Cadillac Vehicles & Engine Lineup (Circa 2015)
Robert Hall replied to dwightlooi's topic in Cadillac
They will have more diesels here eventually I'm sure. It's the diesels that get the good mileage. And they have Smart and the A- and B- class models for mileage (A- and B- coming to the US soon). -

Not really..AMG models are luxury-performance cars. The hybrids and diesels have the high mileage covered. -
I like Crown Vics, but that donk sh*t ruins it...

I was given a TV and a VCR once..when I went off to college 23 years ago. I've bought my own TVs, DVD players, Blu-Ray players etc since then. About the FIOS, for some reason, I thought you had dialup (300 baud modem?)
-
As far as I can tell, FIOS isn't offered here...I have Cox cable and internet currently..but the cable modem is about 5 years old, probably needs upgraded... I replaced the wireless router earlier this year, but sometimes (esp. on weekends) the connection can get laggy when two people are online w/ 2-3 laptops..

Saw a white Solstice GXP coupe tonight, the first Solstice coupe I've ever seen...pretty sweet. Also saw a Volt on the road for the first time, sort of...was a white one on a flatbed, looks like it had been in a pretty hard front offset crash.

I've thought about ditching the cable...I don't watch a lot of tv, what I do watch is usually always time-shifted w/ the DVR. I like having a big screen HDTV for movies and some sports (though F1 is not in HD yet).. been a Netflix customer for over a decade, watch a couple movies a week from them..started w/ DVDs then Blu-Ray...done Netflix streaming occasionally also. I also often hook up an HDMI cable from my laptop to the tv to watch clips from Motorsport Retro/You Tube, etc...I've streamed TV shows via Boxee to my laptop and watch them on the tv also occasionally.

Cadillac Vehicles & Engine Lineup (Circa 2015)

You mean Gen Y and the Millenials...plenty of 30-something and 40-something Gen Xers in the luxury market today.. Yes, but may 30 somethings are not yet in the luxury market. Most luxury car brands do attract people in their 50s and up. But from 2015-2030 those 30-45 year olds today will be nearing that age. I was thinking at the entry level...lots of 30-something 3-series, C-class, A4 drivers... But true, the higher end lux domain is definitely the 50+ crowd.. -

I'll blast my horn occasionally, but I wouldn't flip someone off in AZ... there are so many mentally unstable armed people here...(idiotic Wild West mentality). The biggest issue I see frequently are the drivers that are drifting in and out of lanes while on the phone, texting, sexting, reading email,etc...

At a gas station/repair shop I saw a red '70 Cutlass convertible in one of the service bays and a sharp red '73-75 Duster 340 w/ black stripes parked out front, next to a faded brown w/ tan top '74-76 Montego 2dr--1st one of those I've seen in a long time.

GM Offering Free Insurance For New Vehicles
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Interesting idea...will be interesting to see how long it lasts or if it gets expanded to other states. 15k is reasonable, I think. In the last 11 years I think I exceeded 12k in one year only once...this year is trending much lower since my commute is now under 20 miles/day instead of 50 miles/day. -
Beautiful dog, by the way. Malamutes look kind of like Siberian Huskies to me.. I grew up around largish dogs(German Shepherds, Doberman Pinchers, Australian Cattle Dogs) and still like them, though I'm now a confirmed terrier fan and furparent (2 Westies, an Australian(Tasmanian), a Silky, and a Yorkie..)

Cadillac Vehicles & Engine Lineup (Circa 2015)

True enough. I'd still like to see Chrysler build a V10 w/ Hemi heads. I wonder what will power the NG Viper... The Hemi engine is part of Mopar's distinctly American flavor. -
I remember as a kid my family's German Shepherds and Dobermans chasing groundhogs on the farm in E. Ohio.. But the strongest memories I have involving them was my Dad standing on the front porch or the back porch and picking them off w/ his rifle (the crazy things that people can do in a rural area on 150 acres of land!).

But then they couldn't have charged a premium for the ECO model..pay more to get less..

My dog goes from one backyard, which half is completely fenced for his use at about 225000 sq ft to 750 sq ft at the other house. I'd feel worse if he was still young, as the smaller yard is really to small for him to even get a full run going. But he's 12 now, and don't feel much like running it seems. Prefers a fast walk. You know there are guys who will show up for poo patrol, too. ;-) Probably... I have 5 dogs w/ a combined weight of about 55 lbs, so there isn't too much poo. I just have to remember to dump the bag in the brown (trash) barrel and not the blue (recycling) one..
-
My backyard is enclosed w/ a wall, trapazoid shaped, maybe 6000 sq ft (I know the total lot size is about 12k)..some of the dogs don't like pooing in grass, so they only go on the back sidewalk and patio/pool surround areas.. some of them go in the grass. So every Saturday morning before the yard guys show up I go on poo patrol to pick it up..
-
I don't *have* to collect it, but I don't like having in my yard..otherwise, it makes a mess when the yard gets mowed...
-
I notice the '80s-90s stuff because they tend to be more colorful (and square, as far as the '80s) than late model cars which generally seem to always be white, silver, or black and aerodynamic..
-
Interesting....a Phoenix suburb is looking at using dog poo to create methane to power a light in a pilot program.... I collect plenty of poo in my backyard every week, would be nice to use it for something. Dog Poo to power light in park

2012 Chevrolet Sonic vs. 2012 Hyundai Accent
Robert Hall replied to z28luvr01's topic in Reader Reviews
There are more subcompact (and compact) bodystyle selections in other markets because subcompacts and compacts take up a much bigger market share (i.e. more demand) than in NA...kind of a chicken and egg problem, though.. Consider trucks...look at the vast number of body styles and configurations available in GM's full size trucks...full size trucks are probably 65% of GM's product mix in NA..if they were only 5%, then the selection would be much smaller.. -

True enough...lots of cluelessness and incompetence in business, I esp. see it in customer/client management and project planning and management...so many headaches in my work world come about from poor communication between business analysts and management and clients/end users and how that communication is communicated to product development and engineering... -
Rumor is another haboob tonight... The haboob/dust storm the other night made a mess of my pool (pool guy came today) and my Jeep...I had just had it washed/waxed/detailed last Saturday...arggggghhhhh

Even in the Southwest where cars don't usually rust out, this sounds similar to what I see...I still see a fair number of '80s G-bodies around. The first gen Tauruses/etc I see are usually rolling wrecks, beat to death. About the only '90s W-bodies that seem semi-common are Regal and Grand Prix sedans. About the only larger '90s GMs I see are a surprising # of Rivieras and LeSabres; the occasional late '80s-early '90s square H/C body FWD Olds 88 or 98--I never see the later more rounded 88s-98s. About the only older Chryslers I notice are worn out LeBaron convertibles (the rounded ones) and early LHs. Older trucks and SUVs abound. I see lots of '90s era Panthers around.. Lots of '90s era Accords, Camrys, Civics, BMW 3-series, various older Mercedes still around as well (Scottsdale and PV skew what I see since those have been prime BMW/Merc markets for many years).
