  1. I like the Brosnan movies... I like some of the Craig movies... the last one was weak and way too long, and didn't like the ending...Sceptre seemed a repeat of past formula. Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall are all quite good, IMO. I never really liked Craig in that role, rather taciturn and no wit or bit of humor that past Bond incarnations had. For a modern Bond, I'd rather have seen Clive Owen, maybe James Purefoy or Dougray Scott (a Scotsman like Connery) in the role.. For modern Bond-ish films, I've really liked Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible films (even w/ their BMWs). I liked the first Timothy Dalton Bond movie over the 2nd one. George Lazenby was very wooden as a Bond (his first acting role, he had been a hand model in Australia), but his one outing was a fun movie w/ great Swiss Alps scenery, a gorgeous '69 Cougar convertible and Diana Rigg..I grew up on the Sean Connery and Roger Moore films, so love most of them (though Moonraker was too absurd). As far as CGI, CGI can't make up for a weak story..which seems to happen all too often today. Terminator 2 holds up really well, IMO..it had a good story and great pacing, suspense and cinematography...still remember enjoying in the theatre back in the day. For good recent movies w/ little or no CGI, I watched a drama the other evening I hadn't heard of called 'City of Lies'... Johnny Depp and Laurence Fishburne were excellent, a drama about the aftermath of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur's murders and the LAPD investigation and Death Row records... interesting reality-based story..
  2. And it's just a Kia..not a premium brand...that's a lot to pay for a brand with such a poor image.
  3. Interior looks nice...exterior quite ugly, and white w/ black trim so passe...
  4. ^ is that Drew's Toronado? Sharp car. Had a 250 mile round trip down to Zanesville, Ohio yesterday, did see a very clean early 80s Caprice--white 4dr w/ dark blue interior--on I-77.
  5. I've seen one TB SS in the last 6+ years here in NE Ohio...a battered rust bucket, still on the road. Maybe one of a dozen GMT-360s of any trim I've seen in that time period..compared to Explorers and Grand Cherokees of that era of which there are still many on the road..here in NE Ohio where domestics are still pretty common, the GMT-360s seem to have all rusted away.
  6. The concept is definitely an improvement over the overwrought grilles.. not sure about the lighting..maybe quad round lights paired with the smaller grille would be better..
  7. Yeah, he's been gone over a year..I miss his posts..I guess we scared him off.
  8. I loathe parallel parking and generally avoid it because of my astigmatism (hard to judge how far from the curb), but at my old house when I had to park on the street I'd occasionally rub the rim against the curb. Not at issue w/ my new house--driveway is so huge I could probably park 20 cars in it and no curbs in sight...
  9. Yes...beep beep proximity sensors have taken their place.
  10. I miss the variety of body styles and models that were available in the 80s-90s. All sorts of 2drs, convertibles, wagons, full size cars…I remember wandering around dealerships 30-40 years ago clearly…
  11. I'm thinking I should get something like a Generac installed generator. I have a gas powered portable that I can run my refrigerator off of.
  12. There is nothing like that... just a list of 3 options: Header says 'SEND AS' with 3 choices: Automatic PDF Web Archive I'll just stick to visiting the site on my laptop or tablet. With all the ads it's pretty much unusable on a phone.
  13. Ok, I see that. I tried it. I get a menu with 3 options. Save as archive, pdf, or web archive. No ‘add to homescreen’ or anything like that.
  14. I've tried the instructions a couple of times, and can't find it. There is no 'share icon' at the bottom of the screen as referred to in the instructions. One thing I have noticed lately on my iPhone in Safari that even when I'm logged into the site it's covered in ads...
  15. It is sharp looking..the funky C-pillar trim has grown on me.
  16. They could have done an Acadia and an Acadia XL like they do with the Yukon. (I'd like to see someone use the 'Big' and 'Bigger' naming).
  17. I get the appeal of CUVs compared to sedans, though. I prefer sedans and SUVs, but a CUV is low to the ground like a sedan, higher H-point so they are easy to get in and out of, more headroom, more cargo room than a sedan without the stigma of a minivan or heft of an SUV.. for example, comparing my sister's Equinox to a simiarly priced Malibu, it's more practical for her use case...easy to get in and out of, easy to drive around town, room to pack up 3 months worth of stuff when snowbirding in the winter. I don't want a CUV, but I understand why the general public like them--they are very practical vehicles.
  18. Happy Birthday @A Horse With No Name
  19. I like those also. I have a fondness for so many cars from the 80s.
  20. I kinda want an '80s IROC-Z w/ t-tops to go w/ my 5.0..
  21. The new car market looks bleak to me...EVs don't appeal to me, I don't want a CUV, maybe another SUV eventually (another Grand Cherokee), I have no interest in trucks. I still have my vintage Mustangs, getting restored now, but they are weekend toys I won't drive very much. I'm thinking a CPO Cadillac sedan or Chrysler 300 might be my next primary vehicle (save the Jeep for winter). More interested in spending on real estate..upgrades to my new house, maybe eventually a lake house somewhere in NE Ohio or a winter getaway home in SC..
  22. Malibu is in it's last year, Fusion is gone...it's crazy, but Ford only has one car left--the Mustang. I guess being in tech I have a warped (jaded?) view of things..my total compensation has almost doubled in the last 3 years and my old house almost doubled in value over 6 years.. inflation partially I'm sure. I can afford a new $60-75k car, but it's hard to justify considering I work out of my house and have no commute.
  23. As far as midsize family sedans, I do like the Malibu and Fusion quite a bit. Drive many as rentals over the years. I could live with a loaded one as a daily if I had a commute. It seems short sighted that GM and Ford have given up on mainstream sedans, as others have done also. Basically given the market to Toyota, Honda and Hyundai and Kia. But I don’t see the obsession with CUVs going away…
  24. I can’t imagine going back to manual windows after decades with power windows. And with any vehicle of sufficient size, can’t reach the passenger side and can’t reach the back windows. Crank windows are best left to the past. I get the appeal of a $25k car, I’d pay cash and not finance something that cheap. But I don’t like decontented or stripper models, I’m old enough I want all the goodies in something of decent size and not a subcompact 4cyl despair-mobile. (I drove an ‘84 Ford Escort diesel with manual windows and AM radio part of the time in college 30+ years ago, not going back to that level of minimalism). I like CPOs, get something 3 years old w/ low mikes at a reduced price. A $60k car for $40k or a $50k suv for $30k. I plan to do that again on my next vehicle.
  25. Haven't been in a Costco in about 20 years...I have a Costco about 5 min from me, will have to check it out sometime..though I so rarely go in stores anymore, usually I do all my shopping from my phone and packages appear at my door. As far as my car, need to take the Jeep to my favorite local full detail car wash...grubby inside and outside from the last few months of moving.
