I shouldn't even be considering this...
GMTruckGuy74 replied to Camino LS6's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
You should take him to that restaurant that we went to when Fly came up for his Buick... the one with the great roastbeef sandwiches. Speaking of that, Camino, you should host a BBQ for C&Gers at your place/barn in conjunction with a local car show... I'm sure that would be a great way to get a bunch of us C&Gers together. I'd be willing to chip in with the food costs (I don't expect you to have to do it alone), and I'm sure others on here would do the same if they were coming. What do you think?? -
Well, the wife has a 2008 Pontiac G6 V6 sedan that is her daily driver and sees some weekend family duty (she puts on quite a bit of miles just driving to work each week, so it gets a break on the weekends). Since we bought this 11 months ago today and financed it for 6 years, it's going no where for a long time (well, God-willingly!). I drive a 2007 Saturn AURA XE that is a GMAC SmartLease vehicle and is due back to them on November 17. I was originally hoping to get a GMC Sierra as it's replacement (this was two years ago), but the fluctuating and wallet-crushing gas prices killed that. I was then going to get a Pontiac G8 GT sedan, but with my upcoming lay-off and no potential teaching positions available now, plus fluctuating gas prices on the horizon, that plan is being shelved. Realistically a small car that's equipped with a 4-cylinder engine is what's affordable to me right now, but outside of the HHR (which I'm still not 100% happy with) I'm not a small-car kind of guy. While the wife really likes the Pontiac Vibe GT, I can't bring myself to buy that and have it in my garage (a personal choice). So at this point I don't know what will replace the AURA come November (or earlier, if a decent pull-ahead program is offered to me). I am thinking of going used though if I hold out until November... this way I can save up some money for a down-payment and get something I like in 2010 or 2011.

Sorry, I just posted a picture of the robot from the commercial for right now. I'm at work and everything is blocked by my school district, especially YouTube. When I get home later I will be sure to post a link to the commerical.

Not only did you get the G8 GXP, but you also got a Solstice Targa GXP too??? Where was this posted? Or is that the point - it wasn't posted (at least pictures)? BTW PCS - :useless:

"I WANT TASTE BUDS!" Okay, so who else out there finds this commercial hilarious? I can't be the only one. My 3 year old does a great impression of the robot too... but I think that's just him being a normal 3 year old anyway (if you have small children at home, you'll know what I mean by that).

Calling all C&Ger's who are Crazy for Cadillac

Coming up very soon.... All-GM Nationals show at Carlisle Fairgrounds, June 26-28, 2009: http://www.carlisleevents.com/ce/events/gm-nationals/ -
Yeah, I know Camino... just wishing that wagon was available here now though.

I *attempted* to build some model kits in the very early '90s when I was a young teenager, but just couldn't do it very well. By the mid-'90s, I found someone in Texas that built model kits for me (still have one of the three I paid to have built). Over the years I have picked up model kits of vehicles that weren't made in diecast, hoping one day to find someone again that can build them for me. The latest purchase, a little over a year ago, was for some resin '55-'57 GMC truck parts to convert an AMT/ERTL '55 or '57 Chevy stepside or Cameo into a similar GMC model. I don't know where to look, though I'd like to find someone local (is there a web site devoted to model car clubs available??).

Congratulations on buying such a wonderful car. Glad to see you saw the 'light'!! This is a strange thing to see listed, and if it puzzles you then I wonder how we'll ever find out what it means??

2010 Model Year Chevrolet Trucks Changes and New Features

... anyway... gm4life, I would consider the Malibu, but the ones I like are very close in price to the G8 V6 Sedan, and I'd much rather have the Pontiac, even if I had to cough up an extra grand or forgoe the leather-trimmed interior to get it. Not that the Malibu isn't nice, but having seen the new 2010 Buick LaCrosse twice now, and the fact that my wife really loves it, if I had to get another Epsilon-based car I'd want to try for the Buick instead of the Chevy. Though a neighbor of mine has a really nice looking Malibu 2LT with the V6 Performance Package that I look at every day I'm at the point now that I will be patient and see what happens in June with GMAC and if they include November leases in the pull-ahead program. Right now the program allows only TWO payments to be waived, and with five remaining (just made #6 last week), that's not enough to make me do anything (at the end of April for one week, they waived 5 payments). I have a feeling that if no changes are made for June, then something has to happen for the July 4th sales weekend. GM has way too many 2009 models sitting around, so they're going to have to do something to make cars/trucks start selling. I decided I will check into a G8 V6 and see what deals will be made. If that falls through though, I don't know what else I will consider.

Since Pontiac wasn't allowed to bring this over to North America, can Buick do it instead?
-
Okay, I know this is LAPD, but if it works for them, why couldn't CHIPs have them too?

dfelt, go for it! These trucks are becoming harder to find, especially in such great shape. The shape that '94 Yukon is in can't be beat, and while not my favorite color combo (I'd rather have the silver in the middle and the maroon on the upper & lower portions), it makes for a unique truck. The price is a little high IMO, but it does look like a well-cared for truck that hasn't been molested (no afternarket radio, no aftermarket alarm system installed, etc) and has modern GMC rims on it ('03-'06 Sierra aluminum rims). Keep us posted! -
- hope you had a great one!!

Thanks for the info and advice gm4life. I've decided to hold off on this Bonneville, even though it does seem like a great find. I would need atleast a 36 month loan to get it, and then when that's paid off I'll have a 12 year old car. Since I don't know where I'll be finding employment after July 1st (right now I have a 14-mile roundtrip commute), I don't want to buy something older that may see an increase in my daily driving mileage and then put me in a position where repairs will *pop* up. I just have to find a little more patience to wait until GMAC offers me a pull-ahead program and see what 'new' vehicles I can afford, or wait until November when the lease is officially up, and hopefully with new employment, see what I can afford then. As for the last generation GPs, the only ones I like to an extent would be the GXP model, and even then I still have some issues with this gen's design/styling. The local CarSense dealership does have a blue 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP listed for sale, and I may go see it today (Sunday shopping) just for $hit$ and giggles.

Well you finally got your 5-speed equipped 2-door Blazer. Congrats!!! I would say I'm jealous to, and to a degree I am, but would be more so if it was a GMC Yukon instead of a Chevy Blazer! -
2010 GMC Terrain revealed
GMTruckGuy74 replied to BigPontiac's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
I still believe that the Acadia was supposed to be a Pontiac until the very last minute, and the only thing changed was the grille. Red interior lighting, the taillamp design, and some other styling features of the Acadia say "Pontiac" to me. I wish some insider would confirm this for me, and it would be great if there were pictures to back it up too. -
Yeah, I am naturally a patient person but when it comes to cars I sometimes lack enough patience to continue to hold out until the right time You make total sense and I have been looking at this car for two months without going crazy. And while I love Bonneville SSEi's of this generation, buying a nine-year old car and financing it for 3 more years doesn't make the best financial sense (especially since I'd be low on emergency cash in case repairs pop up too). What usually helps when I find a vehicle I like but can't get is by going and seeing it in person (on Sundays) and taking some pictures. But with the Internet and searching outside of a short-distance drive, like with this Bonneville, it makes it hard to satisfy that curiousity. I guess posting about it here and having people tell me to pass has been the best medicine. However, if the price was much lower and I had the cash to buy it outright, I think I'd be driving an SSEi about now :AH-HA_wink: Thanks for the advice Z-06

I'd need to take a 36 month loan in order to be able to afford it. Financing a car that is 9 years old and being 12 when it's paid off doesn't sit right. Downside is the price at this point (the reason I haven't pursued it any further) - they're asking $9,500 for it Some online pricing research shows that it should be retailing for $7500, on average. I'm wondering if they put some additional reconditioning money into and are trying to recoup it through teh selling price. I haven't found any comparable SSEi models, but I did find a 2002 SLE model that is well equipped and has 80K and it was selling for $7,500. Of course the SLE lacks the supercharged engine, some SSEi-specific options (like HUD), has 10k more miles, but is 2 years newer. I like the SLE model, but prefer the SSEi more and would rather have that. Of course if I wanted to spend more money per month, I have found a couple of 2005 Bonneville GXP models (man I'd love a V8-powered Bonneville!! ).

It has a 99 day/3300 mile warranty against powertrain failure. Nothing too great, I know, and one reason why I'm cautious about buying it.

Thanks for posting all of those wonderful Pontiac pictures ocnblu... I especially like the '77/'78 Trans Am S/E and the '64 station wagon. However, all of the pictures/cars are great looking.
