Or just use normal door handles instead of gimmicky garbage.

I do see ice as a potential problem, is it is on Teslas with their stupid door handles..I've read of them freezing and not popping out. But with any expensive EV, it should be inside in a garage..wouldn't have one if it had to be parked outside.

Ford Brazil bought Willys Brazil in the late 60s. In the early 80s they were building CJ-5s w/ the Ford 2.3 Lima 4cyl. Built them through 1983. I knew about the Willys Jeep wagon-based Ford Rural, but not this..learn something every day. Note the tiny Ford blue oval emblem below the stamped Jeep badge on the body.

With EVs a lot of things are moving to phone apps though.(like with the Model 3)...I could see the fob also, though.

Which is why one would drive with it closed..presumably it seals..not really different from how the Bristol had a spare tire compartment on one side and a battery compartment on the other side of the front fenders...

Kia News: Rumorpile: Kia Soul EV Won't Be Coming To the U.S.
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Kia
It is odd...I'd assume the EV bits of the Soul were the same as the Kona? They are on the same platform, I think... Or maybe they want to focus on the Niro EV. -
Hopefully power and controlled by a phone app...that would be slick.

Thinking about the music I loved at age 20...then realizing that was 30 years ago... makes me feel old.

Probably EST since Detroit is in EST. Didn't GM do something like this before with a reveal announcement, a time without a timezone?

Industry News: Average Age of Cars in the U.S. Climbs Again
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
With work from home and self quarantining, I've managed to put less than 100 miles on my Jeep in the last 6 months. I assume the next 6 months will be the same. -
Way cool... the huge bank I worked for 10 years ago was named the worst company in America at least once I think. The small consulting firm I worked for in the mid 10s was ranked the best small company to work for in Arizona a couple of times..was a really good place.

Sounds like a fun project getting it road worthy again. Does it have much in the way of rust?
-
I wonder if it will start under $100k?

I've never really had a need for a truck, but I understand why so many people buy them.- 94 replies

Yeah, I don't think I'd buy the first year of a new model or new generation. Many vehicles historically have had improvements the 2nd model year to take care of shortcomings of the first year. I'm probably going to be looking for what's next in about 4 years, when my current Jeep is at 10 yrs/100k miles. Though I still haven't gotten to 50k miles yet.

I remember Ohio back in the late 70s-early 80s having State Police checkpoints set up randomly where they would flag people over to the side of the road and check their tires, lights, wipers, etc. Had 'Inspection Stations' signs IIRC... I wonder if any states do stuff like that anymore. I remember my goofy older brother complaining about them because he drove '60s-70s rust buckets then that always had something wrong..- 94 replies

No, nothing like that...only emissions tests every two years for vehicles going back to '96..and mostly just a check of the codes, gas cap test. As I said, a lot of rusty stuff still on the roads around here..I remember 40 years ago as a kid Ohio having safety inspections, but that's long gone..- 94 replies

Some salty states have annual inspections---like Pennsylvania. Others, like Ohio, have no inspections. So lots of rusty chud on the roads here.- 94 replies

Bolt is taller inside than the Continental, I would think...the Bolt is a very upright box. -

Back on topic, how about the 2020 TRD Pro? I like the shade of green and how the model name is embossed on the rear fenders rather than a decal... I like the front end, simple and relative clean, not as busy and overwrought as many trucks are today.- 94 replies
