bread in it! -
City car... Smart with Hayabusa drivetrain. Country car... LS7 '90s Caprice two door wagon phantom. Off road... International CXT monsterized.
