Got a bit of snow overnight, still coming down intermittently. But we got off pretty mildly compared to areas further east I believe. Neighbors appear to have a GMC Terrain in their driveway that I hadn't noticed before.

It's really best to put ocn in your block/ignore list. He contributes nothing of value to any thread, and is only here to act as a troll. I have him blocked, but once in a while look at his posts for a laugh. -

Snowy and 32 now...this weather definitely has me dreaming of trips I want to take once the world gets to a 'new normal' and I feel like getting on a plane again (2022? 2023?). I want to take a couple vacations to places I've lived before... Want to go to Denver...see friends, see some of my favorite places..go up in the mountains. And I want to visit Marathon, Florida and the Florida Keys..see my old neighborhood, visit old friends...enjoy the sunsets. In the short term, I'm getting psyched up for my new job that starts Feb 8th. New technologies, new company, new adventures in WFH.

Sometimes it's not that the glass is half full or half empty, but that there is no glass..the glass is only imaginary.

Sharks, alligators, hurricanes...all part of the weirdness of Florida. Florida Man doesn't fear them, though.. Though for all the craziness, I do have a fondness for the Florida Keys, Miami and S. Florida in general... and the writings of Floridian Carl Hiaasen, who I saw announced his retirement from the Miami Herald yesterday. His colorful novels set in Florida are often hilarious. I'd love to have seen Miami and Miami Beach in the 1940s, when my father spent 4 years stationed at Miami Army Airfield with his work in the Army Air Forces Transport Command there and in the US Virgin Islands.

Though I'm more into rock, pop, '80s synth pop, and grunge, I dabble in country music, and I do like Garth. Another more recent country singer I like is Chris Stapleton...great voice and storyteller.. Fire Away: Parachute:

Some other cause... overstressed the transmission, rusted lines, etc? Maybe it was a poorly maintained worn out truck...

Chateau Club Wagon would have been an answer for big families in the 70s... Slope? Or the 1st truck backed up into the 2nd one after spewing it's crap...

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
Robert Hall replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
I bet it won’t have a big touchscreen or trick door handles like a Tesla though. -
100% BEVs is a separate goal and timeline from becoming carbon neutral, the various articles I've read today say they aspire to build 100% BEVs or 100% zero-emission vehicles by 2035.. (not sure if they can achieve 100% zero-emission via ICE?) https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/28/general-motors-plans-to-exclusively-offer-electric-vehicles-by-2035.html https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/28/business/gm-only-emission-free-cars-by-2035/index.html Will be interesting to see how it goes...

News Flash: GM plans to exclusively offer electric vehicles by 2035. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/28/general-motors-plans-to-exclusively-offer-electric-vehicles-by-2035.html Less than 15 years away...about the time I retire...maybe I can pick up a GM EV sports car then to buzz around Miami in... -

Yes, in general, but there are plenty of people who have vehicles that sit in their garage or driveway for years or decades and never get driven.. -

Kind of looks like a 50s concept car steering wheel, without the chrome. I do wonder about the legality here and in other countries. Still the same body outside with trivial fascia changes. Interior is minimalist and bland. -
Reminds me of my earliest 'driving' memories w/ my Dad...I'd sit in his lap and steer his '69 Mustang, '67 Cougar or '72 Marquis up and down our 3/4 mile driveway and on the gravel country road running past our property...must have been 1974-1975... I also remember driving his 1961 John Deere 2010 tractor around.. found a pic of one very similar...those old tractors are neat.

My dream car garage would definitely be heavy on the 80s-90s hardware..

I remember riding school buses 35 years ago that were diesel...loud, slow, stinky...didn't have A/C either, so had to ride w/ windows open in the S Florida heat. -
Yes, software engineering/IT remains a strong field...plenty going on in NE Ohio, and with everyone looking for 100% remote currently, my 3 1/2 years of full time remote experience works in my favor. 'Office Space' felt like a documentary to me..it reminded me a lot of corporate IT in the 90s. A more recent one was the show 'Silicon Valley' which was a brilliant satire of startup company culture.

...and got a very attractive offer from the small local company this afternoon that I'm mulling over...

Continuing the old Ohio photos themes, here are some pics from Put-in-Bay, a neat little town I like on South Bass Island in Lake Erie. They are known for vintage car races, from the 40s to today.

Steubenville, Ohio (I lived there 1971-1981) Below: Port Washington, Ohio (grew up about a mile outside of town, my family has had property there since 1968). Old pic of the railroad and Ohio & Erie Canal. Port Washington elementary school--- I went there 1977-1984, my sister went there 1968-1971 when my Dad was the district superintendent. Torn down around 2000 replaced w/ a new school.
