I would have said TSX but when I thought about it, the reviews have been so negative (with ride/handling), I bumped up to something positive, the TL.

The chop is hot. I don't see why this car with maybe a 2.8L turbo or DI 3.6L V6 couldn't compete with maybe a TL. The new TL in my opinion is horrendous looking but from what I read, it is an awesome drive. I hear the same about this but I don't seem to gag when I look at the pictures.

Yeah, curses in Italian are more interchangeable than English. You really don't have a specific word meaning a specific bad thing. The "F" word can sometimes mean the "s" word or "d" word, etc., depending on how they're used. An example of this is if you rent "l'ultimo bacio" (the last kiss). Cazzo and minchia mean pretty much every bad thing you can say in English LOL

What's amazing is, when you think about the definition of "questione", it's almost borderline with "discorso" or "argomento". Now, I have a good understanding of how to use all these words but what kills me is when that little subtle difference doesn't translate over to Spanish (since I'm studying it). I still screw up putting the subject pronoun after the verb for emphasis since you can do it in Italian but not Spanish. (Per esempio: Chi vuole scrivere sulla lavagna? Nessuno? Va bene, scrivo io!) I have no Sicilian practice since my grandmother passed in 1997. My dad won't speak it (even though it's his first language). Once in a blue moon it comes out when I say something to the kids, like "vini ca". Knowing a few words in it definitely did help when I was studying French years ago... Italian: lavorare; Sicilian: travagliare; French: travailler. Knowing a difference like that helped me recognize "work" when studying French. I'm not sure about "spedire"... don't forget you can say "spedisce i pompieri al fuoco." Okay, enough language chatter for me tonight. I need to wind down so I can actually sleep tonight.

I do too. Students have a little prob with Italian grammar though--drives them nuts :AH-HA_wink: Hell, seven definite articles would annoy anyone trying to learn the language! lol

Haha... thanks for your help... I think you're wrong on the "different" ones though "Due libri diversi" - two different books. Diversi seems to be the more common usage--maybe differente is broader.

Alright, simply put, there are some words in Italian that have the same meaning in English when translated, but have a secondary subtle underlying meaning. There are a couple of instances I've been unable to find rules for. An example of what I mean: questione domanda Both mean: question. Questione is a question or a topic brought up for discussion/debate/argument. Domanda is simply a question in general. spedire mandare Both mean: to send. What's the difference? differente diverse Both mean: different. What's the difference? Weird thing is, I can use them properly and somehow know which one goes where. But I do not know the rules. Little help?

Ah, so my 1987 Sundance was so ahead of its time... I once was leaving the car and knocked my bag into the floorshift and it dropped into neutral as there was no lock on it. Fortunately I was on fairly level ground and it didn't roll more than a couple of inches.

I'm just confused... Buick has traditionally used French or English words for their vehicle names, no? So, why verano? I'd say put that in French but then it becomes l'été and that's not going to happen. I'd love to see Rendezvous used for the baby Enclave. It had a lot of followers and was smaller than the Enclave is, so I don't see why they wouldn't use it. The compact, well, something better than verano.

I finally signed up for an account a couple of weeks ago and have yet to use it. I just can't see myself using it honestly. To me, I get a similar result from Facebook, so I wouldn't repeat it. I understand how people can be addicted to it, but it's just not working for me.

Well, I simply wrote in script... I didn't teach it or have examples of it in the classroom. I write in print now, because some students can't read script easily and I don't have the time to decipher it for them. My numerals though, are as they write in Italy. It gets the students used to seeing them because when they take state tests, they'll see it written so and not be confused why a "7" or a "0" have lines through them, or the "1" has a small hook on top.

What is "teacher's handwriting"? I have draftsmanlike printing as well--probably because my father was a draftsman and I almost went that route early on, so he always impressed how important neat penmanship was. As for European script, I've fought it. I show my students what it looks like, but other than that, I don't write like it. And yes, I mention penmanship is important in Italy and is a sign of a good background.

It's so sad but true... I had a kid sign his name on the state test... he had to cross his name out twice and rewrite it because he wrote it wrong. Students handwriting in general is atrocious. I can't write in cursive on the blackboard because some can't read it, and I have beautiful handwriting. I was one of those anal guys (shut up) who always had awesome handwriting, but that's partly because my parents were so strict about it. I was surprised when I returned to school for my Spanish certification, when I started taking notes I wrote in script... when I did my undergrad and masters, like Nick I wrote in all caps.
