  1. Realistically competition will probably be upper level Jetta...maybe a3..mkz maybe
  2. Interesting to see talk of a new platform..wonder about the size GM has in mind and possible usage outside Cadillac
  3. Been hot and humid in e Ohio the last few days...then stormy yesterday afternoon...so green here in the hills...nice break from az
  4. That is one strange looking car..was beside a bright blue on in traffic today, w/ a dk red Leaf on the other side of me. I've been seeing a lot of Leafs and Jukes this summer, even a couple NVs and Murano CCs..
  5. Fascinating stuff... I recall an article from a few years ago about a dealership in Cyprus that was closed in '74 when a conflict happened...still in preserved form years later, with new '74 Lancias and Alfas in the garage...
  6. Now that's a first - critics harping on GM not offering a rebadge Well, while the the Regal GS has the OPCs looks, Buick diluted the hardware for the US market (4cyl and FWD instead of V6 and AWD)...
  7. Well, it's like with Corvettes...it's the older guys that can afford to buy expensive toys. Better to see them driving one than some subliterate rapper felon or Justin Beiber.
  8. I wouldn't waste time or money on the dent or the paint or any other cosmetic details. It's the mechanical aspects that count if you want to use it as a reliable driver. (that's how I am w/ my Jeep--only spend money on functional issues---at 11 years/130k miles it's past the point of caring about as far as the cosmetics).
  9. I could see an electric or hybrid version working in cities as well, as part of a green initiative. I've seen tiny Japanese trucks (Diahatsus, etc) used on college campuses, and I've noticed a few w/ city maintenance logos in Scottsdale and downtown Phoenix (which has a fleet of Prii and hybrid Escapes--small electric trucks would fit well w/ their fleet). Not every municipality needs obese gas guzzling full size trucks for every use case.
  10. You are pinning Cadillac's future on the XTS? I don't see an oversized Lexus ES350 as the answer to their problems. Well, the XTS will give them a model to compete w/ the MKS, RL, ES, S80, and 9-5.
  11. Rad...the homebrew I'm waiting to see someone build would involve taking a used CTS sedan, two Northstar V8s, an Escalade ESV and a talented body man and engine builder to build a Sixteen facimile...
  12. Maybe a very minimal yard service with one small mower that trims postage-stamp yards in subdivisions in the burbs could use this. Or someone in a city that carries around cones and barrels or other stuff. Around here in the PHX, I see the yard crews using mostly older full size pickups (usually Silverados)--usually crew cabs or extended cabs--towing enclosed or wire mesh sided trailers w/ their equipment..that's how the Yard Men roll (the crew that does my lawn every two Saturdays--they went from an older Silverado to maybe a 5 yr old Ram Crew Cab last year).
  13. I wonder if that really means anything, though. Is there any meaningful difference between 'Theta' and 'Theta-Epsilon' other than the wheelbase.. Both are transverse FWD or AWD w/ the same V6 available. Nothing special. Shared platform w/ the Tahoe/Suburban/Avalanche/Yukon, a lot of parts shared. Still just a fancy truck, not it's own unique vehicle.
  14. Something like this would make sense for the commercial market, but I don't see it gaining traction w/ the personal small pickup market. Ford does have a pickup version of the large Transit (in single and crew cab versions) in Europe with a similar mini bed like this.
  15. Interesting...the 88 and 98 2drs have squared off wheel well openings while the wagon of the same generation has round ones...different front fenders on the wagon.
  16. I have fond memories of riding around w/ buddies in high school in cars like these...one buddy had a dark red w/ red velour interior '81 88 4dr, another had a sweet bright red w/ white top and white and red interior '76 Buick Electra 225 coupe...huge interior. Another had a triple silver '80 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. Dated a girl that had a silver blue w/ dark blue velour interior '81 Bonneville Brougham 4dr, another w/ an '84 Caprice Estate wagon..
  17. Hyundai's new front ends are too busy...but it least it's not like the Sonata Hybrid--that face is nauseating.
  18. Odd...Lamborghini is the Ferrari competitor within the VW group...Porsche should focus on what they do best and leave the supercars to Lamborghini.
  19. The flatter, taller nose makes me wonder if Hyundai is thinking about releasing the Genesis coupe in Europe and made these mods to pass the EU ped regs.
  20. Yeah, probably. And it wouldn't surprise me if most of these don't happen--the Lincoln CUV(MKC maybe) is pretty much a definite from what I've read elsewhere..niche proliferation. And then they will follow on w/ small 'coupe' CUVs..i.e. think smaller versions of the ZDX and X6...
  21. chick car. chicks fresh outta college / sorority can't quite afford the X3 yet Audi's got the Q1 coming also...wouldn't surprise me if M-B develops an SUV/CUV below the GLK. Caddy could build an entry-lux ATX...
  22. Those headlights look pretty busy.
  23. Like the color and two-toning inside. Nice rear cupholders. Nice to see a manual transmission..
  24. Interesting.... printed newspapers are a dwinding resource, though, as more and more people only consume news content online.
  25. If they bring the Paceman out, then they will have 7 bodystyles... (hatch, cabrio, 2 seat coupe, 2 seat roadster (coming), Clubman, Countryman, Paceman..) There are a few bodystyles the original Mini had that they haven't done yet--the Mini van and pickup, the Moke.
